Sun 1/8 - AM 80+ minutes, WHS to RLTAC on Route 9. A drive I've made many times, done on foot. Cold, snowing lightly, felt tired what with the early hour. When it was over I was glad. Still feeling it from the short sleep nights earlier in the week.

Sat 1/7 - PM 90 minutes, River Street to Central to Summer to Flagg Hill, back via White Pond and Summerhill. Similar loop to what I ran Saturday evening three weeks back but skipped the Mt. Hope trails. Ran a bit too quickly in the early/middle stretches and then wilted a bit the last half hour or so. Legs not terribly sore. Skipped the AM run entirely and feeling no qualms whatsoever about it.

Fri 1/6 - PM RLTAC 3200-1600-3200 with 4.5R between each, splits of 10:06, 4:51, and 10:02. All reps were even paced, with some variation depending on who was leading. The times I ran would have been slower by a few ticks had I been doing the workout alone. Overall felt smooth, first 3200 felt like a breeze but gradually came up against a wall of sorts on the other two reps. The 1600 being a bit faster than planned left me unable to make a pace faster than 38/lap on the last 3200 when it was mine to lead. End of another long day, manic state persists with another night of little sleep following the kiddies' meet yesterday. Two short naps during the day at 6 hour intervals got me through. Not a sustainable routine.

Thu 1/5 - PM 30 minutes around Fenway area, easy. Right knee tight all day at work, loosened up well enough after about 5 minutes of running. Still feeling like I'm whistling past the graveyard, but it hasn't blown up on me.

Wed 1/4 - PM 45 minutes, Longfellow Loop. Moving better than expected for the day after a workout, likely thanks to all the rest over the just-concluded vacation. Also went along with the near-manic state of consciousness I was able to maintain after a very poor night of sleep transitioning back to the work grind. Right knee tight and tender once again at the start, lessened over time as it usually does.

Tue 1/3 - AM 4m, 30 minutes on the treadmill. Right knee continues feeling a bit tight at the start of these morning runs, mild tendinitis. Extra vacation day due to predicted bad weather that never really materialized. Not complaining at all. PM RLTAC 1600 4.5R 2x800 2.5R 4x400 1.5R. Splits of 4:42, 2:19, 2:18.5, 400s all between 67 and 67.5. Right on the edge, any faster on any part of the workout and it would have likely led to a blow-up. That being said, the shorter reps felt like less of a strain than the 1600, which went by in even splits. This workout would have been a lot harder without the day off from work. With vacation now over, back to the grind.

Mon 1/2 - AM just under an hour very easy, Rockland Ave to Summer Hill, then over to Track Road. Puttering quite slowly much of the way, feeling low on energy except for the last 10 minutes. Looking to get away from the two standard winter road loops, so took a wandering tour of Maynard's woodsy side, such as it is.
