Sun 8/20 - PM 75 minutes in Walden woods. Planned morning long run went by the boards, woke up feeling in no condition to even attempt such a thing after yesterday. Waited out the morning rains and afternoon sun, for a shorter run in the evening. Felt better for it overall, despite some twinging in right leg in the middle portion of the run. Humidity hung around all day, other than that not a bad day.

Sat 8/19 - AM 45 minutes very slow in Maynard. More inertia to get over before getting out the door. Resting pulse quite low, however. PM Lincoln tempo in 25:17, splits of 5:30, 5:39, 5:30, 3:18, and 5:20. About what I expected, alas. Still buried under a mountain of fatigue, effort didn't match pace. Hung in there and finished the thing off without racing. Not especially hot but very humid. Right TFL started twinging after a mile, referred pain all the way down to my ankle from it, always fun. Best part of the workout was the dip in Lincoln's town pool during the cooldown. The lack of sleep, incl. the redeye and a night spent at Dilaj's roadhouse on successive weekends with work weeks of getting to bed far too late is killing me. Can't expect to train a lot under such conditions. Spent much of the afternoon asleep, exhausted from the week.

Fri 8/18 - PM 70 minutes in Walden woods. 8 20/40s at the end on grass. Overcame significant inertia just to get started, felt flat as a pancake the first 20 minutes or so. Right hip better than yesterday, still swollen and not tracking totally right. Got loose enough to be able to do the strides at the end. Hurdle walkovers as part of the post-run flexibility routine.

Thu 8/17 - PM 110 minutes in Walden woods. Started out quite slowly, bothered by right hip which continues to be locked up. Took a long time to feel better, and even then it wasn't that much of an improvement. Legs loosened up but the underlying tiredness remained. Reached the pond near the end of things, the dip was one of the more satisfying I've had. Somewhat warmer today than previous days but still quite nice out.

Wed 8/16 - PM 20+ minute warmup in Concord center, followed by the Deke, 5k in 16:58. Against my instincts and perhaps my better judgment, I've decided to get back into the routine of doing workouts earlier than planned. I need to know where I'm at and mediocre workouts (like this one) will likely serve to get me out of the overtraining/underresting rut. As for the workout itself, pace on the 400s was consistent, all around 73 or so with the first one @75 and last one 72.6. The recovery intervals OTOH started at 47 and slowed in sequential and inexorable fashion to 52.6 for the last one. This is where the general fatigue showed through. Right TFL regressed somewhat from yesterday, hip joint is swollen and will take a while to get sorted out. Cooldown was a very relaxed 50 minute jog in the woods. Another nice day, relatively dry and sunny.

Tue 8/15 - PM 65 minute laundry run around Maynard, with 8 strides at the end. Both legs feeling better today, thank goodness. Right TFL feeling a bit pinched during the strides, some tightness/soreness in lower back that's related to that, but nothing like yesterday. While slightly warmer than recent days, still nice conditions outside after the humidity of morning showers dissipated.

Mon 8/14 - PM 95 minutes very easy in Walden woods. Felt like absolute garbage, and the fog never lifted. Kept it very low key as a result. Both legs bothersome, but right one especially. TFL twinging all day just walking around at work, locked up like a vise. Hammie still sore in spots. Felt only moderately better by the end of the run. The whole experience left a lot to be desired. Thankfully, still low humidity, although there was a strong southerly breeze blowing in.
