Sun 7/16 - AM 70 minutes on Campbell Mesa trail. A nice loop but feeling like crap, trundling along. The lack of oxygen is something of a drag. Legs sore, right TFL twinging again. PM 40 minutes out and back on Walnut Canyon road. Started slowly and gradually got faster. Legs still a bit tight.

Sat 7/15 - AM 30 minutes on the Continental loop, Coconino national forest. The first of many dry warm sunny days. As expected, shortness of breath became noticeable on any kind of incline. Welcome to altitude. Legs were a bit stiff at first but not as bad as I thought they would be. PM 65 minutes on Mary Lake road, 4m at a relaxed pace, then 3m in 18:30, followed by a two mile cooldown. The 3 miles at 6:10 pace felt more like 5:40 pace, at least. Left adductor surprisingly tight and sore, not enough stretching after the morning run.

Fri 7/14 - off. Work plus a six hour flight to Phoenix equals no time to run. Loooooong day with the drive up to Flagstaff afterwards, so tired I wasn't able to see straight by the end.

Thu 7/13 - PM 35 minutes easy. No time for more or I would have gone at least a little bit longer. Both achilles are sore from yesterday's effort in trail shoes. Right hip swollen as well, stiffened up at times during the day at work. Cool showers during the day, gave way to sunny skies in the evening. Feels drier at least for now.

Wed 7/12 - PM 95 minutes, Walden woods. A transfigurative experience thanks to the persistent rain showers, which were intense at times. Cooled things off and made the humidity much more tolerable. Feeling much better today than either of the last two days, pace came down the last half hour.

Tue 7/11 - PM 90 minutes, Pratt's Brook to Great Hill to Mt. Hope, back on Rockland Ave. Today was like swimming without the pool. Easily the most humid it could possibly be without rain, in fact I think it would have been less humid if it were raining. Got home from work feeling lower than whale shit, a bit groggy to start the run but eventually things came around well enough. Feeling better than yesterday, not saying much. Right TFL became problematic after an hour or so, a a quick stop to do some work on it helped make the end of the run go more smoothly. Three more days and I am out of this crap for three weeks.

Mon 7/10 - PM 80 minutes dead-dog slow in Lincoln woods, incl. Farrar Pond trail. Felt like utter crap, came crashing back to reality after last week's vacation time. Right TFL and IT band started twinging last night and made sleeping even more impossible than it would ordinarily be under these circumstances. Dragging at work as a result. Had they not added five days to our work year I wouldn't even be working today which sucks all the more. Punishing humidity noticeable from the moment I crawled out of bed, thankfully temp not too high but hot enough. First 15 minutes of the run I was limping on my hip, finally it loosened up enough for something resembling a normal stride. Trudged along, made it to the pond after an hour on the nose. Right shin is sore in an odd place in an odd way, bears watching. Other than that a fantastic summer day.
