Sun 12/3 - AM Scott Bailey road race, 5.1 miles in 28:30. A smooth effort, under control and not overly taxing. That being said, feeling somewhat tired going in so I'm not sure I could have driven it harder if that had been the inclination. After a too-fast opening mile (assuming accurate measurement) of 5:15, settled into a 5:40-45 pace the rest of the way. Conditions nothing short of spectacular for this time of year, cool and sunny with negligible wind. Warmup and cooldown both in the neighborhood of 30 minutes. PM 30 minutes very easy. Both calves tight, esp. the right one. Hip much less so.

Sat 12/2 - AM 40 minutes very easy. Woke up and right hip felt like garbage. Limping for the first 10 minutes and it didn't get much better after that. Hammie is involved as well. Everything all gummed up. Just skirted the edge of Area 51 but forgot my orange hat and vest and saw hunters immediately upon hitting the trail so I was right back out. PM 50+ minutes, supermarket run. Got in some serious massage work on the leg, more compressions on the edge of a chair, which were quite necessary. While the hammie is still sore and tender to the touch, much better mobility in the hip joint. A relief. Hopefully it won't lock up overnight.

Fri 12/1 - PM RLTAC 1600 5:10, 5R, 8x400 avg. 72 with 80 second recoveries. The initial mile felt right on the mark. Aiming for a progression with the quarters, started too fast with a 73 and then couldn't get below a high 71 by the end, when I was hoping to do the last two below 70. Feeling the effort more than I'd like for this pace, another indication of lackluster fitness at this point. Rubber legs and the whole bit. During the course of the day at work right hip became stuck and bound up somehow, very frustrating. Did some work on it after the 20 minute warmup jog and was able to get through the workout but it's felt better. Not able to really fire on all cylinders during the cooldown.

Thu 11/30 - PM 50 minutes, Maynard roads. Feeling better except for annoying TFL tightness that gradually worsened over the course of the run. Feeling it in the hammie as well by the end, as these things are all connected. Everything felt much better after some compressions on the hamstring which was a relief. Pace got going a little quick at times during the run, as it was a shorter one. Obnoxiously warm.

Wed 11/29 - 75 minutes, Area 51. Took it easy, feeling tired from the long days this week. Right achilles sore from yesterday, other than that legs not having any major problems. Chilly dank conditions.

Tue 11/28 - PM 65 minutes incl. 4xhill springing up Thompson street. Feeling tired and flat after not sleeping enough last night. Some soreness in right hammie.

Mon 11/27 - 75 minutes, River Street to White Pond, back via Summerhill. Feeling much better than yesterday. moving along briskly much of the way. Focused on posture and pelvic position such that the familiar progressive hip soreness that's gone along with recent runs of any length wasn't an issue. Made the whole experience much more edifying.
