Sun 10/22 - PM Mayor's Cup DNF. The twin issues of right hip soreness and always feeling tired came to a head today. Even planning on holding back a bit early on, I came off Bear Cage the first time and lost any ability to maintain my spot (well back) in the pack and hit two miles in 10:50 after a 5:10 opener. From there on it was a zombie march for two more pointless miles, dropping like a stone. It's fair to say I've forgotten what it feels like to be fresh and well-rested. The well is completely dried up at the moment. It also occurs to me that not stretching for the past 6 weeks wasn't the best course of action for the leg issues. It may not be a cure but maintaining better flexibility will at least keep every last muscle connected in any way to my hip from locking up in a damn vise. Changes are needed in my routine, whether it's a cold turkey break or just backing off volume and intensity for a while. I'd like to think it's the latter.

Sat 10/21 - PM 45 minutes, Area 51 to the MHS track, 4x200 meter strides. Feeling only marginally better than the past two days, mainly because I didn't have to wake up as early. Right leg still locked up. Expectations for tomorrow have been adjusted and re-adjusted accordingly, which is to say downgraded. Seems like Mayor's Cup is no longer a spot I can pick and expect to pick other spots later on as well.

Fri 10/20 - PM 40 minutes easy. Perilously close to Friday tired, still distressingly flat. Legs feel like garbage, dinged up and sore. Right hip is especially tight. Took the cue and went to bed early last night, my reward was a 2 AM wakeup out of the blue, with terrible difficulty falling back asleep. Downright cruel. Not at all comfortable in my own skin at the moment.

Thu 10/19 - AM 40+ minutes, Area 51. Hammies still somewhat sore but not as bad as yesterday. Still feeling the effects of the turned ankle though. Second morning in a row of abnormally warm temps. PM - 30 minutes very easy. A half-off special as I planned on an hour. Feeling incredibly flat, tired and right hip is tight to boot. Kept waiting for things to perk up and they didn't.

Wed 10/18 - AM 40 minutes very easy. Predictably stiff and quite sore. Right hammie locked up like a vise. Followed a similar route as yesterday morning's run and not getting nearly as far along before seven bells. I found it laughable actually. Spent a lot of time with the lacrosse ball for both hamstrings. No time for PM run with coop responsibilities.

Tue 10/17 - AM 40 minutes, Area 51. Right hip barking a little bit again but could be worse esp. given the hour. Crisp morning. Slept reasonably well last night for a change. PM 8x3 minute pickups at BC reservoir with 90 second recoveries. Supposed to do 10 but I could feel things starting to come apart at the seams, increased effort not resulting in increased pace. Including the warmup, cooldown and persistent rain, made for a long, dreary evening. Turned my left ankle on a curb and had both hip flexors stiffen up big-time on the cooldown. I've just about had it with stumbling around in the dark on uneven footing in these workouts.

Mon 10/16 - PM 45 minute laundry run. A tale of two runs it seemed, first half plagued by right TFL feeling sore swollen and annoying, second half moving much more smoothly and picked up the pace as a result.
