[ AND THE WORD OF THE DAY IS... :: NICHIYOUBI 4.29.01 :: GOGO 6:38 ]
EOE!!!!!!
[ POW/MIA :: NICHIYOUBI 4.29.01 :: GOZEN 1:32 ]
There is a group who cannot be with us tonight. They answered our nation's highest calling and have yet to return from the field of battle.
They call them POWs and MIAs. We call them uncles, fathers, brothers, and friends.
The table at the front of the room is set in their honor and to their memory.
The hats from the four services remind us of the unity of purpose shared by our comrades in arms.
The lone table symbolizes the frailty of one prisoner against his oppressors.
The tablecloth is white, symbolizing the purity of their intentions to respond to their country's call to arms.
The single rose displayed in a vase reminds us of the families and the loved ones of our comrades in arms who kept the faith.
The ribbon tied so prominently on the vase is reminiscent of the red ribbon worn on the lapel and breast of thousands, which symbolizes their unyielding determination and demand for proper accounting of our missing.
A slice of lemon is on the bread plate to remind us of their bitter fate.
There is salt on the plate, symbolic of the families' tears as they wait.
The glass is inverted, for they cannot toast with us tonight.
The chair is empty. They are not here.
Remember, all of you who served with them and called them comrades, who depended upon their might and aid and relied upon them, for surely they would not have forsaken you.
A toast with water, to those who so honorably served and as yet are unaccounted for.

SHUUUUUUUMATSU DESUUUUU!!!!!!!!!! XD
Neesan, good luck at your...thing this weekend. I'll be thinking of you!
Well, I was going to get up at 10 this morning, but of course that didn't happen. I have a scrapbook to finish and Honor Guard at 5...bleh. The scrapbook is actually a POP scrapbook of this semester, and since we're having a little gathering at Boris' apartment tomorrow night, Shannon and I thought it'd be cool if we could finish it by then and present it there, kind of like a thank-you gift. ^^;; Unfortunately I've hardly started my portion of it, so guess what I'm going to be doing all weekend??? XD
Act 5 part 1 of SnK is posted, finally. QS, I'm sorry if I gave you a hard time...I'm a very scheduled person ^^;; I'll try to be less pushy. I think it turned out pretty good, though. ^_^
Umm...off to the Co-op to buy tape. Ja mata!!!

[ ACT ON INSTINCT :: KINYOUBI 4.27.01 :: GOGO 1:40 ]
Listening to: Command & Conquer, Demolition
*dies*
The greatest thing in the world happened tonight. I was writing Noin's section for SnK and wondering what kind of music would fit the battle scene that I was thinking of. Happening to remember that some of the computer games I used to play had battle-type music, I decided to go online and look.
How could I have forgotten the wonderful, incomparable, and absolutely kickass soundtrack of Command and Conquer? ^^;; That game was/is my favorite computer game of all time. Sure, C&C Red Alert and Tiberian Sun might have cool plotlines and neat gadgets and great graphics, but C&C is what started it all. I'll never forget setting up my construction yard to the music of Act on Instinct or turning out mammoth tanks to Industrial or sending grenadiers across enemy lines to Rain in the Night. Trust me, machine gun fire sounds a hell of a lot scarier when a soft, mysterious BGM like Rain in the Night is playing. I remember how I hated those obelisks of light, or how sometimes flamethrowers would end up sending themselves up in flames instead of the enemy. I usually played Nod, but GDI had better technology. It wasn't fair. ^^;; Nod was so much cooler than GDI.
The best part was the massive troop buildup to the offensive at the end. Watching my troops storm through the other guy's base and raze and plunder everything in their path was vindication for how many of my guys had been killed in failed raids earlier. Of course, I'd have my engineers ready to take over their power plants and construction yard too. And we can't forget the infamous "CC Edit," which could instantenously reduce the cost of everything to $1. Need a grenadier? No problem. $1. A Hand of Nod? $1. Tiberium harvester? $1! ^^;; I really never used CC Edit, but it was my brother's prime source of amusement. He put lasers on everything. It got to the opint where the chain link fences and minigunners had lasers too. ^^;;
And of course we can't forget the tiberium and Dr. Mobius. That dude annoyed the hell out of me, but he was funny (in retrospect, of course).
Anyway, the point of this is that C&C rocks and so does its soundtrack. If I had to pick any strategy game to play again, it'd be C&C. Too bad my computer doesn't have enough room on the HD for me to load it. When I get another HD, though, it's definitely going on there. It's such a time consuming game, but the gameplay is more than worth it.
Ooh...Warfare is playing...that's one of the best tracks of the game.

ONE MORE WEEK OF SCHOOL LEFT!!!!! XD
Yes everyone, you're most welcome for the nice haikus that I sent you in the mail XD I think I'm going to print them out and post them all over my computer so I can recite them when the damn thing DOES die. (Not that that's such a foreign occurance...especially to my poor overworked machine ^^;;)
I changed my image song. The lyrics to the new one, Gackt's EMU ~For My Dear~ are posted down below...it's not that I'm still unwilling to forget what happened last year and move on, but this song will always remind me of it. And I figure what better way to let the demons go?
If you missed that entry, it's in the first entry in blog archive #15, April 20, 2001.
Err...going to go take a nap for a bit. QS, are you up to speed? Are we posting tonight, or waiting until tomorrow? I have Wufei's image song translated.

Gerald: nope
Gerald: at first it was kinda cute
Gerald: it looked like it was asleep
Gerald: then the fur started falling off
Mearl: Awww! ^^;;;;
Gerald: and now it's turning black
Gerald: and i guess none of the cleaning people have noticed it yet, cause it's still there!
Gerald: ^^;;;;
Mearl: Eventually something'll eat it, right? ^_^;
Gerald: ^^;;;
Gerald: eventually
Gerald: then it'll get disgusting
Gerald: right now it's just morbid

Wow...I haven't blogged in a couple days. ^^;; To everyone who has talked to me within the last oh...four days or so, forget everything I've said. Just forget it. ^^;; I have been in a really really pissy mood and anyone who has said anything to me probably got the harsh edge of my tongue more than once. I'm sorry, and I'll try to keep my temper from catching any of you, considering that none of you are the cause of the problem in the first place.
Exar, sounds like you had nuf in Alaska *hidst* Did you bring any polar bears home? *looks hopeful* XD
Mearl, Saionji wp's are GOOOOD ^__~
Well, it's the last two weeks of school, and soon I'm going to be a POC. That's just a really scary thought. I've been looking forward to this forever, but now that it's actually here, it's kind of nervewracking. What kind of cadet officer will I be, I wonder? I've had good leaders and horrible leaders, and hopefully I've learned what to do and what not to do from their leadership styles. I really want to be flight commander. I put that as my #1 choice for position, and hopefully I'll do good enough at camp so that they'll give it to me.
o.O The internet radio player window thingy disappeared but the radio is still playing. It's freaking me out. I'd better go restart. ^^;;
Oyasumi!

OK, so SnK has gotten the upper hand again, dammit. ^^;; I swear that fic is going to drive me insane one day...just like that boy up in the blog layout. XD I was going for a HUD target-lock kind of look, and I think it turned out pretty well. I Don't Wanna Cry is probably my second favorite Gundam X song (next to Human Touch). Too bad it's only a c/w and never appears in the series.
Jen, thank you for your message the other day. I think I've gotten over it, but it's good to know I'm not alone.
Err...nothing much going on. I'm going to get some lunch. QS, if you get online anytime soon, I have something for you ^_^

[ DUTY :: KINYOUBI 4.20.01 :: GOGO 10:35 ]
Listening to: Tenkuu no Escaflowne, Hikari no naka e
I just got home from Dining In, which the unit formal dinner that my ROTC detachment does once a semester. This semester it was a Dining In, which means that we can't invite non-military guests. Usually we do a Dining Out, which means that family and friends can be invited as well.
This being a Dining In, it was very different from the formal dinners that we usually have. At a Dining In, since there are only military personnel present, we can do things that ordinarily we wouldn't do with civilians around. We had the usual miltary in jokes, but the most different thing to me was the speaker. Mr. Ron Bliss is a former POW from the Vietnam War, and his speech tonight has to be one of the best speeches I have ever heard. And I've heard a lot.
He talked about duty. And character. And laying everything on the line for something that most people in this country that don't care about anymore. He talked about how the country has grown complacent because we've been at peace for too long and how that is both a good and bad thing. Then he addressed us, the future of the US Air Force. He talked about how we would be going into a profession where people might die, whether the job is done right or not. He talked about taking responsibility. He talked about compassion and caring for your people, because your people are all you really have, when it comes down to it. He spoke of striving for a goal that might never be grasped in a society of instant self-gratification. And I'll never forget what he said about life: "In the end, what's important is not how much money you made, or how many cars you drove, or how many houses you had. What's important is that you mattered."
I went to breakfast at a Denny's down the street the other day, and the cashier was having some problems with the register so she called the manager over. I was in uniform that morning because I had class right after breakfast and I didn't have time to go home and change. The manager came up to me and said, "I used to wear that uniform. I was in for twenty-five years, and never regretted a single day. Good luck to you."
Whether I serve four years or twelve or thirty, that's how I want to be when I look back on the profession I've chosen. I want to be able to say, "Yes, I served without a single day of regret, because I love my country and I love the Air Force, and I was proud to be an officer."
The United States Armed Forces Code of Conduct, Article 6:
I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and the United States of America.
