Sun 1/1 - AM 65 minutes, Area 51. Fresh coat of powder on the ground, colder temps froze the stuff underneath so the trails were much more passable than during the warm spell last week. Taking it easy after yesterday. PM 4.25m on the treadmill in 30 minutes. Very straightforward, 7.1 to 9 mph ticking up the speed every minute. Felt better than expected.

Sat 12/31 - AM Lincoln flat tempo, 4.3m in 24:00. Splits of 5:30, 5:25, 2:20 on the turnaround, 5:25, and 5:20. Felt like dog poop, tired from the word go. That combined with the dank cold conditions made it a forgettable effort. No wind, but just cold and humid enough to make it miserable. Tried to open it up a little bit towards the end, basically racing the last half mile or so, got a shiny 5:20 for my efforts. Feeling esp. wiped out on the cooldown, glad to be done.

Fri 12/30 - PM 65 minutes, Parker to River St, then Stow Rd. to Red Acre and back via White Pond and Summerhill. The "other" standard length wintertime road loop besides Longfellow. Legs didn't appreciate the ice and overall uneven footing of yesterday's PM run, esp. hamstrings. Cold symptoms now progressing in familiar fashion, sore throat seems past and replaced by runny nose. Winter's always fun that way. Colder and windier today than it has been lately, ablation conditions might be at an end for a little while here.

Thu 12/29 - AM 30 min, 4m on the treadmill. 6.5 to 9 mph. Still skirting the edge of illness, but feeling better than yesterday. PM 45 minutes, Area 51. Track Road a hockey rink, subpar footing as expected on most trails in the woods as well. Mostly just an easy effort, albeit with six pickups on the way in. Perked up over the course of the day, feeling much better than 24 hours ago. Working again tomorrow so that may change.

Wed 12/28 - 45 sloooow crappy minutes on the Longfellow loop. Feeling like utter garbage, the dry scratchy throat back with a vengeance, making sleeping hard again. The long day yesterday had something to do with it no doubt. Came home from work dead tired. Not moving well at any point during the run, strongly considered a walking break but what's the point when you're already shuffling along at 9 min/mile.

Tue 12/27 - PM 15 minute jog from Coolidge Corner to RLTAC, lunch in hand. Basic transportation, but long enough to count for something. later PM RLTAC 6x800 2.5R 2:21 avg, last two just under 2:20. One of the best workouts in a while, not coincidentally coming in the midst of vacation time. Very consistent, working to hit the pace but not killing myself to do it. The lunch from earlier in the day was the source of some concern, being as it was a big one, but no issues other than some burping.

Mon 12/26 - AM 65 minutes, Area 51. Still feeling more tired than I'd like, slogging along. Tried to traverse some of the trails, after last night's rain the footing got worse with packed snow turning to slush. Fingers froze the last 10 minutes after getting them wet while crossing Taylor brook. Like Saturday, skipped the planned PM run, feeling like it would just drag me down further.
