Sun 8/6 - PM 85 minutes in Walden woods. Spent a white night on the red eye, it would seem that no matter what the circumstance I'm not sleeping on a plane. As a result got home completely frazzled and spent much of the late morning/early afternoon unconscious. Back to running at sea level in the evening, the humidity was palpable even for what was a nice day. Despite the charley horse right quad and lingering tiredness from the flight, still moving with great ease. Feels odd to be able to power up hills. Legs got a little rubbery near the end, likely still tired from all the slipping and sliding yesterday.
Sat 8/5 - 125 minutes, Observatory Mesa to A-1 Mountain road, back via the 9012 "road" along the rr tracks. Last run in FLG, chose the route well in terms of length. Slippery footing along the railroad path got tiresome, lots of muddy spots. Yesterday's right hip troubles have migrated into the quad, feels like a charley horse at this point. Forced me to go easier Sunny, cool and dry, as per usual.
Fri 8/4 - AM 60 minutes to Buffalo Park and back. Right hip and thigh a total wreck, esp. the first 20 minutes. Limping along and hating it. Difficult to sleep due to my hip being in a knot. Things got a little bit better after some emergency massage of the IT band but overall it was just a slog. PM 50 minutes on Cambpell Mesa. After spending much of the afternoon massaging TFL and upper quad, right leg feeling better. Still stiff and sore and range of motion limited. Loosened up noticeably the last 10 minutes when I got off the trail and onto the road. Lots of muddy spots after the morning's rain.
Thu 8/3 - AM 20 minutes, easier than the other day. Feeling flat and tired. PM 30 minutes along the urban trail, followed by form drills and, eventually, 6x200 avg 32 seconds apiece. Long recoveries, these felt like the end of the world anyway. Strained my right hip doing them as well, overall a big mistake. Had a longish cooldown planned, but I knew I was done after feeling somewhat tired all day.
Wed 8/2 - PM 85 minutes on Observatory Mesa out and back. Despite the name, the mesa is one long false flat. I made it over the crest and onto the other side so two long uphill stretches and two long downhill stretches. A bit annoyed by the ruts and breeze and some stomach discomfort but still got moving fairly well the last half hour. Spent the morning driving to PHX again.
Tue 8/1 - AM 28 minutes too damn fast for such an early hour. Out and back to just beyond route 66 using urban trail. As relaxed as could be expected. PM 70 minutes, Rocky Ridge trail to Oldham, back via Buffalo Park. Rollercoaster trail kept things interesting. A few stops to regroup the campers. Worked some of the uphill stretches. Mostly hot and sunny day.

Mon 7/31 - AM 50 minutes, first 30 minutes very easy on flat ground followed by an out-and-back up the hill behind the dorm where I moved a little quicker. Feeling more light on my feet than I would have expected for the early hour. PM 60 minutes, mainly in Buffalo Park, with a couple of breaks. Tired, legs heavy at first, moving slowly for the first half of the run. Pace quickened slightly during latter stages, but overall keeping it mellow after yesterday's long day.
