Sun 11/20 - off. Let the healing begin.
Sat 11/19 - PM Club Nationals, 10k in a beat-down 33:45. Another race result wholly unrepresentative of my current state of fitness, to be tossed in the pile with all the others. 11th hour adductor crisis, that led to spiraling anxiety, which in turn led to a visit to the hospital to check that I didn't have a hernia of course played a big part in the piss-poor run. Soreness that I was so worried about possibly being a hernia was diagnosed as nothing more than a strained muscle in the groinal region. Got to bed way too late, slept fitfully and too little, out of the game after 4k of racing. From then on it was the same old familiar feeling of racing when tired, unable to really push and apply myself. Passed by dozens of people after the initial shakeout, passed very few once the real racing started, finished 45 sec. to a minute off where I "should" have ended up judging by the results of others. At least I held off the 18 year old who was gunning for me at the finish, almost makes up for being thoroughly drubbed by the chunky guy with no knee lift and the GBTC slowpokes I beat by a minute two weeks ago at FP. Nice course, competitive field, plenty of people to measure myself against, a shame I couldn't take better advantage of the opportunity. The good news is that the "hernia" will likely clear up with resumption of stretching and core strength work that has been severely lacking, the bad news is I have to stay on top of that shit once I do get back to training in earnest.
Fri 11/18 - PM 40 minutes or so in Genesee Valley park in chilly windy Rochester. Spent the requisite 6 hours in the car getting there, legs a bit stiff esp. right hip. Entire right thigh, hip, IT, and esp. adductor are wound much more tightly than I'd like. Moving well enough on the trun, did 4 strides in the parking lot on firm ground. Course layout is varied and interesting, reminiscent of Franklin Park in some ways which is no surprise since Olmsted designed both these places.
Thu 11/17 - PM 55 minute laundry run. Other than lingering soreness in right adductor, legs feeling spry. Finished with four strides on Rivert St. Cold weather has returned.
Wed 11/16 - PM just under 45 minutes on the Longfellow loop, 8x minute on, minute off. Squeezed in the run while laundry spun and before food coop. Feeling much better than yesterday, still some soreness in right hip but nothing like it was last night. Pickups were controlled, moving well enough. Tried to stay relaxed and keep a good turnover going. Legs felt better by the end of the run than at the start. Unseasonably warm, which at this time of the year also means windy.
Tue 11/15 - PM big swing and a miss on the hill, warmed up 20 minutes or so, ran a single 1 minute rep (out of a planned 10) and called it a night after a long break and the slow jog back to the parking lot. Tired both from the too-recent workout on Sunday and the late bedtimes of the long weekend. Wired to the hilt last night, unable to fall asleep and this torpedoed the planned AM run before breakfast. Feeling much better the day before workouts than the day of lately. Right adductor became suddenly and inexplicably tight and pinched after lunch, from doing nothing more unusual than sitting in my chair. Loosened up some on the warmup, but hip flexor, adductor and ITB all felt like crap afterwards. Tomorrow would be a better day to try and get in some kind of faster running, but the day is already given over to errand hell so it's going to be a squeeze getting it all in.

Mon 11/14 - PM 40+ minutes, Area 51. 5 pickups on the way in. Legs feeling better after yesterday's crapfest, although left hammie is twinging more than I would like or expect. Overall feeling much better, bouncing back from yesterday. Run was the perfect length of time for the context of this week.
