My prayers are constantly with the families and victims of yesterday in NYC. I can't express my relief that my friends are okay...be safe you guys. Other than that, I'm speechless. 08:55 a.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2001, comment I turned on CNN this morning just in time to catch the 2nd plane hit one of the towers. Then later at work, I watched them fall. I am watching the Pentagon burn. I don't know what to think right now. Please don't hit Chicago? All of those people... 10:04 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2001, comment One wonderful thing about having your own website is that you can say whatever you want. Another wonderful thing is that you, reader, have the choice to read it or not. That's all. 05:03 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2001, comment Today is a Hole kinda day. Tomorrow will be a Ben Folds kinda day. I can tell that already. :) 02:08 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2001, comment Okay people, I would just like to say that MELON is the most vile fruit ever. Any kind of melon. I don't care..the stuff is yucky! It's true! Don't argue with me! It taints all other things that touch it...it emits an aroma that seems to liiinnngggerrrr...agh! Gross! Stop buying your canteloupes and watermelons...and you feed them to children! Watermelon! Blech! And when you make melon-flavored gum, and candy, and drinks...you SPREAD THE GROSSNESS. That stuff does not taste good! Who thought that would be a good marketing scheme? I know I'm the 1/1 billion people that hates melon. I'm sorry. I just hate how when people make fruit salad, they put melon in there, and it just gets all over all the other fruits and makes it inedible. Stoppit! 12:45 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2001, commentCollab is now liiiiivvveeee...again. Go see it. We have many people logging now, too. I logged this there this morning as the funniest thing I'd ever seen. It still is. 08:39 a.m., Monday, September 10, 2001, comment Hey Everybody! Go sign up to win Ben Folds tickets and then give them to me. Sounds good, eh? 05:26 p.m., Sunday, September 9, 2001, comment Beth! I'm lovin the new layout...so colorful! Makes me happy :) 11:47 a.m., Friday, September 7, 2001, comment Lame. 09:06 a.m., Friday, September 7, 2001, comment God bless Sephora. I'm always a little torn between it and The Body Shop, but then I realized that they are really 2 entirely different places, right? And if you haven't tried the Rice Bran Scrub (it costs $14 for a tub of it, but it is worth every cent) you really should go get you some. Just trust me. And guys, don't think this leaves you out! This stuff is great!..... Okay, enough girliness...sorry about that... 08:52 a.m., Friday, September 7, 2001, commentThe office is all abuzz! Mr. Ian Semple, Universal House of Justice member, is here in Chicago to talk at the House of Worship! Whee! The UHJ is the governing body for the Baha'is worldwide...and there are only 9 members, so it's pretty special that he comes here. I'm so excited! And I wanted to say something about working for a nonprofit organization: there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, quite as satisfying as working for something you believe in. Sure, you're not making the money you could be working for the man, but you have a deep sense of satisfaction. You don't hate yourself at the end of the day because the beaurocracy that runs most of corporate america is choking you...you feel GOOD. That's worth more than any dollar amount, if you ask me. 01:15 p.m., Thursday, September 6, 2001, commentOPEN CALL: Does anybody know anything about Pagemaker and importing clipping paths? Please email me and we'll chat. 05:05 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2001, comment Heeeeeeyyyy, Winn's back! And so is Collab! Yay! 04:46 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2001, comment It's a Pixies kinda day here. I can't stop listening to Doolittle. Yeep! 01:20 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2001, comment Song for the morning: Symphony in C, by Cake of course. I'm feeling much more energized today. I ate too many carbohydrates at lunch yesterday. Ugh. But TODAY, my friends, TODAY is the day to get all work done! It will happen! I have already come up with a new desktop and a possible log layout, and it's only 9am! I was awake at 3:45 this morning (yes, I slept first..kinda) to pick my coworker Jesse up from the airport. Now I am caffeinated and ready to roll. Whee! 09:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2001, commentOH my gosh I have so much to get done this week. I'm frightened at my lack of energy. Yeep! 04:59 p.m., Monday, September 3, 2001, comment I feel bereft of all energy. Labor Day. Chicago. Everyone was out on the lakeside park trails on their rollerblades and bikes, kids in strollers, parents heading towards Navy Pier. Beaches are packed, and flocks of birds swoop down in patterns over the crowds. My friend and I are driving to the amtrack station to pick up her things. We looked out on the lake and there were hundreds and hundreds of sailboats. It's a beautiful day. I realized that in the 2 weeks that I've been here, today was the first time I ventured into the actual city. I work in the suburbs, so I don't get many opportunities to go. I desperately want to go to the Art Institute (where I just found an old friend) and to hang out at all the arty joints. I want to go do touristy stuff now. 04:42 p.m., Monday, September 3, 2001, commentDarn this city! All there is to do is spend money...eating the myriad of food, then shopping in the plethora of spectacular shopping malls. Darn Bloomingdales! Darn Israeli food! Darn it all! 08:07 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2001, comment Am I back here at work again? Am I still in this same chair? Did I ever leave?!? I know everyone and their mama's logging it, but go see Michael's new version of yewknee, utilizing my favorite piece of html: the iframe. If you're on Netscape (aka JERRY) you won't get the full experience...or really, you won't get to read any of the content at all. But forget you Netscape users! Forget you all! Muahah! Nice job, Michael. I'm all over those western fonts as well. 08:55 a.m., Friday, August 31, 2001, commentI've never even talked with Fred or his wife Sophie, but I gotta say congrats to them on having THE CUTEST BABY EVER! And a very tasefully-put-together site to boot! Go take a look at their cute cute beauuutiful baby girl :) 11:06 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2001, comment For part of my job, I am a "marketing consultant," providing strategic advice to the Baha'i National Center on Baha'i Youth. Pretty cool, eh? Well anyways, I was just cruising bahaiyouth.com (which I will also be helping to moderate soon) this morning, and in one of the discussions I found a link to Join the Ranks, a Baha'i hiphop group. If you like hiphop, and are sick of all the thong-laden, drug-hazed, bling-bling of rap music these days, go check these guys out. (They even did one of their songs with Nelly Furtado!)Their lyrics are meaningful and real, and best of all, you can listen to the whole album for free at mp3.com. I am really liking this stuff. 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2001, comment Oo, I just listened to the new Incubus song "Wish You Were Here" on their new site. I really enjoy Make Yourself...it's usually in my rotation. But until the new album is released in October, go listen to the new song. 09:53 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2001, comment Woohoo! I've been approved for my new supercute studio apartment! Can't wait to move out of the hotel. Heh. 04:49 p.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2001, commentYou know, one thing I miss about a macintosh is the ability to color-code files. Every folder I create on a pc is just this creamy yellow color. Is there some kind of thing you can download that can color-label folders on a PC? Someone let me know if there is such a thing out there. 09:36 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2001, comment I feel like my body is folded up in the shape of my chair. Ungh again. 09:01 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2001, comment Ungh. Tired. Yesterday I helped my friend move into her new apartment, conveniently located in the same building as my future new apartment (if I get it...I'm waiting to hear still)! There will be 2 other Baha'i females in that same block. That means no scary commutes alone, stuff to do at night, and yeah, you know it, FRIENDS. The apartment is in a primarily hispanic neighborhood, and you KNOW there is some good food there. I'll be speakin some spanish before you know it. It's such a cute cute part of town. I'm going to be sorely disappointed if I don't get this apartment. 08:41 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, 2001, commentToday sparked a new feeling in me: Fall. The light is different...it feels like the leaves are gonna change any day. This all made me really want to listen to my Amiee Mann Magnolia sountrack and Ani's Up up up up album. And yes, I was right...it's perfect fall music. It's funny how you categorize music with seasons. 12:23 p.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2001, comment Jeez, I've been so busy at work I didn't even notice it's already time to go. Tonight I'm going to take one last look at the apartment before I put in the application. I'm so excited!!! 05:11 p.m., Monday, August 27, 2001, comment Much thanks to Ryan for helping me out with my MacOpener problem. I think he's reading my site again now that it's not orange ;) AAAANNNNDDDD the good news is I think I found an apartment! I'll find out by today what's gonna happen. I spent a lot of yesterday at a little beach-park by lake Michigan (it was a beeauuutiful day) calling my friends and family and saying "Gues where I am?!" Muhahah. 09:07 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2001, commentGood luck in college Jaemie! It's funny, you think that after college you can move into something larger than your dorm room. But it's not true, you get what they call a studio apartment. Yay. 11:03 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2001, comment All archived now. That page was gettin way too long. And I know, it's a half-redesign, but I couldn't look at orange any longer. But the good news is, lay-c.com is being worked on. The only thing that's holding me up is finding some software which will let me open my mac files on my work PC. I want MacOpener, it's a great program, I used to use it when I worked at DI. But other than that, it's lookin like it might get launched soon. I bought a new phone today, with plan from Sprint. I gotta say, Best Buy totally hooked me up on this one. I got a hundred dollar rebate on the phone, and then a $50 giftcard. This is all mail-in rebate stuff, but still! Amazing! I also looked at apartments today. The first places I looked at, and I think that I have some definite options. I love the studios I saw. They were in vintage buildings that were being refurbished, on tree-lined neighborhood streets...oh so quaint. I want a project-apartment, too, that I can paint and make my own. Tee hee hee! I am looking at more tomorrow, so we'll see. I might have an apartment by next weekend, who knows?! 08:50 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2001, comment
