Sun 9/17 - AM The Josh, 6+ miles in an awful and uninspired 34:23. Crap time aside, this was the worst hard effort I can remember for a long time. I had a feeling a turd was coming, as yet again the teflon consciousness made it impossible to get a decent night's rest and I woke up tired and flat. This feeling continued right on through the day. Similar conditions to last year, relatively cool but noticeably humid. I'm about ready for the sticky air to get moved out of here. Right hip has felt better and felt worse, not really an issue either way. 40 minutes or so of warmup and cooldown.
Sat 9/16 - AM 45+ minutes easy in Area 51. Tired from last night and from the week in general, cumulative sleep deficit. Warm, sunny and still more humid than I would like. TFL twinging from the longer run yesterday. PM 30 minutes very easy shakeout in Richmond MA. Big hills everywhere, just looking to loosen up after the long drive over. Got in a good stretch afterwards, first time in a long time.
Fri 9/15 - PM 100 minutes in Lincoln woods. Spent most of the run at an in-between intensity, feeling good enough to move fairly well but still tired enough from the week not to want to push it overly. Fatigue increased noticeably the last half hour. This also coincided with right hip starting to tighten up. Warm and somewhat humid. This will likely be the long run of the week, I've been remiss lately in not putting in a longer long run on the weekend.
Thu 9/14 - PM 60 minutes in Area 51. Felt better than expected after yesterday's workout, to the point where I was able to do six strides on the way in. TFL not twinging nearly as bad I expected it would. Steady rain throughout the run.
Wed 9/13 - PM 40 minute warmup, then 10 hills on Comm Ave, to the tree which is somewhere in the vicinity of 350m. First two were the slowest, north of 73, last two were the fastest, 70 and 68, the others around 71-2 with the run back down the hill taking between 1:35 and 1:40. The overall trend is what I was aiming to accomplish. Right TFL and IT band felt terrible while warming up, surprisingly so. Took a long time to loosen up and I had to do some quick work on the area before starting with the hills. 20 minute cooldown very slow. Warmer and stickier than it has been the last few days, return of more seasonable conditions.
Tue 9/12 - PM 85 minutes, Walden woods incl. loop of Farrar Pond. Feeling much better today than yesterday, to the point where I was able to do five strides at the end with no trouble, but chose to defer the workout one more day anyway to give myself more recovery. Able to run at a faster pace than yesterday not that it's saying much. Right TFL twinging more than I would like. Unable to stretch for very long after the run as it wasn't quite cold enough last night to kill the bugs off for good. Another dry cool clear day, conditions don't get much better for being outside. Bumped into a living legend of ABRHS running while out on the trails which put a spring in my step.

Mon 9/11 - PM 90 minutes very easy, track road to Area 51. Started out slowly and got slower as the run went along. Feeling yesterday's effort, more than I expected to but it should come as no surprise. The puttering along was relaxing if a bit frustrating. Some soreness in the right hip, gummed up overnight. Another cool day, sunny clear and very autumnal. Perfect for running.
