v24 // I finally broke down and decided to use some of the awesome fanart that people have been sending us for Sainan no Kekka, Quicksilver's and my Gundam Wing epic sequel fanfic...thingy. Fanart of Atsuki by silversphinx. Fanart of Darkflight by Spite as a birthday present for me. ^^;; Song lyrics from #1 Crush, by Garbage
I will wait for you
I'd make room for you
I'd sink ships for you
Take the cross for you
Make me a part of you
Because I believe in you
I believe in you
I would die for you

Well, Commander's Call finally happened today (yesterday? ^^;; it's already Sunday) It was weird walking into that room and realizing that I really am a POC now. It's like I've waited 2 years for this and I can't believe it's real. It was good though, seeing everyone that I hadn't seen over the summer. All the people who just came back from Lackland III were still talking about camp. I thought it was rather amusing.
The 400s were bums, as always, which didn't surprise me. We have a rather weak 400 class, so I think my class will be the ones who really push stuff. There are a few good 400s. It's about half and half, I think, but the 400 class is so small that half and half doesn't really do them much good.
I'm Bravo flight commander. Josh is Alpha flight commander, so he's in my squadron. Kevin is Charlie flight commander, and Javier Escobar is Delta. We got together after the real CC and decided that we were going to have all our GMC on the same page. No more of what happened last year, with everyone learning something different. We're going to do the basic stuff by the book so that everyone knows what's going on. We also decided that we were going to emphasize both squadron and flight unity, which I think is one of the most important things that you can learn when you're a GMC and that we didn't learn last year at all.
Apparently, the 200 class lost 50% of their people during the summer. That's insane. That means there are about 10 AS200 cadets left in the corps. I feel sorry for their class...all the strong cadets stayed, though, so that's a relief. There are 50 POC, which Fargo says is the largest number of POC in the corps that he can remember. There are 60 GMC. That means we'll be gaining a massive number of AS100s and makes about 15 cadets per flight. Not nearly as big the flights at camp, but a pretty decent-sized number.
I was both surprised and pleased that Fargo had some really good ideas to share with us today. A key thing was he wanted the POC to focus more on leadership and less on paperwork, which I agree with. Also, the squadron commanders are going to have a bigger role this year, which I also agree with. We'll see how things go, but if all his policies hold true, this could be a very good semester.
Enough of my ROTC related rambling. I'm just really looking forward to the Fall 2001 semester. It could be good or it could be bad; it's all about what we make of it. But then, isn't it always?

Well, today was going to be a free day where I could get online and whatnot, but both my roommates decided to finish moving in today. So my free time quickly vanished as I helped them sort and carry luggage. ^^;;
Then I went to Wal-Mart to get a binder and stuff to put my SLS pictures in. While I was there I decided to check out the CD section, because I had this sudden craving for Spanish music...I get these weird urges sometimes. So even though I didn't have very much money left, I moseyed into the Spanish music section and found a copy of the CD Uno, by La Ley. I think they're an Argentinian group (I'm not quite sure), but I first discovered their music early last year. They're the only real rock band I've heard from the Spanish music industry, but they're GOOD. If you remotely know any Spanish, I'd recommend this CD. It was actually nominated for a Grammy...that's how good they are. Or even if you don't speak Spanish, I'd recommend the CD anyway, because it's that good. La Ley kind of reminds me of L'Arc~en~Ciel in their music style and especially the way their vocalist sings. Their music is a lot more poppish than Laruku stuff, but it runs in the same vein. Some very fun songs on that album. XD
Anyway, just wanted to make it known that I'm not dead, just...busy. I'll try to be on tomorrow. Exar, sounds like you're having fun marching XD XD XD Did you do the ice dance after practice?

Well, today I went to Lackland III Field Training graduation.
It was weird, walking onto that parade field and seeing the flights lined up in alphabetical order, two groups, wing commander, and everything. I had a weird sense of deja vu as I looked at those cadets. I remember when I was standing there. We were so close to freedom...only a couple hours away. I think that's the best parade I've ever marched in.
The Lackland III cadets were no different, really. Their parade was a little different than ours, and so was their actual graduation ceremony, but it was still field training graduation. The FTOs and the CTAs were there, and afterwards everyone was congratulating everyone else and then we went to lunch and told camp stories all afternoon. I hadn't realized how much I actually missed camp until we started telling stories...yeah, that's right. Missed camp. It sucked while I was there, but afterwards, looking back, it was fun. It really was.
We had 15 cadets from our detachment at Lackland III, and out of that we had 3 DGs and 2 SPs. I was real happy for them. I don't know about honor and warrior flights...I would have loved to see someone's flight from our det get encampment warrior flight. But we got there a little late, and they had already started officer's center when we walked into the bleachers. As I said above, it was strange watching them. I was sitting next to my friend Amber, and she leaned over and whispered, "It seems like only yesterday, we were here too." I agree.
On another note, I found out today that I'm going to be a flight commander next semester. HOO-RAH! That's the only position I've ever wanted in the detachment (except for wing commander, but you have to RUN for that XD). I don't know what flight I got, but I'm going to cadet orientation to meet the new AS100 cadets and hopefully get to talk to a couple of them. It'll be interesting to see what kind of class we get this year. I'm excited. I have big plans for my position...and for me, it's kind of like camp. It doesn't matter if we get honor or warrior flight. I know that now. All I want to do is to give these underclassmen a taste of what the Air Force is like and to steer them in the right way. THEY are the new future of the Air Force. Seems like yesterday I was there too...
Anyway, enough nostalgia. That's where I've been all day. I also went to uniform and clothing supply after graduation and got me a new pair of corframs (the shiny leather dress shoes that POC get to wear). My old low quarters were falling apart, and at first I didn't want to get corframs because I wanted to spend my money on a cool pair of combat boots. But, well...I guess my shoes had other plans for me. So now I have the same pair of yucky combat boots that I went to camp with, that have scratches on the toe from the low crawl at FTX, and a nice shiny new pair of corframs. Weird how that works.
Enough from me. I will be online all day tomorrow, hopefully. We have Commander's Call on Saturday, and that's the day ROTC officially starts. So I'm enjoying my free time while I can. Ja ne!

Well, it's still boring around here, but I figured I'd give you guys an update anyway. XD XD I didn't do much today...I was gonna go to bed early last night but SOME people decided to do a chat and kept me up until 3:30 AM. ^__^ So I woke up this morning at around 11:30 and did nothing.
I went the anime store and got some more posters and the Macross II soundtrack. It's an awesome soundtrack. I love it. I dunno if it's the real soundtrack or a "best" collection or what (it's one of the Taiwan copy CDs, of course) but it has BGM from the series and a couple of vocal songs (Riding in your Valkyrie, Koi no Banana Moon, etc). The ending song is really cool. I'd never heard it before. And also, I noticed I recognized most of the BGM...most, if not all, the BGM on the Macross 7 Radio Fire! CD is stole-erm, I mean, taken, from Macross II.
I'm rediscovering Penicillin (the band, not the medicine ^^;;) Hakuei's voice really appeals to me, for some reason, which is weird because A) he's sharp and B) he sounds like he's having convulsions every time he opens his mouth. Must be the vibrato. ^^;;; But though he can't sing, he sounds cool. I dunno. Anyway, Romance is a really good song, if you want to hear some Penicillin. XD
I'm hungry...think I'll go make some dinner.

Well, I thought I was done with moving, but apparently not. ^^;;; One of my other roommates moved in today, and came with the family truck and car loaded down full of stuff. There was a bed and a desk and tons of boxes from the storage area where they'd been keeping unneeded stuff. Anyway, I got to work those muscles a bit that I haven't used since camp. Fun stuff. Now I'm sore. ^^;;;
Neesan, I agree completely about Gackt. He's certainly....one of a kind, isn't he? XD XD Seriously though, the kind of stuff Gackt gets away with, I doubt anyone else in the WORLD could pull off except for him. ESPECIALLY the outfits. *dies* There are some that are just...*hides*
Quicksilver and I got a blog for SnK! Read all about our exploits and adventures at http://snk.pitas.com.
I guess I haven't been blogging much, but there's nothing going on. If there was, I'd blog, but I doubt you want to hear about the 10 hours I spent sitting in front of my computer and staring like a zombie at the screen. On a better note, I put up all my anime posters. I think I am going to the anime store tomorrow to get more. You can never have too many posters!
OK I am going now. I sound really genki. Must be the caffeine...*totters off*

even if all alone
you lost sight of everything
even if you would still
try to move forward
come to me and take my hand
even if you have
only a single wing
even if i have
only one wing left
even if you lost
everything you believed in
even if the only thing left
for you was despair
I beg you, hear my prayer
in an era full
of wingless angels
even if you have
no wings left
even if i had only
one wing left, then

Finally found the translation to this song while looking through some random Japanese music page and decided to post it. In case you don't remember, I went through a phase of obsession with this song a few weeks back and actually bought the single in Japan. ^^;; It reminds me of Atsuki *points to blond girl in this week's blog layout* Anyway, I hope everyone had a nice weekend and didn't miss me too much! I am all unpacked and settled into my new apartment. All I have left to do is put the remainder of my posters on my walls.
And I have a new car. Toyota Corolla 2001. Used, not new, though everyone always thinks it's new cause it's a 2001. It's not. XD I put Hide stickers on the back so it's easily identifiable.
