Sun 3/11 - PM 80+ minutes, mostly in Carlisle. Rolling terrain, bucolic sights, etc. Took it very easy to start, gradually got down to easy. Right leg became sore after an hour or so, combined with general fatigue this shortened the run somewhat. Warm conditions, plenty of puddles as ablation continues. Breezy, at times downright windy.
Sat 3/10 - AM Lincoln 4.6 tempo, 24:39. Splits of 5:19, 5:31, 5:29, 3:16 and 5:03. Started too quickly by a few seconds, tried to stay put effort-wise the next two miles, not forcing the issue. Got sucked along the last 800 as the 15 second rule became the 23 second rule. Noticeable headwind on the second half of the course today. Respectable given the fact that I stayed up too late last night and felt fairly flat warming up as a result. Right hammie and IT aching a bit. Wiped out on the cooldown, conked out later in the afternoon. In need of the rest.
Fri 3/9 - 50 minutes ambling all over N. Brookline, incl. a trip up Summit Path for the view. Legs feeling rickety again like Wednesday. Took it easy. The arctic air mass dissipated somewhat, but not enough for my tastes. Felt underdressed.
Thu 3/8 - AM 25 minutes on the treadmill. Half-awake at 4:30, no freezing cats wailing this time. Fully awake by 6:15, running by 7 and feeling quite lucid. Stuck again in a manic pattern, flying w/o the plane. Hoping for a gentle landing instead of a crash. PM 50+ minutes, incl. 3 trips springing up the Thompson St. hill. My triumphant return to bounding, felt decent despite some soreness in the upper right hammie. Made it through the day in one piece, although quite tired (as expected) on the drive home. Disgusting cold and wind chill, as bad as it's been all winter. While not unheard of for this time of year, it's nonetheless perverse to have the sun out for the length of time that it is and yet the chill is unremitting.
Wed 3/7 - off. A planned break, as I knew the only time available today for a run would be in the AM and I had no intention of getting up early after last night's workout. Awakened far too early anyway by the neighbor cat's plaintive cries to be let inside. Fantastic. Right knee and left hip flexor more sore than I would have expected.
Tue 3/6 - PM RLTAC 1600 5:04 (2:34, 2:30) 5R then 16x200 Deek style with 100m recoveries. 200s ranged from 34.9 to 37, avg. 35.9. Hard to call the recoveries a float as they were a bit slower than that, avg. around 30 in fact. Overall the workout had the desired effect. 1600 was under control, but a little quick at the end. Warmup and cooldown both on the treadmill, as the wind chill outside was downright vicious.

Mon 3/5 - PM 60 minutes, Levittown to Old Mill. Still feeling some heaviness in the legs, but overall better than the recent lost weekend. Getting back up to a higher amount of training volume will be a more gradual process than I had originally anticipated. Return to very cold conditions, obnoxious wind chill and the whole bit.
