Sun 4/15 - AM 95 minutes, Area 51. had to start at a shuffle due to right high hammie which was completely gummed up. I'm realizing that the hills caused a stealth strain on that side which the track workout Friday only exacerbated. Unusual to have the right side feel better. While the left hammie eventually loosened up somewhat, allowing for a significant pickup in the pace, definitely restricted motion. Tightness extended into hip trochanter area. As expected, some compressions on the area after the run helped break up some knots. The while episode underlines the need for more post-run stretching. More challenging weather conditions, raining hard but it would have been much much worse had I waited until later in the day.
Sat 4/14 - AM 60 minutes very easy, Summer Hill to Area 51. As expected, both high hammies were gummed up, in fact felt worse than anticipated. Difficult to get any knee lift as a result. Doing the hill workout on grass put me over the edge in this respect. Sunshine rapidly disappeared as cloud deck rolled in. PM 50+ minutes very easy, Area 51. Felt moderately better than the morning but still nothing to write home about.
Fri 4/13 - PM RLTAC 2(2x800, 1600), 2x400. 2.5R between 800s, 3.5R before and after 1600s. First two 800s in 2:30, then 5:08, second pair of 800s in 2:28, then a 5:04, 400s in 71 and 68. Relaxed, but working too hard for these pedestrian splits. Legs sore, particularly in high hammies which developed the tight pinched feeling byt the end of the workout. Felt terrible on the cooldown. Looks like the stretching/strenghtening routine will have to be resumed. Nothing spectacular and nothign coming easy lately, but still better than the 4 weeks from mid-Feb to mid-March. Still coming out of that mysterious hole.
Thu 4/12 - PM 60 minutes very easy to easy along Charles river. Moving a bit better than yesterday, but still not near feeling up for doing strides. Weather only a duck could love for most of the run, with short quiescent periods at the beginning and end.
Wed 4/11 - PM 90 minutes very easy, Track Road to Area 51. Slept well last night, feeling chipper all day at work, realized promptly upon starting the run that the legs were fried from yesterday. Straight recovery as a result, painfully slow pace for most of it. Negligible knee lift. At least it was relaxed.
Tue 4/10 - PM 65 minutes incl. 8xminute, 8x30 second hills on Comm Ave. Recoveries of 90 seconds and 50 seconds respectively. Had a difficult night sleep-wise, not sure how the effort would go after the last attempt at hill reps here. Able to get it done, thankfully the workout was easily digestible. Much longer or even 12xminute would have been more of a chore. Predictably slow cooldown crawl.

Mon 4/9 - PM 80 minutes medium (new word, what an innovation), Lincoln woods. Gradually worked the pace down, moving at a decent clip the last 20 minutes. Coming around from the weekend's easy running. Finished up feeling pleasantly tired. Left ankle sore after a few rolls on protruding rocks and roots, obnoxious as always. Chilly breeze continues unabated.
