Sun 12/10 - AM 3.5m in 19:20 on a rollercoaster course in Melrose. Very little flat, lots of twists and turns, an interesting experience for sheer ridiculousness. A solid effort, not feeling like overextending myself but impossible not to be pretty beat by the time it was over. Long warmup, short cooldown. PM 35 minutes very easy supermarket run. Legs not totally destroyed from the morning but I may be singing a different tune tomorrow.

Sat 12/9 - AM 40 minutes very easy. Thanks to not running around in circles for the workout last night, legs feeling better than last Saturday, esp. right calf. Wind has changed direction to southerly and it's already warmer than it was yesterday. PM 30 minutes, 4m on the treadmill. Didn't want to bother with the hassle of getting dressed to run outside. Right hip a bit sore and swollen but it's been worse, esp. day after a hard effort.

Fri 12/8 - PM 60+ minutes, Longfellow loop, incl. 4x6 minutes w/2R. Hip and back feeling ominously tight and sore during the day at work, plus the typical tiredness from the end of a long week. Combined with the cold and wind chill, I wasn't at all sure of doing anything more than an easy run, but after recusing myself from the kiddies' practice and a much-needed nap in the afternoon, felt capable of the effort. In the end it all went well, some sag on the middle of the last two but overall able to keep the ball rolling at uncomfortably sustainable.

Thu 12/7 - PM 80+ minutes, Levittown to Longfellow loop. More tired and sore than I would like, but I suppose it's inevitable. Hip swollen, TFL twinging, and hammie became increasingly wound up particularly in the last 20 minutes. Made a conscious effort to take it easy throughout. Compressions on right hammie necessary after the run, things felt a lot better after this.

Wed 12/6 - PM RLTAC 3(400 1.5R 400 2.5R 800) with 2.5R between sets. 800s went in 2:31, 2:32 and 2:30, 400s 73-74/ Smooth and slow. It felt relaxed at least, no rubber legs like the last workout here. Right calf very tight and it's from all the turns of the track. Some swelling in hip from yesterday combined with today. Slow on the warmup and cooldown, not exactly feeling a high energy level on either end of things.

Tue 12/5 - PM 60+ minutes including 4 trips springing up the Thompson road hill. Cut back to three strides at the top instead of four like last week and it went better. Hip somewhat sore and inflamed but it's been worse. Chilly conditions.

Mon 12/4 - PM 65 minutes, River St. to Red Acre Road, back via White Pond and Main St. After some initial stiffness in both legs, things felt better than I expected. Not pushing the pace at any point and yet moving well enough. Clear and chilly conditions, thankfully less wind than I was expecting.
