Sun 9/10 - PM Maynard road race, 18:40. They call it 3.5 but after hitting mile splits of 4:56, 10:06 and 15:30 I don't think I slowed down that much the last bit. A bit of a bummer to slow down so much the third mile, assuming it was accurate. A better comparison is that two years ago I ran 20 seconds faster onthe same course after hitting the mile in 5:06, although it may have been less windy that day. The difficulty in holding close to early pace definitely a result of overall tiredness, what with the well not being as deep as I'd like. Right hip felg better than expected, warmed up gingerly but once the gun went off noticed very little soreness or tightening up. later PM 45 minutes very slow in Area 51. Went on some trails in the dark that I should have taken a pass on as I couldn't see a damn thing. First time wearing long sleeves and a reflective vest in months with the fall-like cool conditions. Leg still hanging in there, tightened up some over the afternoon but not that much.
Sat 9/9 - AM just under an hour, Pratt's Brook to Liberty Road, back via Rockland. Right hip a total mess, felt terrible the entire time. Everything in there squeezed in the vise, twinging with almost every step and by the end I had shooting pain in the high hammie when flexing the hip. Not stretching or doing any work on the area after yesterday's run played a large role in this misery. Spent a long time with the lacrosse ball after the run working out various adhesions. PM 45 minute laundry run. Overall felt better than the morning, still not pain-free but nowhere near as debilitating and frustrating an experience. Thought about doing some strides but there was enough residual soreness that it would have been a bad idea. After a very warm and humid day sporadic t-storms came through.
Fri 9/8 - PM 90+ minutes in Walden woods. Chose a route with more hills than yesterday FWIW. Moving slightly better. Right leg tightened up some in the last half hour of the run but felt decent before that. Unable to stretch due to bugs. Still operating in a fog of fatigue resulting from not getting enough sleep, the strung out zombie feeling continues. Unable to get through the afternoon w/o a nap. Warmer today than yesterday, to an unwelcome degree. Took a dip in the pond, probably among the last if not the last of the season.
Thu 9/7 - PM 90 minutes in Walden woods. Took it easy, still feeling like utter crap at the start, but got through the run in one piece. Less twinging in right leg than I've come to expect, but that's probably thanks to yesterday's day off. Took the time to stretch afterwards before the bugs descended, it was definitely worthwhile. Also did some work on the right psoas as this muscle is definitely locked up tight and affecting many other areas from lower back to adductors. Need to stretch more, but it's getting tough as the time after I finish running is becoming closer to dusk and mosquito feeding time. Warmer and more humid today.
Wed 9/6 - off. Continued tired and flat, got home and realized I had zero motivation to run. Also contributing is the continued vise grip on my back and right hip, stiff and sore and neverending.
Tue 9/5 - AM 30 minutes very slow. Dragged myself out of bed at 6 to try and loosen up my legs so I can attempt the workout tonight. Barely awake, nice to be out in the morning but I'd like it better if I were conscious. PM 50 minutes easy, in two 25 minute chunks with a long break in between. The gap is where I would have been running the workout but I was feeling flat as a pancake after yesterday and this morning that I knew it wasn't even worth trying. So tired right now.

Mon 9/4 - AM 5k in Portsmouth, 15:53. Too tired and flat to run as I had hoped and win some cash. Found myself in a battle with three other people for two money spots, hung in there for 2.5 miles but I had the feeling there would be no gears left for me at the end, and when two of them made the decisive move I had nothing. Packed it in the last 600m. The well was just too shallow, still feeling strung out, not quite as bad as the weekend but not nearly spry enough to run strong at 9 am. The past week have left me in a worn out state. 15 minute warmup, 20 minute cooldown. PM 30 minutes very easy in Concord center. Right hip/TFL/IT band a total mess, didn't notice it while racing this morning but it stiffened up after that. Everything stuck, poor range of motion, any faster than a crawl and I'd be limping on it. Got in some stretching before the bugs started biting in earnest.
