Sun 12/4 - AM 4-section long run, with the second section being the Scott Bailey road race, approx. 4.3m (snow-shortened course) in just over 24 minutes. Winter wonderland conditions with three inches of snow on the ground, esp. off-road where I spent most of the 30 minute warmup and the 60+ minute cooldown. Break in the middle of the cooldown to get my booty for sandbagging the race. First mile of that seemed accurate in about 5:20, faster than I would have liked for the type of effort I hoped it would be. Didn't catch any splits after that but it did feel like things slowed down once the outcome was no longer in doubt, able to relax the second half of the race. Legs sore afterward from some slipping and sliding on the snow-covered parts.

Sat 12/3 - AM 3m in just under 24 minutes on the treadmill. Started at 6.5 mph and worked it up gradually from there until it was time to get off. Legs felt better than expected. Looking to get in some mileage over the weekend to counterbalance the utter lack of it during the week. Wired out of my mind after the workout last night, took a long time to fall asleep. PM 65 minutes, Area 51 patrol road. After the morning run, went to the kiddies' practice and stood around in the shrieking bitter wind for the better part of two hours, after which I got home and crawled into bed exhausted. Got some warmth back and went out for the evening run fully bundled. Moving well enough, run could have been longer but I'd had enough of being outside by that point.

Fri 12/2 - PM RLTAC 3x(400,400,800) 1.5R, 2.5R, 3R between sets. 400s were between 71 and 72 consistently, with last one a bit faster, close to 70. 800s of 2:25, 2:23, and 2:21. Moving well, didn't think I'd be capable of this pace at this level of effort, particularly as the workout came at the end of a week of feeling frazzled and at times exhausted. Helped that mileage was cut back so drastically over the course of the week. Right adductor somewhat problematic, needs work and more regular stretching. Wind picked up over the course of the day, temp dropping.

Thu 12/1 - PM 6 miles on the treadmill in 41 minutes. First week of indoor track season, and I'm already at the drastically reduced mileage level. Another late start. Slightly more ambitious pace on today's treadmill run compared to Monday's, started at 8 mph got up to 9.5. Calves sore as they usually are after running on a slight incline the whole time. Better stretch than yesterday but legs are still tight.

Wed 11/30 - PM 45 minutes in the Longfellow loop, 5 pickups on the way in. Thankfully, left thigh soreness has worked itself out for the most part. Late start led to keeping the run under an hour. Partial stretch afterwards.

Tue 11/29 - PM 30 min warmup to Comm Ave hill, 4 times up to the top and that was it. Cut the workout short as I had reached my limit and was going steadily backwards, each rep slower than the last. The weekend's efforts and Sunday's poor night's rest doing me in. Followed the crowd onto the dirt median, I should have stayed away from that uneven unseen craggy mess, as it did no favors to my left quad. Feeling it on the cooldown jog which was painfully slow. Sore afterwards. Definitely strained something in the lateralis and/or VMO, it'll be a few days before it's right again. Unseasonably warm weather.

Mon 11/28 - PM 48 minutes, 7 miles on the treadmill. Cycling the speed between 7.5 and 9.4 mph, every 30, then 45, then 60 seconds as things went along. Not sure I would even get a run in, as it was another Sunday night insomniac episode with a 3 am wakeup call to reset the furnace thrown in for good measure. Dragging ass big-time at work, felt soreness in both calves and right hammie as well. Then it was off to first day of practice for the kiddies. Got the usual energy spike for that, without so much the expected crash afterwards. Still unable to muster the motivation to dress up for running outside, stuck to the treadmill instead. Went fine until the last minute when my left thigh twinged out of the blue. Likely related to racing on the snow Saturday, feels like a strain of something deep in the quad but why it didn't show itself until the very end of the run I don't know.
