Of course all of the stories told about what happened there a year ago are horrifying, there's no other word for it. However, I'm amazed at the courage shown by just ordinary people...and very impressed at how they can pull together during terrible fear & tragedy.

And (onto some other post which I forgot to link^^) as for the 'lack of gay' problem on X TV (that's not necessarily a bad thing, BTW, as it probably reflects the balanced amount of Otherdragon stuff ^_^)...I'm very sorry that the Tie scene didn't make it, & am simply grateful that Aoki's side-story did. Hopefully those fans who are more into shonen ai than windmasters (hey! Do you know what the Japanese for 'windmaster' is, by any chance? Cos I'd really love to know *_*) will come to enjoy that side-story now that it's been given the full sound-and-motion treatment. ^_^ Huh Lika-chan (or should I call you 'Miss Tentacles'? Yes darling, I really was looking for glow-stickers. ^_^ The weirdest thing regarding birthday presents was, however, the fact that I bought a bubble-blowing kit the day before my birthday & then when I opened my present from Emily one of the things contained therein was - you guessed it - a bubble-kit.^^;;; Ok, it could just be that the people closest to me know I like bubbles & glowing things (& sparklie things!!!! mmmmmmm ^_______^), but I prefer to think of it as some bizare cosmic significance ^_~. LOL, you lasted out three months in the X Files fandom before having to apologise for flaming? That must be some kind of record, huh, Lika-chan? *teasing wink* Perhaps your X fics are better than your X Files fics...OTOH it turns me on way more to think of you writing aliens and spaceships and whale song!! *dribbles like a true sf fangirl* XD As for whether yours fics are any good at all, well, I adore them. <3 Some fics I read because they feature favourite characters, some just because they're well-written; your fics, Lika, I read purely for enjoyment. Hmmmm, well ok, a fair amount of teeth-grinding over the S/K ones, LOL, but I still do read them, which I guess says it all. And yeah, I know I'm horribly biased. *^__^* Except that I am a very fussy reader - I don't like Charles de Lint's full-length novels (only his short stories), & no matter how much I love Diana Wynne Jones I just can't get into her 'grown up' books. So you must be doing something right, Lika-chan. :p (BTW, what's a 'WIP' ????? And is there any other way I can get my hands on Marital Bliss? Uh, is it in the CFFML postings somewhere?)
Sats, I'm unsure about heavy cream and shortening and ounces too! =) Self-raising flour, though, I can explain as it's in NZ. It's flour with the baking soda and baking powder already added, & it works very well. ^_^ I asked Dad today about the cram & he immediately handed me 'The Complete Guide to Middle-Earth' off his bookshelves (you should see it; about 3 or 4 shelves devoted to Tolkien. He's such a fanboy. XD) So here is your answer: Cram Travelling food prepared by the Men of Esgaroth, a hard and tasteless but very nutritious biscuit or small cake. Aren't I a good roomie? ^_-

At the moment I'm getting freaked out by Charles de Lint, courtesy of his novel 'Mulengro'. Does it seem strange that I don't like his novels all that much? I mean, he's a good writer, but his novels aren't anything special, whereas his short stories are like gob-smaking WOW, like they take you out of your world into somewhere else & are just amazing. Still I persevere, since he lives in the same city where thesefairmaidensabide, so I'm interested to read his descriptions of the place. ^___^ And besides, it is a well-writen & VERY scarey book. Go, Chaz-baby! LOL

Well, sweetie, we returned from a day of worshipping His Royal Quinn-ness (XD) to find the poor letterbox completely overloaded because of a certain package ~!! :D Wowzees! Now THAT'S what I call a birthday pack! *^___^* Bob and Co. making birthday cake cracked me up. *giggles* I love the lil' lunchbox and have been carrying it about with me ^_-. Glow stickers; uh, I was just thinking about two days before my birthday that I need more glow stickers for my bedroom ceiling...have you got a direct line to my brain or something, Lika-chan? LOL But in any case I couldn't find any stickers at the shops - whoa, cosmic! *twilight zone music* XD And C. C. fuckin' S. !!!!!!!!!! (I also only swear when I really mean it! ^_~) It's like a drug, I just can't get enough, so thanks for the fix! ;p Oh! The LotR temporary tattoo is great! On Buffy: Predictably, I'm annoyed that they're making Willow be a junkie. My poor, sweet, funny Willow! Darn cold^^;;; At least it's nearly over now. This week I've found out that when your modem is stuffing up, tears, threats, pleadings and beatings don't work in fixing the problem! LOL Thank goodness for the computer experts who have a shop across the road from our house; they were very sweet & even explained to me what a modem actually is (never knew before, XD). I also found out (thanks to the LOTR CD) that the elven song about the entwives is utterly sad and heartbreaking! *sobs* I've been crying all day over it, which is very disconcerting. My natural state is genki!! *makes face* ...oh yeah, Bilbo's song of the Road is very sad as well. JRR TOLKIEN, HOW DARE YOU DEPRESS ME! CEASE AND DESIST, MAN! ^_~

OH!!! Erjika, welcome back! I'm glad you had a good time in Japan! *^^* NZ has snow only at the tops of the taller mountains - enough to ski, etc, but you have to go TO the snow rather than it coming to you. LOL We did have one night of freak snow around the houses this year; it's so not the norm & was only snowing for about two hours!!!!! Weird! It's much warmer in the North island, cold in the South except the scenery is a lot more dramatic & cool (re: LOTR movie. Take hoards of murderous Orcs out, & you have what NZ looks like in RL, *XDDDDD*).

Dad found a LOTR CD set which he was dying for, & bought it as a birthday treat for me. *snik* (a birthday isn't a birthday without relatives giving you stuff they want, XD) 4. Saw Quinn-chibi, who was much more smiley & alert this time (was kinda sleepy last time). 5. My wonderful sis-in-law made me a GIGANTIC and insanely chocolatey cake! *glomps her* I luv Lois ^_^.
