Sun 5/21 - AM 5k Run for the Woods in Stow, 15:48. Splits of 4:59, 4:58, and 5:12. Woke up feeling tired, stayed up too late last night. Rode my bike over and found my legs to be disturbingly dead during the 2 mile warmup. As a result, took a while to get going in the race and even then, just looking to do the minimum to win comfortably. As it turns out the guy in second, close behind me through 2 miles, dropped out and it was a minute before the next finisher came along. 3rd mile slowdown a bit of a disappointment but given how flat I felt warming up I was pleased to hit 2m in under 10 minutes. Very slow longish cooldown in the woods. Another breezy day, started cool but warmed up fast in the sun.

Sat 5/20 - PM 50 minutes or so, Walden woods finishing with 6x30 second pickups w/60 sec. recoveries (aka 30/60s). Legs feeling kind of dead, likely a result of the morning bike ride which wasn't that long but the first time I've been on a bike in months. Right knee continues to be more stiff and sore than the left. Also noticing a twinge in the right hammy, not exactly at 100%. A good thing that the track 10k got cancelled, I don't think I'd be ready for it.

Fri 5/19 - PM 60 minutes in Area 51. Started at a quicker than normal rhythm, slowed a bit about halfway, then picked up the pace substantially for the last 15 minutes. I had harbored ambitions of doing something on the track today, but after not sleeping at all last night it wasn't happening, plus the wind was strong enough to make it a no-win proposition. Decided on the pickup late in the run instead, felt as good as I could hope.

Thu 5/18- PM 30+ minutes, Rockland to Dix and back through Levitown. 8x30 second pickups with 60 second recoveries in the middle. Another short and sweet run, felt better than Monday's short run. Woke up with a mildly sore throat, no idea where that came from. Best day yet of the week, rain likely to return tomorrow.

Wed 5/17 - PM 55 minutes very easy in Area 51. A leisurely stroll in the woods peppered with stops to look at the results of all the recent rain. Legs sore, right leg in particular. Hip and p.a. tight and sore at first, loosened up after 15 minutes. Another nice day, breezy but not the ill east wind that had become prevalent over the past two weeks.

Tuesday 5/16 - PM 6x800 , 2.5R. Splits of 2:28, 2:28, 2:25, 2:24, 2:22, 2:19. Looking to run a progressively paced workout and in this respect, it couldn't have gone better. A boost to the confidence, I knew I was sitting on some fitness that recent training belied. Each rep was under control, the last two certainly took some effort but not straining. Wearing spikes might have helped some, but it takes nothing away from the value of the workout. Weather also broke finally, just in time for the start of the workout. First sun in 8 days. Downright pleasant to be outside.

Mon 5/15 - PM 30+ minutes, Longfellow loop. Squeezed in 8 30 second pickups with 90 second recoveries. Might have run a bit too much yesterday, as my legs were more stiff and sore than I would have liked. Keeping the run short and sweet, feeling somewhat better overall but still unsure as to whether or not to try the 10k this weekend. Continued gloomy overcast, started to rain just as I was starting out.
