Sun 11/6 - AM New Englands at Franklin Park, 10k course in 32:18 for 19th place. Raced well for 9.5k or so before falling apart when the chips were down and losing touch with guys I should have been racing right to the line. Other than that, a good effort, moving up through the field, feeling much more spent than after Mayor's Cup. More in the tank as well thanks to the tapering this week, plus much better course conditions insured a faster time. Hit 5k in 16:00, 8k exactly ten minutes later. Got in an actual warmup this time around which helped the early stages of the race go much better. Noticed I was running much better than the people around me on anything resembling a hill, a shame the course is so flat. Right leg somewhat bothersome warming up, as usual didn't notice anything during the race, then started tightening up noticeably on the crawling cooldown. Still looking for that raceday where I wake up feeling fresh and well-rested with my legs fully under me. Back to the grind for 9 more days.

Sat 11/5 - PM 30 minutes, ran to track, 4x200 untimed with 200 jog, then home. Legs feeling better than yesterday, a common theme of late, but still not quite all there, also a common theme. Spent the morning hacking away at bittersweet on a volunteer work day, at one point felt my right hammie twinge. That went along with more tightness in right hip. Got in a decent stretch afterwards and did some work on the hammie FWIW.

Fri 11/4 - PM 45+ minutes on the Longfellow loop. Looking for sure footing and little traffic in the darkness, gave Area 51 a pass for the day. Feeling better than yesterday, skipped the AM run to help the legs bounce back. Got in 8 pickups on the way in, felt good except for a nagging soreness in right hip. Warmer than normal again today.

Thu 11/3 - AM 19 minutes, 2.5 miles on treadmill PM 25 minutes, Maynard roads. Looking to do some strides, it wasn't happening, as DOMS set in from Tuesday. Packed it in upon realizing this, got in a good stretch afterwards. Big winds today.

Wed 11/2 - PM 50+ minutes, Columbus Ave to Washington to Green, loop around Franklin Park in the darkness, and then back. Some soreness in right knee but overall legs feel as good as can be expected for the day after a workout. Trails in the park are drying out nicely with the break from endless rains, footing on Sunday will be much better.

Tue 11/1 - AM 19 minutes, 2.5 miles on the treadmill. PM 20 minute tempo on the BC res-Cleveland Circle loop, followed by 8x30 second pickups with 1R. Tempo was right on the edge of the redline. Did a lap that was a tiny bit shorter (and a lot drier) than the one from two weeks ago, hit two laps in 18:43 (9:26, 9:17) and continued on. Felt an awful lot like a race at times, surges and the whole bit. Obnoxious, I wasn't leading the way, but I did choose to follow along. Pickups at the end were glorified strides, and felt fine. Continued warmer conditions, ever-present wind on the res. Warmup and cooldown were both on the quick side.

Mon 10/31 - PM 60 minutes in Area 51. Moving slowly most of the way, five pickups on the way in. Stiff and sore, esp. left psoas which I was noticing all day at work. The weekend's efforts caught up to me. Right hammie not quite all there.
