Sun 3/5 - AM 115 minutes in Walden woods. Hemmed and hawed over whether to stay more on roads or take it into the trails, chose the latter. Taking it easy, having been a long while since doing a run of this length. Still readjusting needless to say, actually went 10 minutes longer than planned. As expected, slipping and sliding on uneven surface led to very tired legs, esp. the last 30 minutes. Afforded some protection from the ever-present wind however, and it's been a long while since I've been able to run on these trails anyway. Right hip continues to feel stiff. Finished feeling tired
Sat 3/4 - AM truncated Lincoln tempo, the old familiar (hilly) course. 3 miles in 16:40, splits of 5:40, 5:40, 5:40. A combination of factors contributed to this dog of a workout. Very tired after staying up too late last night, cold windy conditions (of course) that made second mile in particular a slog, some lingering effects of being ill last week. Dragged out at an inappropriate pace to start, should have started out on my own at a slower pace. Having been so long away from this course, not the ideal set of circumstances to revisit old haunts.
Fri 3/3 - AM 30 minutes, similar loop to yesterday but not identical. Breeze combined with brisk morning temp froze my fingers, sore for hours afterwards. Ran slowly except for last 2 minutes. PM 45 minutes, twice around Fresh Pond with some excursions off the beaten path to side trails. The morning breeze metastasized into a relentless pounding NW wind. Some stiffness in hips still, likely leftover from the resumption of training after the forced 6 day layoff last week.
Thu 3/2 - AM 30 minutes, downtown Wellesley, Abbott Street to Wellesley Ave and looping around brook path area. Celebrating my freedom with a return to doubling. Very chilly conditions, left ankle somewhat stiff. Sunny, less wind. PM 70 minutes, Area 51. Started off too quickly, took a while to get settled in. DOMS in full effect from Tuesday. Despite this, able to pick up the pace the last 3-4 minutes. Clouds rolled in during the day, very threatening skies but hardly a flake ever flew.
Wed 3/1 - PM 50 minutes puttering around Wellesley, incl. the Morse Pond path to Overbrook and back thru Perrin Park. Started out very slow, feeling all manner of stiff. Pace picked up ever so slightly towards the end. Clear, cold windy day, again, other than the obnoxiously strong wind a nice day to be outside. After the run an unexpected and unwelcome stiffness set in on my left quad, likely aftereffect of running all those laps on a flat track yesterday. Final day of kiddie track, it's O-V-A over, hallelujah. I get my free time back.
Tue 2/28 - 8x400 w/200 float at HS girls' pace on Brandeis' flat track. 400s ranged 85-87 except for last one in 82, intervals all at or just under 52 seconds. Total time 18:12. Not especially hard, but harder than I would have liked given how slow the pace was. Right leg feeling predictably atrocious, only loosened up somewhat with the warmup. Still coughing at the end of runs, but not as much as Sunday. Short warmup and long 45 minute cooldown along an idyllic stretch of the Charles River. Bitter wind a constant companion.

Mon 2/27 - PM 50 minutes, 7m on the treadmill. Started at 7, up to 9.5 mph. Went a bit further than originally planned. Legs sore after yesterday's resumption of training activity. Right adductor/hip flexor in particular. Some tightness in right lower back developed near the end as a result of favoring this.
