Sun 9/5 - AM 11m in something around 80 minutes on the Ashuwillticook rail trail in Adams/Cheshire. Funny how all these rail trails are 11m long. Regardless, very easy start and flat course was perfect after yesterday's effort and tomorrow's race. Got bored the last 2m and picked up the pace more and more to get it over with. Rode the bike back. PM 25+ minutes on Gale very very easy. Drills and strides on the football field afterwards. Wanted to get drills in today.

Sat 9/4 - AM 160 minutes in Williamstown. Rt. 43 to Hopper Road, up over Deer Ridge thru Mt. Hope, to 5 corners, Sloan to Oblong to Berlin then up rt 2 to Bee Hill, up NW Hill road into the Forest and then back to the parking lot. Not nearly as hot and muggy as the last long run, but hit some decent hills. The climb up NW Hill, after 2+ hours of running and coming down Bee Hill, was particularly punishing. Took fluids every 25-30 minutes which staved off the worst of the dehydration. Right leg became increasingly tight and sore in the hip/ITB area, locked up in the usual places. The pace was neither too fast nor too slow, picked it up some the second half but took pains not to overdo it.

Fri 9/3 - AM 26 minutes easy. Did an odd loop that ended up taking longer than expected, picked it up about 8 notches the last 90 seconds to get back in time.

Thu 9/2 - AM 25 minutes very easy. Had some difficulty falling asleep last night, could be overtraining. Still able to get up in time for a run. Cool and calm, a relaxing experience overall. PM 80 minutes in Walden woods, incl. a loop around Farrar pond. . Feeling a bit peaked, made sure to take it easy at the start. Got rolling at times but found that uphill portions were taking a bit more out of me than normal. Drills and strides descalzo afterwards. Another perfect day, dry sunny and cool.

Wed 9/1 - AM 25 minutes easy. Still working on the earlier bedtime, experiencing some morning cobwebs. Cooler this morning but not as cool as I expected it to be. PM just over 60 minutes in Lincoln woods. Did some strange things with the pace for no good reason, various pickups and slowdowns. Overall not as spry as yesterday. Finished with 4 strides in the parking lot, felt pretty good. Another great afternoon weather-wise, warm enough for a dip in the pond but not humid.

Tue 8/31- AM 27 minutes real slow. Plodding more than usual I guess, as the loop took a couple of extra minutes. Raining and warm this morning. Tired, need to get to bed earlier. PM 75 minutes in Walden woods. Like yesterday, went 10 min. longer than planned. Unlike yesterday, legs felt good enough to crank up the pace the second half of the run on sections with good footing. Also able to do a brief set of drills and strides, bouncing back quicker than expected from Sunday's meltdown madness. Humidity broke during the day today, excellent dry conditions for the PM run.

Mon 8/30 - 90 minutes very easy in Walden woods. As expected, all-over tired today from the weekend's efforts. Legs still heavy with very little lift. Thought about doing some drills early on, realized it wasn't going to happen today after an hour or so. Went 10 minutes longer than planned, finished feeling run-down w/o feeling fatigued if that's possible. Another humid day but definitely better than yesterday.
