Since this weekend, something between my aunt and I have been broken. A link that was just fine, turned into the answer I was looking for a good bunch of time. The root of my fear in my family has been her alone, for many years now.
Today, after leaving the school library at 3:00, I walked the few blocks to my other job to wait until the doors were open at 3:30. I generally go to my grandmother's house, just opposite the library to drink something fresh, relax on the couch and wait till the library's open to go to work. Today, I couldn't make it to the very door of that house. So I remained standing in front of the library's door. I picked the book I bought in Rosario this weekend and started reading just where I left the day before. I looked down and heard some noises. Metallic noises coming from my right. I recognised the sound of my grandmother's garage door opening to get the car out.
Close to 3:30, I knew it was my aunt, going to her work. I didn't look up. Instead of, I looked at the corner where a lost man was asking the workers at the restauration of the library about something. I called him and told him the library was open at 3:30. In the meantime, the sound of the car and the doors closing came to my ears. I looked down again and sank my eyes in the book. The car passed just in front of me and though I did not look at it I knew my aunt drove it.
I just stood there, reading as I waited for my job to open its doors.
Today, while sitting in my living-room, I thought about all that. And knew that no, I won't remain here for a long time.
