I don't know if any of you have read this before, but it's basically an in-depth critical analysis on Mikage. A lot of it didn't make sense for me because I have only seen two episodes of the Black Rose Arc, but it's fascinating just the same.

I think I'm entirely too addicted to photoshop for my own good.
I've had the idea for a Saionji/Touga background floating around in my head for a while and decided to make one today after coming home from school. Except I couldn't quite figure out what I wanted, since the net has a shortage of Sai/Touga images. After messing around in Photoshop for a grand total of two and a half hours I finally produced something decent. I think ^^;;
So I sent it to Laurel and she suggested I make a series of those same kind of backgrounds. I then opened Photoshop to do a Ruka/Juri one, except that one didn't come out quite how I planned, either. You'd think that someone like Ruka would get more than 1/3 of a shrine...but I guess not. Anyway, the shortage of Ruka images actually made me change the layout of the bg altogether. Here's all of the Utena bg's I've made this week, if you want to look:

I'm quite proud of this one, and QS really likes it *_* It's Mikage and Mamiya, with the flames of Nemuro Memorial Hall in the background. That episode was creepy. ^^;; Of course, I enjoyed it immensely and am now Mikage obsessed. Go figure ><

The Saionji/Touga one mentioned above. It was so frustrating because I didn't know what I wanted...I knew I wanted the scene of Saionji as the Rose Bride, but other than that I didn't know what to put. I think it turned out ok though.

Umm...interesting fact. Have you ever noticed that in the anime, Saionji and Touga hardly ever face each other except when they're fighting? Interesting, huh? They're always facing away from each other...symbolic? I think so ^^ Then again everything in Utena is symbolic, so...
Thank you to Jen and QS for attempting to explain Adolescence Mokushiroku to me ^^;; I still think that movie is a total acid trip.
Jen, I clicked on the link to your blog tonight and realized much to my chagrin that the reason it seemed like you hadn't blogged in about a week was that my browser had stored your blog in cache and I didn't think to click the refresh button. I feel rather silly. Anyway, the reason I didn't know about Mikage is that when QS loaned me Utena, she gave me episodes 1-8 and then 26-end. Therefore, I hadn't seen any of the Black Rose arc until your tapes, but I have seen Utena before. ^_^

Or maybe it was just the CHOICE of anime that I decided to watch tonight...man, if I could pick three words to describe Adolescence Mokushiroku, it would be "Utena on crack." And umm...Utena the TV series isn't all that mentally stable either. ^^;;;
I have three questions:
1. Does Touga exist?
2. Did Miki die?
3. Are Akio/Dios and/or Anthy dead?
And what the HELL did they do to Saionji? >< Geez. Talk about bad characterization.
The idea did occur to me at the very end of the movie that the whole thing was a giant allegory pertaining to adolescence...nah, it couldn't be. Must be my lack of sleep.

Also, Jen, I'm not sure about this but it seems that the last episode of the TV series is missing from the tape? I'm not sure if it's the last two or three eps or just the last one...I kind of fast forwarded past ep 36 to get to the movie.

Well, I ended up not running this morning at the PFT, since Captain Wegner announced at the last minute that it was a practice one. I'm saving up my energy for the QFR in a couple of weeks ^^;; I did manage to max the situps (90) and did better on the pushups. If I had run I would have definitely gotten well over a 350. Oh well.
I started another original story yesterday from an idea that started growing in my head during English and wouldn't go away. If the idea actually gets anywhere I might consider posting it somewhere. Maybe ^^;;
And now I must go iron my uniform and get ready to go to Japanese and learn kanji that I already know. Whee! What fun. ><
