Sun 2/18 - AM - 5k at Harvard, 15:33. Mile splits (i.e. not 1600) of 4:57, 5:05, 5:02. Given the way I've been feeling, I suppose this was about what to expect. Certainly a race effort, not that the numbers showed it. Too much accumulated fatigue to be able to run the pace I would have liked. Didn't take long to change the focus from time to tactics, plenty of people to run with early and as a positive, I was able to drop all but one of them after they outlived their usefulness. The one that remained gave me someone to follow the last mile, I was grateful enough for his presence that I didn't bother trying to outkick him. It would have been rude. Turned left ankle ten yards from the door at the end of the warmup jog, sore but not a problem during the race. Hopefully it won't be a problem in the week to come. Long 50+ minute cooldown, very slow. Included some spots with very dodgy footing.

Sat 2/17 - AM 35 minutes, Levittown. Continuation of last night's tired flatness. Inevitable convection-related obnoxious wind, which should only be an issue for the next 3 months or so. Overall not a great confidence booster for tomorrow, sleeping more lately but it may not be enough to overcome the rigors of the last weekend and the 3 rounds of shoveling Wednesday. Feeling somewhat vulnerable.

Fri 2/16 - PM 50+ minutes, Longfellow loop. Feeling somewhat flat and tired. This, combined with poor footing in many areas, prevented any strides from happening. Continued baleful wind chills, although not quite as cold as I had thought it would be.

Thu 2/15 - PM just over 51 minutes on the treadmill, 7m. Speeds between 7 and 9 mph. Ambient and road conditions combined to drive me indoors for the evening's run. From the looks of things, there may well be more treadmill runs in the near future as white hell has descended.

Wed 2/14 - off. Thinking of a treadmill run, but the third round of shoveling made the decision for me. More sugar snow than I'd prefer to deal with. Slept a good chunk of the day.

Tue 2/13 - PM 45 minutes, Levittown to Summerhill. Feeling unexpectedly spry for the first five minutes or so and then reality set in. Still some dings in the legs and overall feeling somewhat tired. I had wanted to do some strides at the end of the run but it wasn't happening. Continued cold in advance of snow tomorrow.

Mon 2/12 - PM 60 minutes very easy, Longfellow Loop. Included a brief spell across Willis. Going slow not a problem at all after the busy weekend. Right hammie predictably gummed up but not to a terrible degree. A bit warmer than yesterday but still below freezing.
