Heh...I know I said bye a couple of entries ago, but what the hey. I wanted to say to expect some changes in laceydotpitas soon as far as appearance goes, and also my online portfolio is still in the works. I want to make sure that's right before I tell the world about it. For those of you that saw the rough draft, the new one will be nothing like that :) Have a good weekend everyone!

10:05 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2001

Whoa! I have to agree with them, Leah's site is like a breath of fresh air...her content is really fun! I may be adding it to the daily list.

09:19 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2001

Well, I'm going to go ahead now and say g'bye for the weekend. Tomorrow I'm driving to Augusta for the wedding (on Saturday). Jaya and I are gonna put together the 220 wedding programs which I printed at Kinko's last night. It's crazy already! AAAHH! AAAAHHH AGAIN!!!!
Well, at least it's not me getting married :)

If anyone out there is trying to learn dreamweaver, might I recommend the visual quickstart guide. It makes everything very, very easy.

I can't wait til I have money so I can start investing.

03:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2001

I better get some crazy work done tonight, as I have managed to lay around practically all day. Hehe. Isn't that what rainy days are for?
Actually, I was reading a book for a class: Booker T. Washington's Up From Slavery. I find it amazing how America basically hung the black race out to dry after the civil war (after Lincoln and the Freedmens' Bureau). They had freedom from slavery, but that's about all they had. Interesting to see how far we have come, and how very far we still have to go as a racially diverse population.

Hehe, Baha'i Faith in stock photography.

01:46 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2001

Today is my last day of fasting. I managed to do it 18 out of the 19 days...woo! (the day I skipped I was driving for a long time and thought I should stay alert) It's been one of the most challenging fasts mentally and physically I've ever had (spiritually it's awesome as usual). I feel like I've accomplished something. Happy Naw Ruz tonight everyone!
Tomorrow I'm meant to take the day off from school and work, but I "kinda" did that today as I slept most of the morning and skipped my only class. Ha. Holy day a day early then :)

01:05 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2001

My friend Allan needs an "all your base" tshirt. Doesn't everyone though?

03:15 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2001

Ooh! What an angry day this looks like at laceydotpitas!

03:02 p.m., Monday, March 19, 2001

Well, the senseless slaughter of thousands of animals in the UK continues, and it seems to be all about politics (of course). Tony Blair wants to be re-elected, and according to this article, he is using foot and mouth disease as a way of showing Great Britain that he's doing something good. What I found interesting about the article was this statement:

Retired farmer Anthony Ogle, from Carlisle, said: "We should just let this run its course, animals don't die from foot-and-mouth.

"There would be a drop in meat and a drop in milk for a while but nothing compared to the cost that this is going to cost the country."

Song for the day: Fight the Power.

09:52 a.m., Monday, March 19, 2001

My bridesmaid's dress came in today, so I went in to try it on. It's the most beautiful dress I've ever owned...I'm so excited that I'll be wearing it at one of my best friend's weddings!
But really, the thought that my friend Tahirih is getting married is making me nervous. We (Jaya, Tahirih and I) used to goof off all the time (and I mean that)...and that was not so long ago! Before she met ramin, before she graduated, before she went to DC. Now she's getting married, and this is the next logical step for her. Maybe it's not her I'm afraid for after all.

12:59 a.m., Sunday, March 18, 2001

I just saw the movie Chocolat and can I just say what a great movie! I left the theater with a big ol smile on my face (and like Tiffany with a craving for some good chocolate). A beautiful story, not entirely original (very fairy tale-ish), but still left me with the impression that it will be pulling and oscar or two. Go see it.

01:45 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2001

Thanks so much Jessie for linking me! Your site is a lot of fun! :)

03:09 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2001

Bono has an incredible collection of sunglasses.

11:09 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2001

I guess I should say about that last post: what I like first about those tracks is their musicality. Really round songs. Lyrics tend to come second to me. However, Weezer I like exclusively for the lyrics (because it's hilarious), as well as the Pixies. Self is great because it's both. End of addendum.

10:38 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2001

I think my theme songs for the semester are Dido: Don't Think of Me; Weezer: Pink Triangle; Guster: Either Way; Fisher: I will love you; The Pixies: Gigantic; some Sasha stuff (but oh my, the website is hideous); and yes there's more! I've been listening to Self's new bsides album, Selfafornia, and it's rad. Michael has the first track sampled on his splash now. Anywho, just so you know, if I were to pick a cd off the shelf that said "Spring 2001" that is what it would have on it.

10:22 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2001

I am totally going to see Spy Kids. Think what you will!

02:43 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2001

The new Self site is so fun! And it's Mac friendly...woo!

01:50 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2001

Beware the Ides of March.

12:46 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2001

Okay, so I've been working on my portfolio site for a few weeks now, and it's just not making me excited. It never was. Not many things are right now. I think the idea that this thing is gonna be up for the world and future employers (mainly) to see is buggin me out. I'm forgetting what gets me excited about art and design...I just gotta forget all the hype around jobhunting and expectations and crap like that...right? If anyone has any real fresh stuff they would like to show me, please do...whether it be a link or just a screen shot of your work or something. It would be cool to have a design brainstorming sesssion, where a bunch of designers all get together and just lay it all out. I want to see what inspires other people...no finished designs, no computer stuff...just drawings and writing and paper everywhere (well..you get the idea). That would be awesome.

10:53 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2001

Hungry. I'm looking at clipart of food. Yikes.

04:20 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2001

I got "my" new office today. I share it with the tech guy, and basically my desk is sandwiched between a towering shelf full of quark boxes and John's (tech guy) desk. Oh, and the wall. Heh. But it's an office! It's not in the computer lab anymore! AAH PRIVACY! I'm thrilled.

02:15 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2001

Aah! I can't decide!

01:40 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2001

I'm listening to my new mp3 cd full of Caesar's Glass Box stuff. Awesome. They were so good! I don't know whether it is a good thing or not though, that it seriously reminds me of being in high school. :) I went to aboouuut 400 CGB shows. Well...adolesence left behind, they are/were a really good band. (thanks michael!).

11:50 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2001

The past week: Lightning 100, the word "defenestration," and my family. And I'm gonna leave that an incomplete sentence! WooHAAAAA!

02:40 a.m., Sunday, March 11, 2001

My long entry which I thought had been lost has resurfaced. So I deleted the one that was repeating it :)

10:55 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2001

As much as my laziness tells me "not" to log, I will anyways, because it's a shame to have a post from days ago as my most recent one :)
I'm here at my parents house on spring break. I had a blast in Knoxville with Liz, Allan, Amanda and George, and now I'm back in Franklin, TN. I saw MRM last night and it was so nice. I wish I had had the cam with me as it was very cool to chill with her for hours..in my mind I see us sitting at that window table surrounded by icicle lights of the coffeeshop, talking about journals and sketchbooks, pulling out our writing and drawings and having penmarks speak more for time lost than our words almost. Very cool night.
On a different note, I spent most of today driving around nashville trying to get the tags on my car renewed, as I just looked at them yesterday and noticed they expired last month (doh!). So as it turns out, my grandfather renewed the tag, thinking that it was his car he was renewing and not mine (easy mistake, both white fords), and he now has my sticker on his licence plate. So I had to get the emission thing done, then go to the county commissioners twice and wait in line for them to tell me to wait some more for them to yap on the phone to somewhere else. Good grief. NOthing in the government makes sense.
Tomorrow I'll be seeing other internet folks, and the day after that as well. I feel like I'm making appointments to have fun :) Hehe.

01:32 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2001

sixfoot6 is so entertaining. I can't wait to go back to school (ha) to download the mp3 My Name Is (Ivelnikov)".

06:18 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2001

OOh, I have to agree with Maura that Fly is very nice. Very pleasing to look at, and such a lovely feeling it gives you :)

06:07 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2001

Hello from Knoxville, everyone. Yesterday I drove here from Athens to surprise my friend Liz (thus me not being able to write about it on here) and see some other folks (digital photos when I get back). Wednesday I'll be heading out to the Nashville area to see the fam and some friends again and then back next Sunday. I'm enjoying sleep. The fast takes a lot out of you, so when the sun goes down I find myself almost as much tired as I am hungry :) Anywho, here I am, there you are, here this is...I think I'm delirious...

05:37 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2001

I was trying to log last night but my connection was horrible and I couldn't do anything. But I am now out of town on spring break. :)

07:15 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2001

I watched Xmen tonight on DVD. It was really good..I was surprised. I want superpowers! And Wolverine..drool..

12:46 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2001

Oo oo oooooo! Last class before spring break!

01:49 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2001

Twelve hours yestderday in the wind tunnel. Ugh.

Some of you know a little about the Baha'i Faith of which I am a member, so some of you know that we fast during daylight hours for 19 days out of the year. Well, today started this practice. So I'll be getting up before dawn for the next 19 days, coherent or not, and will eat and read and do other spiritual preparation stuff. I know it really *sounds* crazy to not eat or drink for 12 hours, but it is such a cleansing time mentally and spiritually that I wish it were longer than it really is. And it's really not that bad (unless you decide to play a basketball game or two while the sun is up). So good luck on the fast if you're fasting, and if you're not, enjoy your food :)

06:56 a.m., Friday, March 2, 2001

My mom will be happy I redesigned ;)

01:56 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2001

I work in the G4 lab here in the graphic design building, and for some reason in here it feels like a freakin wind tunnel whenever the air comes on. At all other times it's the equivalent of an unventilated sauna, with arctic blasts every 20 minutes. Quite annoying.
I had a huge midterm critique yesterday (all the portfolio students did). It lasted about 3.5 hours. It was long and horrible, and we all felt exhausted at the end. (perhaps it wasn't in my best judgement to have gone to the Weezer concert the night before this doomsday activity, but it's been planned since last semester) I drove home from this awful crit feeling mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted...it was basically 4 hours of our professors offering input on a project that will show our worth as students and future designers...something that took hours and days of intensive work and research...about 3/4 was brought crashing down in a matter of minutes. It was horrible. I honestly felt like I had a screw loose afterwards. It was only after closing myself up in my room listening to sarah mac. that I started to feel normal again. I am really, really glad spring break is next week.

11:03 a.m., Thursday, March 1, 2001

Yarg.

Weezer put on a great show last night..almost enough to balance out the two (not my taste) opening bands and the long interims. The crowd was extremely young. It really reminded me of getting to go see shows like Fluid Ounces and The Features in Nashville when I was in high school...only this time I'm out of the loop and don't know the band as well.

I think I'll write later because I'm on 5 hours of sleep right now and have a HUGE crit this afternoon and I can't think. aso;difal;d,ml;dfkgja'a?

05:57 a.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2001

Welp, I'm off to see weezer!

05:11 p.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2001

Oh lookie! Rachel is back. She's got that 50s action goin on. Very nice!

11:49 a.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2001

I meant to write yesterday about how awesome my birthday was. First, my parents, brother, and grandfather all came to see me. No one has seen my apartment but my dad, so it was cool to get to impress them with my hostessing skillz :) I miss them all alot, so it was good to see them for the all-too-brief period of time they were here. I took my brother Gavin and his friend Brian downtown Athens that night, so Gav could get his ears peirced (mom and dad approved of course). We went to this tattoo piercing place, and got that taken care of (very interesting...no "piercing gun" involved, only a really long needle and a pair of tongs). My parents left about midday Sunday...I wish they could have stayed longer. But to my surprise I got a bunch of books from my wishlist from amazon.com...purchased elsewhere so i wouldn't know what I was getting :)

That night I had some friends over to my place to eat sushi I bought earlier in the afternoon. We watched Simpsons and Malcolm and Xfiles...it was so fun. My friend David (nicknamed "spoon") gave me the Dr. Seuss Happy Birthday to You! book with a beautiful note on the inside. Sania gave me chopsticks! All in all, I really couldn't have asked for a better day. It will be hard to top it next year.

06:32 a.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2001

I just read an article at BBC about a bunch of livestock getting foot and mouth disease. It turns out, all these animals are being slaughtered and cremated because the disease is so contagious, but according to this article (and the one linked above) the disease is just like a lot of other viral infections: it runs its course. Wouldn't it be more effective to let the disease run its course, go without meat for a little while in the UK (heaven forbid someone become vegetarian for a couple of weeks), and then develop a vaccine from animals that have been cured? Or should they just continue the mass slaughter of animals that really deserved a nice life of becoming fat so other people can slurp them down in the end anyways?

This all just seems to ridicuous to me...the UK has so many problems with it's meat. (can they just go WITHOUT until they get a good solution?! or is it better for people to get sick just so they get their 40 servings a day of meat.) First it was mad cow disease, now this. Their only solution is to kill these animals?! Hey, let's take all the people with HIV and kill them, because they're eventually gonna die anyway, right? Well hey, we're all gonna die too, so why don't we just get it over with right now?! Cows, pigs, fowl, deer, etc are LIVING CREATURES with physicality like humans...we all have hearts and blood and brains and survival instincts. Just because humans have REASON doesn't mean that animals should be expendible. Stop this craziness!

09:26 a.m., Monday, February 26, 2001

All I gotta say is: FLASH.

07:35 a.m., Monday, February 26, 2001

Here, have an mp3! This might be too spacy for some folks, but I like it..and it's my birthday, so I'm gonna post it. (nyeh!)

02:06 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2001

Well here I am still..and a year older to boot. Good grief. You know, never before have I actually "felt" different on my birthday, but this year I am 22. I'm actually an adult now. I literally sat up in bed last night and said "wow...22!" Thank you so much to all of you who sent emails and gave web shoutouts and thought about me today...it is greatly appreciated :)

01:01 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2001

Yeah, what was Apple thinking? What a horrible joke on the design world.

09:55 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2001

Go check out some of the digital photos I took on my way to Augusta last weekend. They're not all that great because I was driving when I took them :)

01:28 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2001

I spent a long time looking through this photo essay of this guy's journey across the Balkans. Very real stuff...very beautiful and disturbing photographs. Take a look.

11:33 a.m., Thursday, February 22, 2001

You know what I think is neat? The way Bryan just galavants around New York City with his digital camera taking pictures of whatever he thinks is interesting. If you haven't seen his photo blog yet, go check it out. It just gets better and better.

06:10 a.m., Thursday, February 22, 2001

Moral for today: perform to your capacity.

09:07 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2001

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! I AM NEARLY BEREFT OF IDEAS..i'm going to go insane.

07:58 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2001

This site gave me a good laugh. If you get wierd search query hits from search engines, you'll appreciate this.

08:43 a.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2001

Much love to Australia...Jasmine left on Sunday to return to her classes at ANU. She won't be returning for another year and a half or something, and I know that we will miss her greatly...and I'm not just talkin about love either...her large physical element will be a relief to get rid of...I mean uh--missed (no offense to those who think that's distateful..it's a running thing). The best way to miss Jasmine is to throw an insult her way every now and then...but for real though, we'll miss you Jasmine. :) I hope you had a safe trip.

08:15 a.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2001

I am listening to my Smashing Pumpkins Pisces Iscariot cd right now, to the song "hello kitty kat." I think it's one of my favorite songs ever..it reminds me of my friend Allan. Reminds me of the good ol days...aaahh...

I'll be turning 22 on Sunday. I think getting older has made me regress psychologically. :)

08:10 a.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2001

My friend Jaya and I had so much fun this weekend!

09:22 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2001

I'm gonna go to an AIGA event on Thursday in Atlanta. I'm so excited! This is such a cool thing...getting to meet other designers in Atlanta and other students...it's gonna be great.

08:23 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2001

Join the envelope club!

06:13 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2001

Michael reminded me: I saw Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon on Sunday. It was just as amazing as I thought it would be. It really makes me wish there were more movies like it.

On a side note, I drove in some of the worst weather ever tonight. I never have to pull off the side of the road, but this time I had to. It was horrible. Now I am hiding at Sania's. :)

12:53 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2040

I'm starting to feel like Jack! I bought two cds today out of the 99cent bin at the local record place: Self awareness and a Dreamworks sampler. The dreamworks cd has a few folks I've heard of, so it will be nice to hear them at a discount :)

02:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2001

Uh oh...I think MRM's in love! She will tell the internet before she tells the ya yas. I don't know anyone else that would do that. :)

06:32 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2001

This is nuts! It's meant to be 74 degrees today, and tomorrow about the same. Which means in south georgia, it will be in the 80s. February! It's FEBRUARY!

11:07 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2001

OH Valentine's day...I called my grandpa today and he said he would be my valentine :) Hee hee...

But in all actuality, I am a very happy single person. I don't miss relationships I don't have, and I enjoy seeing others in love (despite my wedding rants..but those are mostly about money anyways). So happy v-day everyone...those in love, those out of love, and those who just enjoy the scenery.

10:16 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2001

Jasmine and I were giggly on the phone tonight. I said, "What's IN this sparkling apple cider anyways?" and she said, "Sparkles!" Hee hee.

I'm also starting to realize something very useful, yet seemingly impossible, to college students: the nap. Oh yeah, a 20 minute nap can change your day! Especially with those wasted hours of sitting around in critique, or lectures, or reading stuff you don't care about..bla bla bla. A nap can really improve your productivity. It's wonderful! I am the nap salesperson! Try it risk free for 30 days!

10:12 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2001

Aaah! Nooo! If you are looking for something like this or (especially) this you are in the wrong place. Good grief.

07:22 a.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2001

If you are using Netscape 6 don't look at my website. There is something seriously wrong with that browser.

04:08 p.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2001

I haven't had too much to say lately. I'm so busy. Today I had a mock interview which required me to dress up. I looked like a real adult...so strange... My intentions were not, however, to look like a business major. So I busted out the pea green cashmere suit coat. Woohoo! Hahaha..

03:59 p.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2001

LSAT over. Me have life now.
Ha!
Sania, my most beautiful, excellent friend has a weblog now! I think I might go back to Athens early to play with her :)
Back to the LSAT, it was hard, and long, but it's over now, and I'm happy. I think I scored better on it than I did on the practice tests, but who knows with this stuff. I don't know that I'm really going to go into law, but at least I won't wonder "what if.."
It's a beatiful day in Midtown so Cheryl and I are gonna go to Little 5. See ya!

03:06 p.m., Saturday, February 10, 2001

Hello from Atlanta! I'm staying in my friend Cheryl's hip apartment in midtown...it's a converted wine cellar...it is one of the coolest places I've ever stayed.
Tomorrow morning I'm taking the LSAT. I'm feeling a little more comfortable now. I know where the test will be administered, I know how to get there, now all I have to do is wake up and go there. I'm just going to take the test and that will be that...no more LSAT. I don't ever have to think about it again.

Thank God.

Tomorrow night I'm going to the Atlanta Baha'i Coffeehouse downtown which should be a blast as always (I might even be co-emcee-ing). Then Sunday off to Lenox to scope bridal shoppes to look for bridesmaid stuff. Jaya and I are gonna be participating in Tahirih's wedding...we're both excited...So a litte shopping, a little visiting should outweigh the silly stress of the lsat. I can't wait until it's over.

10:54 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2001

Hm, I wonder what Lacey's workin on...

I did away with the screen shot section because I couldn't seem to update it, but I'll keep putting them up every now and again.

07:54 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2001

I have come to the conclusion that I am hopelessly cheesy. I think I probably always have been :)

11:26 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2001

Blondie is so nice! She'll be in Athens so see Weezer at the end of the month, so maybe I'll finally get to meet her. :)
I also was able to talk with Frankie today, and he's pretty cool. Go bust out on his site. I'm going to do some final studying for the LSAT now. I'm heading out to Atlanta tomorrow midday (I take the test saturday morning), so I dont' know if I'll log again before then. But if you're up Saturday morning around say, 8am eastern PLEASE pray for me. Ha. Sleep well, my friends...see you on the flipside.

07:45 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2001

Shew, finally got that mess archived :)

07:42 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2001
