Sun 2/5 - AM 65+ minutes, RLTAC to Arnold Arboretum and back along SW Corridor park. Puttering along most of the way, but at Jackson Square the fog suddenly and inexplicably lifted, and I jacked up the pace a lot for the last mile or so. Felt good after slogging along most of the way with dead legs. Still not sleeping well with dry scratchy throat. Weather still on the warm side but with intermittent showers, a nuisance.

Sat 2/4 AM 70 minutes, RLTAC to the river, east to Science Museum and then back to the track via downtown, the end quite similar to last Wednesday's run. Taking a break from the endless kiddie's meet. Very slow, as expected, unexpectedly pleasant conditions. A nice morning to be outside. Didn't sleep well at all last night with the scratchy throat, tossing and turning, the catch-22 in full effect. Can't get better until I get some rest, can't rest with the damn throat feeling so poor. PM 24 minutes, round trip from RLTAC to Whole Foods. Another break from the endless kiddies' meet to get my lunch. Conditions not quite as nice, much windier.

Fri 2/3 - PM RLTAC 2000-6:13 5R 1200-3:30 5R 1200-3:28 5R 400-62. Lost some of the mojo I got back yesterday, disappointing. Plus yesterday's strides left my right hip a bit stuck. Plus the scratchy throat is continuing on its inevitable progression. With all that going on, I didn't think I'd be able to finish the workout when the 2k felt a lot harder than 5 minute pace should have been. Decided to give it a go and the long recoveries made the rest of the workout possible. Cooldown was the same 25 minute crawlfest as Tuesday. Unseasonably warm conditions continue, so much for the blackbird days.

Thu 2/2 - PM 50 minute laundry run, 6 strides on River Street at the end. Feeling refreshed after a decent night's sleep, but dry scratchy throat has begun as well. Moving well much of the time, I feel like I've got some of my mojo back. We'll see how it holds up over the next three days.

Wed 2/1 - off. Got about 200m down the road, decided discretion would be the better part of valor, turned around and walked back home. Feeling way too tired and the effort/concentration for even an easy run was going to be too much. Getting to bed early last night was of course an impossibility as it always is on workout nights. In a vulnerable state at the moment, all the late bed times from last week just piled on top of one another. Hopefully I won't get sick and a few nights' decent rest will do the trick, readjusting to an earlier bedtime likely to be a gradual process.

Tue 1/31 - PM RLTAC 3x1200 3:32-3, 1000 in 2:58, 3.5R. Supposed to run 4x1200 and then 4x300 but I was completely sapped of strength by the time the last 1200 rolled around. Bailing out wasn't even a choice. Felt good during the warmup, but the underlying tiredness came to the fore soon after. Working too hard for the pace we were running. Felt like taking a nap trackside after I stopped. Definitely a cumulative effect of the past week of long busy days. Standing around outside in the wind-driven snow at kiddies' practice didn't help either. Cooldown lasted 25 minutes, started at a crawl and got slower from there.

Mon 1/30 - PM 45+ minutes on the Longfellow Loop. Tired feeling persists after four days in a row at track meets. First time in a week that I didn't have to drive into the city. Despite this, legs feeling spry, took off a bit too fast early on as a result. Calmed down after 30 minutes, did six pickups on the way home that felt quick but still tired underneath it all.
