Anita
Monday, January 26, 2004 05:50 a.m.
I guess I hadn't really mourned the way I needed to. I just watched a long memorial video of her and I guess it really only hit me now what was lost. I had forgotten how deeply beautiful, incredible and amazing Anita's voice was. And always was no matter *what* she sang. I honestly can not even think of a match for her. Not even legends like Theresa Teng, Paula Tsui or even Jenny Yun had a range like her's. This video has made me so nostalgic... one of the best moments had to be when she was swing dancing with Jackie Chan. ^_^ Afterwards she looked so startled and about ready to fall over. And all those unforgettable performances together with Leslie, Roman, Andy Hui and Grasshopper are just so priceless now.
And there were all these TV broadcasts she was in the weeks before she passed away. They were all so much like farewells. They just knew they were losing her.
I am super depressed now. I can hardly see. And I've missed any sleep tonight.

Happy New Year! (for those who celebrate the lunar new year)
Well, it's been a while. I actually had a lot of things to talk about, but whenever I get here, I just no longer feel like it. But I've just heard some news that I felt I had to make a post for, especially in keeping with the superfluous theme of all my other posts.
Bujingai (the PS2 game with a main character design based off Gackt) is scheduled to be released by BAM! Entertainment in the US this May.
... =O Right? I really didn't think that would happen myself. Many of you probably don't find this pleasant news, while some of you may be ecstatic over it. I've got mixed feelings myself. I still have the Japanese release (thank you again, mog!) new and sealed. I've yet to play it, least until I have the spare cash to chip the PS2. But the reviews I've seen for it aren't bad. In fact, they've got me pretty excited about the visual/audio/vocal work. And the vocal work is what really worries me, since one review had gone on about how emotional and well done it was. What if they don't include the Japanese voice track after they dub it? Then it'll be just... dubbed. >_< Sorry, I'm extremely critical about this and I haven't heard an English dub I've been happy with yet. What I really wish is that they'd put in an English subtitles option for the Japanese track. >.> For the seiyuu buffs, voices include Hirokazu Yamadera (Cowboy Bebop), Maya Sakamoto (Escaflowne), and of course, Gackt.
Oh and here's the real kicker. This hasn't been confirmed officially, but magicbox.com said there's to be an anime series made based off the game. Nooo way, huh? And here I thought having done some voice acting and op/ed themes would have been enough for Gackt. Silly me. x_X; He's got some huge vision and seems really determined to make himself omnipresent. Again, mixed feelings. It's gotten to be impossible for me to keep up with him. I've long given up on collecting all his magazine stuffs. And it's really just stressful. Especially seeing him become this huge icon. And all the squealing fangirls that come with it. And when you spot one, you know you can't help but think, "Hey, wasn't she that diehard N'Sync fan?" and then it's just "oh my lord" and from there you want to crawl into a hole. -_- But still, how can I feel anything, but glad? I mean, should I have been rooting for him to *fail*? Meh. With success comes these really crappy sacrifices. And it's so different now.
It just makes me feel melancholy. Maybe it's something like how parents feel when they love and raise their kids with these expectations of what they'll be when they grow up, but they end up doing and becoming something completely different (sometimes that something different being something you happen to be completely against). And long as they are happy, you want to be proud and happy for them, but that own personal disappointment will always be there.
Anyway, obligatory Gackt post done. But in keeping with news in entertainment, I'm sure those that know of her, have heard that Anita Mui passed away a few weeks ago from cancer at 40 years old. For those that aren't familiar, she was a very famous Hong Kong singer/actress, at her biggest during the 80s and early 90s. She happens to have been my absolute favorite singer/celebrity since back when I was old enough to play a radio up until early JHS. No, I don't just happen to be saying that about every HK singer that dies. And it's actually an unsettling pattern to have first Roman (who was my mom's fave), then Leslie, and now Anita pass away one after another like this, and so closely. Leslie and Anita were very close friends as well. I couldn't even help but speculate on who'd be next judging from the pattern and actually came up with a name. But to actually say it out loud would be even more terrible of me. I'm definitely sad, not shocked like I was with Leslie, but Anita's death was also pretty sudden. Up until her last week, she made it seem as though she were still up and productive. And yeah, I've broken out all of her old music. HKVP radio (Vintage pop! o_O) has been playing a lot of her songs lately so tune in there if interested.
Hmm, lots of other lil tidbits I might have shared in detail if I had bothered to post, but not much comes to mind now. December... I went to my first NBA game, Knicks(of course)/Wizards (a year too late to see MJ! >_<) and it was a lot of fun. I hope my next one will be with a team like the Lakers or Rockets. =P Though I've already missed my chances this season it seems.
At a friend's Christmas party, they had a life-size Legolas cut-out everyone had to take polaroids with. x_X I was made to pose as though I were grabbing his ass (platonically, of course). I have to say I felt pretty damn silly, especially since I haven't read the books or seen any of the movies. (gasp!)
Anime - Nothing lately, except Naruto. Spoiler Alert? I'd say so. Goddamn, I waited forever for eps 66+67. They kept being evil, delaying the Gaara/Sasuke match in the story as well as in broadcast! Dammit, I've had to sit through those dumb frog eps for so damn long. Haha, and I've got *so* much I could poke at and criticize about the recent eps, but I'm really not in the mood to get into a bad mood. The Gaara/Sasuke match was WAY to short for the amount of time we had to wait to see it. But what there was of it was pretty awesome. Those dark scenes of Gaara in his cocoa puff and Chidoriii~, omg >o<. <3 <3, dammit. Even if Sasuke's too cocky, he's still awesome. And Kakashi is so awesome. And Kakashi teaching Sasuke his trademark is just fricking awesome. Eat that, Naruto (dumb frogs). All that ep needed was an Itachi and it'd be complete. Sharingan-bearers kick all ass. Sasuke's hair is so much longer too. Geez, it was only a month o_O;. He looked like a hobo in ep 65, lol. And Gaara scares me a lot more now. Psycho baby talking to his dead kaasan inside his giant cocoa puff. Despite cutting it short, it's good that they interrupted the match. Honestly, I don't think Sasuke should be able to beat Gaara. They made too much of a big stinking deal about Gaara's dieselness. To have him defeat Gaara now would just be following the lame ass example of other anime stories. Naruto beating Neji was already more than enough. And Sakura just continues her sad plummet down my cool-chara-o-meter. Dude, she needs to get OVER the Uchiha boy. And be more fucking consistent. Ino's still good.
Games - (Seems these insubstantial topics are all I seem to talk about here) - I beat a gaaame! This is pretty fantastic if you've known me and games for the past few years. Start and never finish. But more often, just never start. I'm sorry, but all the recent games are just boring (or annoying) to me. My beating Suikoden gives evidence to support this. Yup, semi-old school Suikoden. Who the hell knew. I've had it sitting and collecting dust with my psx for years. Then while getting impatient waiting for my GBA SP to arrive, I decide to give it a go. And I couldn't stop playing! In fact, I'm *replaying* it now. o_o
It's not flashy at all, the story is not deep (potentially it could be, but not in-game), the gameplay is not fancy, and there are 108 charas with hardly any "fleshing out" during the entire game. Just enough information to tease you with an idea, but generally not enough details or emotions to classify it as "deep". Yet, I enjoyed it so much, even with all its weird plot loopholes, and felt happy and sad and even cried when a certain someone died (the reason why I'm replaying it ;P you'll know what I mean if you've played it). And I think it was because of all those things it "lacked" that I enjoyed it so much. It was finally more like playing a game again, rather than directing a movie (the opposite seems to be the case nowadays with RPGs). I just don't have to or look to "relate to the characters deeply and emotionally". I don't care. I deal with stuff like that in real life. It's not what I watch anime or play games for. I like it to be realistic sure, but without the drama/melodrama. I need it to be consistent and to make sense. I'm just looking to be entertained. Not for any "connection" with any character that would let me project myself into the position of the hero/heroine or whatever that happens to be in the over-dramatic situation that's so popular now. I'm not into that kind of fantasy or drama. I like it to have that 'distance', to be detached and 'out there'. Actions and story just have to be rational enough so I can accept it. So all 108 characters in Suikoden hardly being 'filled out' is all just wonderful to me. Left so I can figure it for myself, not that I ever bother to go that far unless I really like the character. Then, I'll be interested in more detail. And more significantly, leaving it out also means there's nothing to piss me off. Which is pretty important for me to enjoy anything. If the character is lacking in such detail, then I can't really say something isn't right with them even if they do something that might not have made sense otherwise. Inconsistency is something I can't stand in fiction. So as long as they don't preset expectations, then I can't be disappointed. o_O Also, what helped was that the story always kept focus on the overall goal/setting rather than the individual (again, something prevalent in games/anime now). And the story was about war and sacrifice. It wasn't idealistic and the characters, for once, made decisions based on logic, reason and what was best for reaching their goal, considering consequences, as one would expect in a war, rather than acting with naive morals/beliefs/ideals and risky personal emotions, and have it all somehow happily work out in the end anyway.
But that really just explains the tolerance factor of the game for me. I'm also playing Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga right now which fits the criteria above, but I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as I did Suikoden. With Suikoden I feel that itch to play, and to play for long, straight hours like some addiction. I last did that only for FF7. The gameplay and collecting of characters was just fun. Even if it was overall pretty simple. I guess it's that same part of me that enjoys games like Simcity. The game was so short though. And watching the ending was so sad and bittersweet. I'm preparing for Suikoden II, which has also been sitting here and collecting dust x_X;;. I'm a little apprehensive as you're always worried about being disappointed with sequels. I'm pretty confident I'll still like it, but also wondering how ironic it'd be to have one of those things I just listed in the previous paragraph used and thrown right in my face in the next story. XP
Oh, and there was actually no love interest for the main hero! Super, giant plus!! Especially since you're leading an army and trying to win a freaking war here. But out of 108 charas, there definitely could be though (Kasumi? =P), so again, that's just the charm of it.
Who do I like? Well only having their pictures and a few lines of dialogue to go by, Rubi, who looks cool and plays very well (used in the final battle); Clive, who looks cool and plays decently; and Kage, who's got to be the coolest looking chara in the whole game with a very kickass occupation/class to boot (but doesn't play so well =P). Pesmerga's pretty nifty too. All them dark and mysterious types XD. And all with very potentially interesting backgrounds! Another oddly interesting thing about the game. So much is setup with hints, even if not entirely significant, but still left a mystery. Which is also pretty realistic, with the preoccupation of war. You can't get to know *everyone*. I believe Clive's will be explained in II...
FFTactics is up next after it (finally!). I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy that.
Hmm, super long rambling post. It's all I'm good for really. Laters~

Annoyed. (what else is new?) My friend and I don't get why Iruka shows up in so much Naruto merchandise. Sure he's their (more Naruto's) former teacher, but other than the first two episodes the guy hardly plays any role in the story at all! And the handful of eps he does show up again in are like cameos. Whhhyy?? Which makes me not get why Kakashi x Iruka is so freaking popular. The first time I heard of the pairing I had to blink and "Huh?? How? From where the heck??" at how... unapparent(?) it was. I mean, I'm not surprised that the pairing could exist, most pairings do, but shocked that it was so *popular*. Geez, Iruka hardly shows up at all let alone the fact there hardly being *any* interaction or connection between the two. He's not even a jounin for crissakes. Ugh, it just makes me find him more annoying. Asuma x Kakashi makes more sense than that pairing. I'd even prefer seeing Gai x Kakashi! At least there's real *basis* for that.
We saw this Naruto pencil and it had Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi and Iruka on it but *no* Sakura. They replaced Sakura with Iruka?! That's just wrong and makes no sense, no matter whether I like Sakura or not. Iruka isn't a main character. And it was after seeing that that I was sure they had to be playing on the market. Well, the yaoi fan market. Since Kakashi is the only main adult character in the show they wanted to give the yaoi audience someone to pair him up with ::rolls eyes::. And I guess the other jounin aren't "pretty enough," though I don't find Iruka much better, he's just younger. And since they can't change the creator's original story (where Iruka is a damn minor role compared to other supporting charas), they just force him into all the commercial merchandise with the main charas. Hell, they even have an artprint with just Kakashi and Iruka! Lame. Hate it. Wasn't much impressed with Iruka to begin with and I certainly don't find him good enough a match for Kakashi, and to see it deliberately being forced, manipulated this way, makes me have even less tolerance for the pairing and dislike this character even more. I honestly found him kinda annoying and then later his motherly-ness naggy even before I discovered this hype (it was satisfying when Kakashi and the other jounin told him to butt out). He's pretty scrubby, and gives off a kinda girly, wimp-ish behavior I'm not too crazy about, despite the very unextraordinary male looks. He doesn't stand out from the other regular ninjas in the village (he really does just look like a random extra) and I don't think he was supposed to, judging from the minor role Kishimoto's given him. And now all this crap. From mildly bothersome to outright annoying. Bah. If I got to choose for there to be any obscure, less-likely pairing that should be popular it'd be Kakashi x Itachi. X) I'll keep dreaming. But maybe not for long? The anime hasn't gotten as far as Itachi yet, after all... yeah sure, LG. Fuk.
And my friend's search for a good Naruto poster, without Iruka pointlessly in it, continues... good luck to him!
Okay, no more complaining for this entry.
Errm, Thanksgiving... I slept all day. And had TG dinner on the Monday before x_X;;. But the night before TG I had gone to see the Beyond concert at Atlantic City. I'm not a fan nor have I really listened to their music, but it was pretty good! Much better fun than the usual concerts for HK popstars at AC. Those are boring and the audience is never into it. Bands always set a better atmosphere and mood. Mebbe the 4th-5th best AC concert I've been to. Didn't enjoy it nearly as much as my friends though. They were so obsessed, I gave them tips on how to track down and stalk them after the show. Even a friend who wasn't Chinese nor even listened to Chinese music had a good time, despite his cramped space. And I didn't even think the music was that great. Makes me sad again my fave bands are gone. :(
I finally got to see all of Prin's Deep Purple dj series! Well, up to Friends #18. Damn, the way she draws them is just so amazing. And the story! Agh, it's just so sweet and yet there's that angst and you have no idea what the hell is going to happen next (and I'm dying to know!). And I can never stop staring when she draws Rukawa's pouting face. That mouth is so perfect. And the kissing scenes. migod... so much feeling... I've just been itching to use that beautiful art in a site layout, but I hear she really dislikes that... How I wish she'd get her site back up soon so I can get the rest of the books! And for someone to post more translations. >_<
Nooo... I'm complaining again. Or whining? Same thing? Okay. Umm. Oh, seems my N64 is working again. How weird. Majora's Mask's setting is so different than OoT. o_O And kinda creepy. But the intro was so sad... well, sweet kinda sad. And nostalgic. Young Link is just too cute. It's a BIG plus that he never says a word XP. Why did they make that crappy Link in Windwaker? So not gonna play that... But damn, Castlevania LoI looks sexy, hehe. Especially that chara with that "cloak" of five swords I saw while watching my friend play. He just looked awesome. So many games, too little productivity to spare for it.
I've rambled more than I'd planned. Heh, it's like I feel obligated to say *something* in here once in a while.

Hah, that's right, the lost entry was a quiz... This quiz!
Which Naruto Character are You? quiz by orangeday.net
Wehehe, I got Sasuke last time. I think the last answer was what got me Hinata. And I think Lee was the other close one... Heh, Hinata's funny.
I want to cosplay Itachi...
Wednesday, November 5, 2003 03:06 a.m.
Eh. Looks like my last entry was lost. =/ Hrmmm... what did I say in that anyway? All I recall is mentioning how kickass Gaara's psycho baby smile looks after I watched this amv of him. And how I didn't know if I should read the manga.... and how awesome Itachi seems.... me a serious Uchiha junkie now. Seriously. Plus, Kakashi pwns. PWNS!! Oh and I was wishing how Sasuke was older. X)
The new OP is.... girly. But cute. It's fun seeing the baby-kid version of some of the charas. Neji and Gaara especially. Heartbreaking ;_;. But where the fuck is Sasuke??!?!? How can they NOT show baby Sasuke?! WTF! ::destroys things:: I'm overly upset because I had wondered and hoped for it and whined about it in the past. And now they actually make an OP theme around it and leave him out?? Cheated! Agh! And Naruto gets so many of his own frames. I don't even give a crap about him! Gimme Sasuke! T_T ... but really, Neji looks adorable. XP I'm so tempted to read the manga just to find out everyone's background. And I gotta "wow" at how Orochimaru looked the way he does even when he was a kid... o_O;
Cuteness usually moves me only when it's of things/charas you never get to see in such a way. That's actually what makes it cute for me. I don't like those charas who are *supposed* to be cute though. Actually can't stand em. But cute chibi Sasuke or Neji? ::melts::
I even got me the deluxe Sasuke plush. Big. And yes, I do like to hug it.
And Itachi... Itachi... just looks so incredible when rendered by these Japanese fanartists I've been checking out. Especially the stuff at Sasuke Web and resemble. Such skill! Goddamn, he just looks so beautiful.
Agh... I thought I was gonna talk about something significant when I logged in here. Uhhh.... whatever. The missing entry threw me off.
You know, it really sucks when you think you've found a good fanfic to read judging from the first few chapters and are actually enjoying it for once, but then as the chapters progress the characters start going from inconsistent to outright OOC, and then a character you really didn't like much starts getting a bigger role in this side thing that really doesn't have anything significant to do with the main plot, who then gets paired off himself (said pairing not even warned about) and eventually everyone's pretty much gay and paired up in some way or another (which gets really annoying sometimes), and then out pops an unnecessarily showy and dramatic original character (isn't that just icing on the cake?) and then *another* who's female this time complete with detailed descriptions down to what color nail polish they have on, and it's become so disappointing you just can't continue reading it any longer and have to stop mid-story before you combust from annoyance and disgust. And then you're just left feeling cheated you wasted so much time on it and pissed that any good mood you were in has completely evaporated. So... is it just me?
... hmm, what other nonsense to spew... err Kill Bill? (wehehe I never seem to talk about more personal events) Saw that a few weeks ago. I had wanted to see it just for that pretty snow scene I saw in the preview XD. Me likes snowy night time scenes in Japanese and Chinese gardens. Traditionally garbed, reserved individuals a plus! The movie in general though, kinda too over the top for me to like much. Not to mention how we couldn't help but bust out laughing every time someone's limb got cut off and blood would just spray out everywhere. Overall, it was good, I guess. It just bothered me how she took out all those freaking Yakuza and then took down O-ren right after. I mean, geez. Even fictional-Kenshin had to lead his mob onto a bridge... -_-
Anyhow, best part of the movie for me was the fight with the school girl. It was just... engaging. A friend gave me a copy of a previous movie she was in, Battle Royale (Japanese). Shit, that movie was Messed Up. It was wrong in sooo many ways. A 9th grade class forced onto an island for a game of death and survival. Last kid standing gets to leave. Surreal in that they still included all that typical teen drama and high school angst amidst all the killing. And the scariest part was by the end of the movie, I think there was actually some kind of moral/lesson we were supposed to have learned. My friend told me they actually released this movie in some theatres here a few years back. I'm shocked o_O. The film is damn disturbing even for the Village's artsy, small-scale cinemas. Oh wells. I hear a sequel's in the making.
I've been feeling the urge to watch the old Chinese martial arts dramas again. Those really long ones with dozens of chapters. Legend of the Condor Heroes. Nostalgic... Mebbe something funny like the Duke of Mount Deer =3. Or that old one with Chow Sing Chi (wth is his English name anyways x_X?). What was the name of that one? =/ Dammit. Need bootleg VCDs!
Bored. Broke my N64 =/. No more Zelda: Majora's Mask for LG. I'm so sad, playing N64. But I'm not gonna be picky, don't often actually feel like playing anything at all. Castlevania LoI... need PS2. Grr.
K, cyu next time.

Ahaha, I just saw at MagicBox that they posted a few pics too and I ended up capturing those same exact scenes. ^^; Oh well. Theirs are much better quality though.
The trailer is available on bittorrent... somewhere. Uh, go look yourself.
Advent Children
Wednesday, October 1, 2003 10:07 a.m.
I'm sure you've heard, right right? FF7 Movie next year. Setting takes place 2 years after the game. I was hooked up with the trailer vid and took some tasty screen caps to share. I haven't bothered to check if someone had already made them available to avoid wasting my own time, but it shouldn't be too common yet since the vid was only made available a day or two ago. These weren't made from an official "copy" of the trailer since it looks like the person who posted it had gone to the convention and recorded it while viewing. =P But hey, beggars can't be choosers, crappy pics are better than no pics:
More? Click Final Fantasy VII Advent Children screens
It looks *really* good. At least graphics and animation-wise.
But... I'm afraid it's that time again...
LG's First Gripe (already?): CLOUD'S CHIN!! Aarargh. Why does it LOOK like that? It's driving me crazy. He doesn't look like Cloud. Cloud's chin is pointy like Seph's. Why's it all round and dented in? He also now reminds me of... Tidus (whom I do not like for those who don't keep up with this piece of crap blog). I think there's a very good chance I'm gonna hate this Cloud. It's just sooo easy for me to hate the hero/main chara. Especially with all the peeves I've developed. And now that it's a movie, he's likely going to have a lot more personality filled in than he did in the game (which is why I enjoyed the game =P). If I do end up disliking him, at least it'll be easier seeing Tifa with him. Heh.
But then I'm sure everyone's worried they're gonna screw it up in some way or another. As excited as I am to see this movie, still gotta wish they could leave well enough alone. FF7 was the only FF I've truly enjoyed since... since... FF6 o_O;;. I would rather my memory of it be allowed to stay as great as it's been.
That leather-encased white-haired guy sure looks tasty though. I had assumed it was Sephiroth (I hear angels sing whenever I use this name), but watching the trailer a second time, it's likely not, but just someone closely related in some way to the one-winged angel (advent children?). I hope it is Seph, but we'll see I guess.
And not just in mood, but the settings and things look really dark and nifty ^_^. Not like all that brightly colored stuff seen in the latest FFs. I'm not a big fan of combinations of blue, yellow and red. I see anything in that and it's instant fail, credits roll. (I picked up on using those words over the weekend. You'll likely hear them a lot from me now XD... I suck at Halo, btw -_-)
Anyhow.
Why did they make him look so cute when he's threatening? I want to hug him... ;_; Too... adorable...
Aiy, waiting for ep 51 from a good fansubber. I like both Lee and Gaara o.O. The way Gaara looks kinda reminds me of an infant. Neji comes off a little too mean, but I hope to learn more about him. I like Temari's weapon/skill, and they could have made her techniques cooler. I hear Sakura's only going to get worse. Oh well, screw that, Ino is better anyways. I might stop watching once they re-focus the plot around Naruto though. XP The plan is to wait until they get back to Sasuke before picking it up again. I need incentives, man! Naruto himself is too boring.
Thursday, September 25, 2003 04:01 a.m.
Ew, what the hell happened to Sakura. I thought I was coming to like her okay. Hands curled to throat, "Sasuke-kun... Sasuke-kun..." every other second over every bat eyelash. ::smack:: ANNOYING.
Sakura ep 29: Don't be a coward!
Sakura ep 38: Please quit so you don't die!
What the hell? ::SMACK::
She's different now. Hate that constantly concerned shit. Maybe I'm just destined to hate every character by that name, haha.
Orochimaru... creepy... but Sasuke-centric. :)
Can't wait to see Neji, Gaara, Lee and even Hinata's matches. Lee and Gai are so funny. X3
Tuesday, September 23, 2003 11:05 a.m.
Sasuke talks too big (on top of too much). I like it better when he stays silent and ignores everyone. But oh well. Just a twelve year old boy twelve year old boy...
Naruto reminds me so much of Sakuragi with his fantasy scenarios and proclaimed rivalry with Sasuke. "Ore wa hero!" ROFL.
Rock Lee though, lolol! These new kids are great. XD
It's like a kids-version YYH-esque tourney.

Armed with many more Naruto eps (that was fast eh?). I find Sasuke talks out loud too much. Especially during fights. Meh. But he's just twelve, can't expect him to be a perfect ice boy I guess. And well, ultimately, he *is* a nice boy ::sigh::. Yet, still that... thing... ah so cool (what he reveals in ep 16. =3). Hehe, sad attempt at not typing the spoiler out. Which is silly since almost everyone who watches the series has already gotten way ahead of me. I love that slight slant in his eyes though... pretty ^_^.
Well, I was just too curious (also because I never learn apparently) and peeked in on what kinda fics were out there for Naruto. And surprise, surprise, plenty of Sasuke/Naruto. Figuuures. Guess I was somehow hoping there was a chance it just might be different (yeah, I'm stupid). But egh, I just hate that. RuHana, Sanzo/Goku, RanKen(anyone/Ken really), etc. Damn I just can't stand all those pairings. It's gotten to be physically sickening for me. And they just always happen to be, like, the most popular (which, I guess, is since they almost always involve the main chara =/). Feels like some kinda mindless mob mentality...
Well, one exception with me is Seifer/Squall, I suppose. Love that one. But that's probably because Seifer just rocks so much XP. Mainly from what's seen in the intro-spar. And their dynamic is different anyway.
But I guess it doesn't matter much, I'm not looking to get involved in that part of Naruto fandom. Still twelve year olds >_<. And Kakashi/Ikura is just stupid. The exact words of my mog pal when told of it:
mog pal: ohh -__- geez
mog pal: that's so dumb
Naruto...

I have now in my possession a big Kakashi plush and a small Sasuke plush :). I am watching Naruto. Can you believe it? I can't really. But shounen anime seems a bit easier to take these days. It's not bad, especially in the beginning where most series like to bore me to oblivion with filler (Konohamaru is so cute!). And it should come as no surprise that so far I favor Sasuke most (Hey, I just don't like them friendly). Though everyone I've spoken to about the series is freaking me out, remarking, unprompted, on how they know I'd love him now, but will hate him later. x_x;; Makes me anxious imagining what they'll morph him into to cause them to speculate on my would-be feelings. And as you may have gathered from my XTV entries I really hate having expectations in characters/characterizations disappointed in such a way. My friends, having each spoken to me individually even, had gotten me so worried over it I didn't think I could continuing watching the series with any enjoyment. Scary how these 'small' things could effect me so. But honestly, it gets to a point where a character or story thread is all I really care about and is all that's got me going on to each episode. If I lose that, I lose interest. Shallow? I can't feel any guilt over it, it's my time I'm spending and I'd rather spend it on something I'm sure I'll enjoy. But after some ambiguous reassurance(?) over the "change" that's supposed to occur with Sasuke's characterization, I think I'll stick with it and ride the series out for longer. Besides, I do like Kakashi, and there are still many characters I've yet to meet.
Naruto, of course, is completely lame to me. The typical character that just repels me in a big way. The sad past doesn't really play a factor with me if his surface personality isn't the kind I like. I did think it was amusing how he resembled a kid-Cid Highwind though. He just needs a lil stubble and a cigarette. But those marks on his face do enough to give him a "rugged" appearance.
Sakura is amusing in that she's two unlikable typical girl-character types rolled into one. On the inside she's that usual bossy, foul-tempered tomboy type while on the surface she strives to be the blushing, sincere, all-understanding nice girl. She was annoying at first, but not so much after they shoved that dumb love triangle crap onto the back-burner. (Sakuragi/Haruko/Rukawa anyone? ::gags::) I prefer my anime with 0 romance.
On a spoiler-ish topic (like for ep 4-5 or something), did anyone else think Naruto did *not* deserve to pass the survivial training exam? He ate the proffered food even while knowing that by doing so, Sakura and Sasuke would be disqualified for feeding him. He didn't put anything on the line, yet even after that lecture on teamwork and friendship from Kakashi, he still passes? What bullshit. -_- But I guess that's the typical advantage for the "lovable" main character/hero.
And anyone else notice the fan emblem on the back of Sasuke's shirt resembles a pokéball? Annoys the hell outta me. Why red and white of all colors? Beh. And I can't believe they're 12... !?
But that's enough of that. I'm still waiting to get more eps.
I need to get working on site stuff again. Damn, I'm sleeping so often lately. Everything bores me.
Oh, here's a link to a Bujingai promo video for those that might wanna see CG-Gackt in action.
