Sun 2/11 - AM 20 minute warmup, 5m road race in 26:20 (5:05-5:20-5:22-5:17-5:16), 25 minute cooldown. A scenic tour of Brockton's D.W. Field Park which is a surprisingly nice place to run. Mostly flat course with one hill just before the mile mark, some wind along the shore of various ponds. Looking to run a tempo, but had to run a lot faster than I had hoped or planned simply to hold my spot. Still able to pull it off without killing myself, although the cooldown went very slowly.

Sat 2/10 - AM 4m in 30 minutes on the treadmill. 7 to 9 mph. Didn't feel much like running on the treadmill but didn't feel like getting dressed to go outside either. PM 40 minutes very easy in Levittown. Kept it quite mellow and cut the length of the run down a bit due to a late start. Not quite as cold as some recent days, but cold enough.

Fri 2/9 - PM 3k at BU in just under 8:49. Second half of the race about 4 sec. faster than the first, last lap of just under 33. A masterpiece of intestinal fortitude given how crappy I've felt for much of the past week/fortnight/month. Woke up feeling predictably tired, by lunchtime I had decided to forego the race because I was convinced it would be a disaster. Pulse stuck in the mid-50s, feeling very blah. Headed over to the track, ostensibly to watch, changed my mind twice on the way over. One caffeinated cake frosting later, I decided to give it a go. Started out conservatively and stayed focused on running the same pace as the 200s from Wednesday night. Able to focus and wind things up as the race progressed. Realized with 80m left that I had another couple of gears left and closed it out with a relative flourish. Overall somewhat satisfying but only within the context of diminished expectations. 40+ minute cooldown.

Thu 2/8 - PM 35 minutes easy. Not easy enough. Felt lower than whale shit, should have taken the zero today. The exhausted feeling persists. Extremely frustrating and reminiscent of the day before the terrier classic.

Wed 2/7 - PM 30 minutes easy in the Fens. Feeling better than yesterday, which isn't saying much but worth something. Wind continues to hammer relentlessly during daylight hours, and most of the night as well. later PM RLTAC mini-Deek 10x(200, 100 jog), 3k total in 10:00. 10 minute warmup and cooldown. Didn't check the watch at all while running, looking to run on feel. The second one was 35.9, last one 33.9, all others were within that range. Last three were the fastest. Doing the math, recoveries averaged about 25 seconds. A solid session, like the longer Deek this gives a good feel of what race pace feels like when tired. Speakign of which, the effort started to wear on me a bit the last three but not overly due to the short length of the reps. Spent a lot of time on my feet between the earlier 30 minute run and this short workout which wasn't ideal.

Tue 2/6 - PM 20+ minute warmup in Longwood/Fens. Flat and tired after a disappointingly fitful night's rest. Dragging all day at work, two naps just to get through the day. Supposed to do a brief workout tonight but decided it would be better for me to get home earlier and get to bed. The right move as I was ready to collapse by 10:30.

Mon 2/5 - PM 50+ minutes, Levittown to Summerhill. Five pickups near the end. Feeling more tired than I would like by evening after getting through the day surprisingly well. Right hip and hammie a bit sore. Blackest of blackbird days, worst windchill I can remember. Wel enough dressed for it but still no fun.
