Sun 6/11 - PM 90+ minutes, Track road to Sudbury road and back through Area 51. Some soreness in hip flexors/core but not that stiff overall. Moving along at a consistently middling pace, neither fast nor slow. Unable to pick it up, but not feeling so tired that a slow slow start was needed either. Pleasant day to be outside, a welcome change.
Sat 6/10 - PM 3k, 8:55. The time is beneath mediocre but the effort represents a step forward, which says something about the rut I've been stuck in this spring. Very tactical race, tightly bunched group with various people taking the lead, moving up, falling back, etc. I stayed in 4th or 5th pretty much the entire race. Slightly negative split, up until 800 to go I was anticipating unleashing a big kick on the last 300 but the effort of reaching that point of the race made that impossible and I stayed at 70 second pace the last two laps instead. While mostly through with the tired feeling of late, still not able to dig down as deep as I would have liked which was mildly disappointing, as the leaders got some distance on me the last 300m. The rain subsided more or less by race time after steady showers most of the day, some gusty wind during the race which contributed to the tactical nature of things. Short cooldown afterwards.
Fri 6/9 - PM 45 minutes, Area 51. Six pickups on the way in. Feeling much more spry today as compare to yesterday, although still some soreness in right hip. Stubborn cold/congestion that's been hanging around the last 10 days seems to be loosing its grip. Still, I've been feeling the blahs of late.
Thu 6/8 - PM 50 minutes or so very easy, took the long way to the supermarket and back to get apples. Puttered around the Grace superfund site, quite nostalgic. As expected, the treadmill yesterday on top of Tuesday's workout left my legs in no condition for fast stuff. Pulse mildly elevated all day at work, still feeling tired. Continued overcast, but the rain did let up some and temps warmed as soon as it did.
Wed 6/7- PM 5.5m on the treadmill in 39 minutes. I really wanted to stay off the treadmill today, but the weather was horrendous, conditions fit for a fish. The combination of rain and wind made it a no-go. Started at 7 mph and gradually worked up to 9 over 22 minutes, then back down to 8 and finally up to 10 for the finish. Some soreness in back yesterday, due no doubt to the 300s yesterday. Still feeling somewhat tired, the endless gray conditions may have something to do with that.
Tue 6/6 - PM 4 sets of 800, jog 100, 300. 3.5R between sets. Splits of 2:27/50.7, 2:27/48.5, 2:24/49.3, 2:22.5/47.7. Overall the effort was controlled and went surprisingly well as I was feeling tired, flat, and still somewhat sore in the legs right through the warmup. Relaxed pace on the 800s early one likely made the whole thing possible. 300s were as fast as I could go and stay relaxed. By the time it got hard, it was the final set and the workout was over. For the third week in a row the workout goes well and leaves me feeling reasonably confident. I'm hopeful it will translate into better results on the weekend. NE wind kicked up during the late afternoon, kept things cool but also the harbinger of more wet weather.

Mon 6/5 - 60 minutes in Walden woods. Still not feeling entirely up to snuff. Legs stiff and sore to start, by the time they loosened up after 30 minutes or so I was hit with a wave of exhaustion and as such, the pace remained leisurely. After all the sleeping during the day yesterday, had the predictable impossible time falling asleep last night.
