Long long ago...

I forgot to mention that, when my Mum & Dad were visiting, we all went for dinner at Emily & Ashley's place.
It was the strangest coincidence. My parents were supposed to pick me up after work, but of course they had to come early just as I was arriving AT work. And Emily was there too, since she came to say hi as she was passing the library only to discover my parents were in town!! Em hasn't visited me at the library for MONTHS, so it was really a weird coincidence. I ran over to Dad and glomped him, and then I gave Mum a hug and kiss, & then Emily said "give me a hug as well!" so I hugged her too. XD This was all outside the children's library, so it was pretty funny^^
So they left me in the library, but not before Em had invited us to tea the next night.
Keri and Ali-of-the-capital-a, I believe you guys wanted a RL Aoki? Well, apart from my Dad, Emily is also married to one. Ashley is extreeeeeeeeemely tall, thin, has reasonably broad shoulders, and wears a suit to work. Dad is old now, *mischevious grin* but he was quite the looker in his time. They both have glasses.
And they get on like a house on fire. It's really cute. *^^* Dad has only met Ash all of three times, but they always get talking like they've known each other for ages. Last new years, Em & Ash were with us at the mountains (north island, that is), and when Ashley and Dad had the camera they were fooling around with it taking heaps of funny photos of each other.
I digress. Emily was making her famous lentil-suprise for dinner (and that girl can do amazing things with lentils *licks lips and gets hungry*), Ashley was talking to us three, and we were admiring the view from their top floor windows. The south island has real mountain ranges (the Kaikouras, inaccessible) as well as the Southern Alps (AKA the film set for LOTR, XD) - the alps is all you can see from flat ol' Christchurch.
They're so lucky to have a view!!!!! And their house is so cool. Ashley helped design some of it (he's a clever boy ^_^); it has these cool lights at the bottom of the walls so that the walls are lit from below. Freaky cool.
So we ate, walked in the garden, & then played this great game of speed Scrabble (SUCH an improvement on the original game). Dunno why I'm spouting about all this except that it was a fun night. ^_~

I only just found out that Ragabash linked me! 0.0!! *blinks several times and falls over* I don't believe it, the great Ragabash linking ME? Why, what, where, how, etc!!!! That's so cool. I'm happy now. ^____^

Hey, you know what? I should write only Karen fics, & you should write Keiichi fics, and that would TOTALLY confuse everybody! XD No, there aren't enough Karen fics out there. Lord knows that there is only ONE, count it, ONE Dai-kun fic.^^;;;
I agree with what you said about the canon/fanon debate. X's plot is completely meandering, interspersed with a few thought-out-in-advance set-pieces. If it wasn't for Fuuma, the whole story would've fallen apart long ago. Although I like the morality issues pointed out in X, of course this was better done in TB.
Everyone should be free to do whatever fan-stuff they're inspired to do, whether it be WAFF or angst or neither. Or boys smooching. ^_^
*laughs* Oh dear, the cat conspiracy. Listen, I've had Mayo keeping me awake at nights because she's mad about the kitten, and my room looks like a bomb hit it since Sushi decided to play in there. The moral? Cats are a pain in the butt. Especially when you love them as much as I love Mayo, & you are basically her slave to be on-call 24/7 *suddenly has understanding for the Dai/Hinoto situation* And BECAUSE they are cute, they do expect you to be their slave. OTOH, I love them ^_~
Goodness! I'm glad you like the Kei-pic. He's one of the few characters that I'm willing to spend two whole weeks tearing out my hair, cursing Mokona's style, yelling about how the nose isn't right, rubbing-out (sorry, ERASING heheh) and re-drawing eyes a hundred times, almost throwing it in the bin several times...& all the rest of it. It's not that I made it extra nice, it's that I didn't give up on it after two days like most pics I do. ^__~
As for his earings, well you should see his other ear *wide grin*
Of course I know Azure! And let me just squeal here for a sec...OMG she has such a cute voice!!!!! Never mind that she was saying "Oh, come O~on!" in an irritated way to her computer - I am smitten. *^.~* Azure is as adorable an s/ker as you could ever find. And that Fuuma line from the web-o-drama reigns supreme as the funniest ever IMHO. :P
It must be so cool to have snow at Xmas! It would seem kinda surreal to me, though. Xmas s'posed to be all barbeques and pool-parties. ;p
No, Keiichi doesn't have a crush on Kamui. He goes all out to make Kamui be friends with him, but seriously, that is all he wants. They don't even hold hands properly. A lot of the time, Keiichi acts like a little kid, with that kind of innocence which comes from just not knowing better. I like the idea of him returning Kamui's briefs...

I cannot express the wildness that occured on Thursday!! I spent most of the time reading 'Fire and Hemlock' (actually I finished it. And I was right about the Tam Lin thing *smug smirk*...the ending kind of reminded me of 'Charmed Life'. Which is a good thing, I LOVE Charmed Life), and amazingly managed to co-incide on chat with Lika-chan, raaar *big happy smile*

Speaking of that particular devil; um, the Castle bathroom is infested with a bubbly blonde (guess who XD) and hopefully there's a rubber duckie there somewhere too.
Yuuto/Nokoru are too old to be called 'boys', XD, so think under 19. Names starting with D and K. The former is related to Aoki. XD XD XD
The comic shop in this city is called 'Comic's Compulsion', & never a truer (or crueler XD) name could there be. I went there today, in fact. Compulsively. XD

And just after I post that last entry, I find that my Keiichi pic is up at the shrine. Whoo-hoo! *beams* I'm so happy Nadia liked it! *^__^*

This is the picture that hangs on my wall. I started it initially because CLAMP were obviously never going to do a colour pic of him in a million years, so I figured I'd better be a bit self-sufficient & do one myself. It took me TWO WEEKS to complete - I kept wanting to throw it away or start over again about twenty times a day.^^;;;
For one thing, Keiichi's on the grass (boy, was that a pain to paint! Nasty bad grass! I can't paint for love nor money) lying down in the sunlight, squinting; but I really wanted to do his big bug-eyed expression. His CUTE expression. However, the sunlight suited him so well that I left it as is. It's how I imagine Kei-chan will look when he's older (about 19 years old). You can tell that it's true love, can't you. Heheh. Just by seeing how much detail I bothered to put in (how d'you like the earings? *nikoniko*)
And I had an INORDINATE amount of fun splatting blue paint at Keiichi :D Hee. *^^*

There's yet ANOTHER octupus in my pants and I think I like it, at 11:44 a.m.

A Fool Knows Everything and Nothing.

Keiichi is also the only regularly occuring character who knows absolutely nothing about The End of the World. Doesn't even have an inkling. And he is honest to a fault, so anything he says is put simply & plainly. There are no big speeches about Wishes or Dreams from him.
Which makes him the most valuble person Kamui could talk to, since it is Keiichi who says "there was nothing I could do" and Kamui considers this and thinks "there's something I can do..."
It's as simple as that. That is Keiichi's purpose in X. He knows both everything and nothing.

Natalie once said something along the same lines:

So it might very well be that Keiichi with his excessively bubbly good nature and his complete lack of knowledge about this whole end of the world thing will somehow waltz through the final battle and in so doing will inspire our young prince (ie, Kamui) to some better, more effective use of his power.
Well, he already did remind Kamui about the usefullness of being ABLE to stop the earthquakes. It wasn't particularly subtle.

And for those of you who are alarmed at the thought of a Kamui/Keiichi pairing being part of that resolution, consider this:
In the end, however, the fool remains a lone figure. Like the catalyst in a chemical reaction, the fool is necessary for the comic transformation, but at the end of the play he remains unchanged, inviolate, and eternal. He may not join the order he has helped to bring about. Without him, Jack would not have Jill [or Kamui have Subaru --N], and all would go ill, but the fool must stay unattached. The romantic couples go off to their wedding chambers two-by-two, but the fool, like the cheese, stands alone.
Oh, there's absolutely no chance, with Kamui at least. Keiichi did change, though, from uber-genki to just resolutely cheerful (in X 12 & 14 he totally loses any genkiness)...and he's one of those people who despite being perpetually alone is fairly staunch about it. He will survive.

BTW, don't read 'I Am the Cheese'. It's a horrible book.

*laughs* If Kei-chan gets into the TV series, I'm hoping like heck that they'll give him some REALLY cheesey theme music. Like 'Hawaii five-0' or something. XDDDD
However, he has a wide range of smiles, from the first crackhead-genki smile to the final warm-genuine smile. As someone once mentioned on the Venus Gospel guestbook, Keiichi shows the other side of grieving & uses his smiles/laughter as his walls.
And it's true that the main reason I relate to him is (I'm sure you'll be shocked to learn ^_~) that I also smile all the time.

In any case, thanks so much for your Kei-essay, Lika-chan! I love yo~ou! *^__^* I see what you're saying about him not representing the rest of humanity (after all, every Dragon represents some aspect of Humanity, especially Karen & Satsuki *waves to them*), it was mainly just that I find the notion of Keiichi gaining super-powers quite abhorrent, as he has such a poinant little role which would be WRECKED if he was anything other than 'normal'.
