Sun 4/8 - AM 95 minutes easy, Pratt's Brook to Great Hill, Mt, Hope and back via Rockland Ave. Started rather slowly and kind of tailed off from there, not feeling up for much more than that. Rocky muddy conditions in the woods. Wind picked up in speed as things went along, very annoying.
Sat 4/7 - AM 50 minutes very easy, Area 51. A relaxed jog. Cold weather continues, no end in sight. PM 60+ minutes very easy, Area 51. Thought I'd be moving better in the evening vs. the morning but it wasn't the case. As such, ran at least as slowly as the morning. Took some of the less well-trodden paths. Spent much of the day in a supine position which is fine by me.
Fri 4/6 - AM 35 minutes easy. Some tightness/soreness in right hip and hammie, with referred tightness into lower back as a result. It comes and goes. Continued chilly, neverending wind. PM RLTAC 5x1600 1.5R, splits of 5:15, 5:17, 5:17, 5:17, 5:15. I had thought 5:20 pace could become a struggle so I wanted that as a starting point, no faster, so the first two caused some concern, but it came out fine in the end. Able to run consistently even splits. Last rep took noticeably more effort than the previous four, but still under control. On the whole compares favorable to previous long rep/short rest workouts over the past few weeks. I didn't know what to expect as pulse was somewhat elevated during the afternoon. Cooldown was very slow.
Thu 4/5 - AM just under 30 minutes very easy. Slushy wonderland all around. With a dank chill wind to go along with it. PM just over 60 minutes, Pratt's Brook to Red Acre, back via White Pond and Summerhill. 6 strides on the way in. The morning run helped loosen the legs up, moving better right from the start. Combination of clearing skies and a persistent NW wind got rid of the slush and left the roads bone-dry.
Wed 4/4 - AM 25 minutes very easy. Puttering around before breakfast. Mulled over whether to get out of bed, mindful of the fact that this would likely be the only time to run today thanks to food coop. As it turns out it was the only time, as squeezing in a second run after work wasn't happening. Tired, again, plus weather went from dreary to awful with snow/rain/slush everywhere.
Tue 4/3 - PM RLTAC 1600 4:55, 5R 4x200 w/100 float. Unable to complete the full workout of 16x200. 1600 felt smooth, relaxed, but far more effort than it should have been for the pace I was running. This became even more pronounced once I started with the 200s, all between 36 and 37 which was the goal range but again, much too hard an effort. Frustrating, yet again the exhaustion is right there. Cooldown was a crawl, unlike warmup, the effort of the shortened workout wiped me out. I may have been better off doing the shorter tempo on Saturday, but I think it has more to do with the continued early morning wake-ups that are ruining my sleep. Sleeping more than during the indoor season, but not more enough given the increased training volume.

Mon 4/2 - PM 85 minutes, Lincoln woods. Started out a bit too quickly, feeling strained after 20 minutes or so, backed off a bit and steadily warmed to the task after that. Last 20 minutes felt much better, moving along at a good clip for the first time in a while. As ever, being out in the woods is a rejuvenating experience, although twisting the left ankle was not appreciated. Spectacularly dreary day, first of a string of them.
