Sun 12/18 - AM 50 minutes in Newtonville/Newton Center. Plodding along with sore stiff knees, esp. right one. Didn't expect the patellar thing to still be bothering me but it was, took a good half hour to loosen up. Barely moving much of the way this morning. PM 5m in 36 minutes on the treadmill. Between 7.5 and 9 mph. Neither here nor there, but knee not nearly so stiff which is a good sign.

Sat 12/17 - PM 100 minutes, Parker Street to S. Acton, through Mt. Hope and on to Stow, back via Crescent and White Pond Road. Moving slowly for the first half hour or so, settled into a slightly faster rhythm after that. Sore as expected from the long workout last night, right knee tightness flaring up again. Footing on the trails at Mt. Hope a disaster, tracks in snow hardened into ice after yesterday's rain and subsequent cold temps. Cold but not mostly still, a nice night to be outside with the proper clothes.

Fri 12/16 - PM RLTAC 3x 2000 6:16, 6:18, 6:18, 3.5R 1200 3:50. Shooting for 4 repeats but ran out of gas halfway through the last one and stopped just before the inevitable blowup. A long workout at the end of a long week, slept far too little the last three days and despite getting through the workday in a near-manic state, it was too much to overcome when it came to dig a little deeper. Entertained thoughts of going through 1600 in 5:00 and then kicking home, found out the first rep that wasn't going to happen. Still able to pick up the pace somewhat the last two laps each rep, held the line on the pace the third one when it threatened to slip. Shorter rest ensured no early shenanigans. Strained right adductor further on an icy spot during the warmup, sidewalks a veritable hockey rink on the slow slow cooldown.

Thu 12/15 - PM 45 minutes total, 30 before the kiddies' meet looping around South End, 15 after in a fruitless attempt to rendezvous with a likely drug dealer to unload my Al Jefferson official autographed jersey I have absolutely no use for. Took a great deal of planning and focus to carve out 30 minutes for an easy jog, felt like being let out of jail given the restrictions of the schedule lately. Walls closing in already, last year it seemed like it took a bit longer than this for that to happen. Some soreness in left quad today.

Wed 12/14 - off. Ran out of time to run quite simply between practice and co-op. Would have liked to get in a placeholder at least but it wasn't happening. Very very tired on the drive home. Some unwelcome tightness/soreness in the right PA area after last night's workout. Getting a run in tomorrow will be just as problematic as today.

Tue 12/13 - PM RLTAC 1600, 5R, 16x200 1R. The 1600 went in 4:47, supposed to be 4:52. Went out in 70 and 2:21, still not sure why, just following along. Tiring but not shattering. 200s started in the 33s for the first four, with the short rest I didn't want to get in a deep hole early on. Got down in the mid-high 32s for the rest, except for the last one that went in 31.6. Under control, hit a small rough patch around 9 or 10. IGWS that at this point the legs aren't tuned for speed. Right knee issues would seem to be in the rearview mirror, as a workout like this would be a test of that. Warmed up outside, quite cold and the wind had kicked up considerably after a still day. Cooldown inside so I could get out quicker. Long day.

Mon 12/12 - PM 50 minutes, Longfellow loop. Roads are in far worse condition than I would have expected for this particular neck of the woods, packed snow crust and hardened slush nearly everywhere. Still able to do six pickups on the way in w/o slipping around too much. Soreness in right knee still there, def. a touch of patellar tendinitis. The more I think about it, the likely cause was the workout at Babson last week on its tighter turns with less bank. Whistling past the graveyard, but it loosened up fine once again once the run got going and offered no trouble.
