Sun 6/18 - AM 5k, 16:22. A piss-poor effort even accounting for the horrendous conditions, 85+ degrees and suffocatingly humid. 76 pace for four laps, then 78 pace, then the last mile or so I tanked it at about 83/lap. Should have dropped out at 3k but once again, too stubborn to quit. Tired, unable to focus, consistent theme of the past 6 weeks or so. Scheduled break from training/racing will now get moved up, starting tomorrow instead of after the 4th of July.
Sat 6/17 - 35 minutes in Area 51. Shakeout, not feeling especially spry. Tomorrow promises to be awful weather.
Fri 6/16 - PM 45 minutes easy in Area 51. Feeling somewhat lethargic until the last 15 minutes or so of the run. Six shorter pickups on the way in to get the legs turning over a bit. Right hip continues to be locked up, felt somewhat better after a good stretch after the run. Warmer than yesterday, humidity is still manageable although it promises to get worse over the weekend.
Thu 6/14 - PM 60 minutes, Pratt's brook to Mt Hope, back via rail bed. Right hip tight and sore to start, adductor bound up, eventually loosened up but took a while in doing so. Taking it easy, tired after not sleeping well last night. Five pickups on the way in, done out of a sense of obligation but they actually felt much better than expected given the way things had been going leading up to that point. Another sunny and altogether pleasant day to be outside, weather starts going to shit tomorrow just in time to reach a nadir on Sunday, alas.
Wed 6/14 - PM 65 minutes in Area 51. Started out feeling better than expected, then wilted somewhat, then picked it up again for a bit, then wilted again near the end. Not able to do strides, legs not there for it after yesterday. More rain today but it came after a few very warm days and as such represented a pleasant cooling trend instead of a bone-chilling windswept nightmare like last week.
Tue 6/13 - PM 3(400 1.5R 400 2.5R 800) with 2.5R between sets. First set 70.7/70.4/2:22.8, second 69.6/68.8/2:21.7, third 68.4/68.8/2:19.3. Despite feeling somewhat tired when workout time rolled around, able to hit all the numbers and progress through the workout quickening the pace. Last set definitely required focus, feeling spent after it was all done. Right hip stiff as usual. Warmup and cooldown were very very slow. Another nice day, if a bit hot with bright sun.

Mon 6/12 - PM 60+ minutes, rail bed to Mt. Hope and back through Levittown. Apparently the past two days took a bit more out of me than I had realized, really feeling it today. Moving quite slowly, stiff and sore the whole way. Right hip remains inflamed, takes a while to get at all loosened up. I did six pickups on the way in just to get the legs moving a little bit and force some range of motion more than anything else. As ever, it helped. Delightful day, sunny but not overly humid.
