Back. More later. Just wanted to let you know I'm still alive and terribly behind on everyone's website. Still waiting on a job, and though I just vacationed my stomach is still punishing me. Like I said, more later. 10:34 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2001 Alrighty folks...I'm off to South Carolina for the weekend for some quality beach time. See you on Monday! Yahoo I survived this week!!! 11:10 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2001 Here it is, 8:45am on the 4th of July. I should be alseep right now, perhaps enjoying a nice 14 or so hours of peace, but instead here I am at school, about to take a final. Yes, on the 4th of July. We had the option to take it a day early, and I decided to do this because I have other stuff to do tomorrow. Ugh. Need sleep. 07:45 a.m., Wednesday, July 4, 2001 You know, I really like this Incubus album, but the lyrics are kindof...out of place. I thought at first they sounded a bit juvenille, but then I was reading them in the album book and they weren't all that bad. It would be interesting to see them move in more of a hiphop direction...it's easy to see that they are influenced by a lot of electronica/hiphop stuff. But I think it would be cool to see them do some flat out spoken word stuff. But I'm a graphic designer, what do I know about music, right? I feel obliged to offer critique on everything. Oh well, what are the chances they'll read this anyways? (ha) 06:36 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2001 I love "fruit on the bottom" yogurt. I know a few people though who can't stand it though. I think that fat-free yogurt should be obliterated from the universe though, as it is the most vile substance I have ever seen next to "cheese product" and that green smoothie stuff (not together...but together would be hideous). Random thoughts over yogurt. Oh yeah, I should find out this week if I will be employed in a month or if I should continue my job search. Keep yo' fingers crossed for me please.. :) 09:53 a.m., Monday, July 2, 2001My brother visited me this weekend. With all the work I had to do, I felt bad that I couldn't entertain him more, but we still had fun. I had a potulck on Friday night, and afterwards a few of us watched Lock, Stock, and 2 Smoking Barrels (which was awesome). Yesterday we went to a party at my friend Spoon's house...and then he left this morning. Not enough time!!!! I want my brother back! Wah! Forgive the lack of updates to l.p though and the non-presence of me on aim...I've got a CRAPload of work to do. And then I'm going to the beach this Friday. Wheee! Work first, play later. 01:07 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2001I was talking with my friend Jerry about his trip to NYC this weekend. He's going to show his awesome portfolio to some friends of his in the business...and I was TOTALLY shocked and awed when he said "Yeah, I'm going to show it to a couple of friends that do a website called volume one. You know it?" WHA??!?!?!!! Turns out he used to hang out with them before he knew they did web stuff. Good grief! I told Jerry to give them my regards (aka worship). The six degrees of the internet never seem to amaze me. 09:21 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2001 It's death by UV rays here in Georgia today...I think I'm gonna break out the SPF45 and go read by the pool. Hey, it's for school! It really is! 01:08 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2001 I've decided: when I move, aside from a few pieces of furniture and some paintings, I'm gonna start over. I'm gonna go nuts with some Martha Stewart stuff from ye olde Kmart!!! And I can order it all online so I'm not easily swayed at the store! Laugh all you want, that woman is brilliant. 10:33 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2001 If you're thinking about the new iBook like I am, this article is very helpful. It compares the iBook with a Dell laptop, and is very thorough. Even though Dell won in many of the categories, since I am looking for media applications more than anything, I still think the mac is the best. I may wait though so I can get the internal CDRW option that burns mp3s, and also the 100mhz bus would be nice. OH yeah, I'm selling my PC for parts (or the whole thing reformatted, whatever) before I move, so if anyone needs an internal pc zip drive or dvd rom, lemme know. 09:55 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2001 Alright: don't drop dead when I say yesterday that I BOUGHT a cd...not "received it in the mail" or "burned" a new cd...I actually handed over $15 for a new cd. Amazing! But I had to....I was memorizing Creeper Lagoon and decided that was pitiful, so I went and bought Incubus "make yourself" cd. I listened to it on repeat 3 times last night...it's very, very good. So if you don't have it, take the advice of someone who purchases a cd every 6 months and go get it :) 09:52 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2001 Just put up a gallery of some of the shots from my Chicago trip. I have tons and tons of photos, but this is all I had time to do right now. Enjoy! :) 03:16 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2001 Recently acquired from Harry's Market in Atlanta: carob covered raisins and california mix. OH-MY-GOSH, that stuff is so good. I'm wierd, all I want to do is eat trail mix and raisins these days...and any variation thereof. Carob covered raisins are the flavor of the week. Mmm! My indulgence over my little jaunt up north was Thai food....lots of peanut sauce. I think I could eat peanut sauce every day I'm alive and be very happy. That stuff's good. Mm....Thai food.... 10:21 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2001 It's all about the Stephanies! My friend Stephanie from UGA is in Japan now doing study abroad (her log is gooood too) and my other friend Stephanie is getting married! Whoa! I meant to mention that ages ago but forgot. So congrats Steph on the ring--er--the engagement! :) Hahahahaha...oh man.... 10:02 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2001 The problem on alexmurawski.com is all fixed now. I failed to recognize this little warning box saying there was an error in uploading a little slice. I still don't think it was all my fault though. :) Okay, Chicago: it was great. I flew by the seat of my pants once again, meeting people along the way that helped me out. I hesitate to talk too much about all the jobby stuff that happened, but I can't say that I have a job there or not. I really can't speculate online either as to whether or not I have a good chance. But the Baha'i National Center was AMAZING, and would be a really fabulous place to work I think. I actually did get to do some work for a huge conference in Milwaukee next weekend, and that was a bonus (getting work in a place where you actually may work...like a test drive). I met some great people, saw the Baha'i Temple for the first time ever, hung out next to Lake Michigan...generally fell in love with the beauty of Evanston, IL. It was really great....and I know Bryan is gonna hate me for saying it, but I could really see myself there (the chicago area). I will upload those pictures asap, but no promises because my classes are kicking my butt right now. Only 6 more weeks. 6 more weeks... 08:56 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2001I am now back from the Windy City! Unfortunately, I can't tell all about my whirlwind weekend yet because I'm extremely tired and need a nap desperately (I have seen more planes, trains, and automobiles in the past few days than I care to share). I also need a bit of time to process all that happened. I have a TON of pictures which I will hopefully get a chance to upload tomorrow. I have to catch up on the work I missed also. So much to do!!! Be sure and visit the now-functioning alexmurawski.com, the new site that I put together for Alex Murawski, my former illustration prof (and mentor!). I can't take credit for any of the imaging, but I put it all together for him. GO LOOK, but it's extremely image-intensive, so if you are on a slow connection, better skip this one. Have fun! :) 03:10 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2001I'm off to Chicago now...I'll see you all in a few days. I doubt I'll be able to log from there, but tell me how much you love me in my gbook while I'm away. Byebye! 10:17 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2001 Ha! I spit on the face of the University system, which thought it had reduced me to a sleepy overworked student once again, but I have hereby FINISHED my hellish week o' academia before heading out to the windy city tomorrow. Now I just have to print out everything and it's momma and make a sample book and oh yeah, PACK. Sleep, once again, is probably not going to happen tonight. Sigh. 06:59 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2001 Brief update (slash-procrastination-technique-on-my-paper): I had a fabulous phone interview with some great folks yesterday. Now I'm swamped. Maybe tonight will be my first college all nighter. Ironic, because all my "real" work was last semester. When does sleep come? Coffee and Creeper Lagoon are my friends. 09:52 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2001 Between the sun coming out and me having a bunch of stuff to do before I leave for Chicago, I'm gonna not be around for a while. I have a test mon, wed, a paper due wed, 2 labs due Friday (so they have to be done by wed), and 2 interviews to prepare for on Friday. I also have a freelance job to complete (but it's almost done) and my own website to tweak to make sure it's perrrrfect. AAAHHH! But you know what? I managed to spend most of yesterday at the pool. Mmhm, that's right! College proctrastination at its finest! And oh yeah, it was worth it :) 03:54 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2001 Babble time. Moms are so good. My mom just talked me right back to earth today...I've been so confused about what I'm going to be doing in the next two months...she just gave a couple of meaningful pieces of advice that put things in perspective, and for that I am grateful. Thanks mom :) That, and lately running has been very good for me. Running a couple of miles every other day is a great way to empty one's head. But now the lack of sleep is hitting me. Sleeeeeeppppyyyyyy. Babble session over. 07:26 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2001Okay, so I'm watching TV yesterday afternoon, and came across one of those super-awesome nike basketball commercials. You know, where they make all the basketball noises into rad beats and mix them all together. Well anyways, it just kept GOING. Then, I realized it was a MUSIC VIDEO!!! AAAH! I immediately went to play on nikebasketball.com where they have your OWN shockwave mixer! Madonna did this with the song Music last fall, and I was quite entertained to mix my own thing. I know, it's a ploy to get you to buy stuff, but I appreciate a good idea. Basketball noises as music. Very, very cool. (KOBE I LOVE YOU!! aaaaiiiieeee!) 10:10 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2001 Simon, have I told you lately that you rock my world?! Last night when I came in very late I found Creeper Lagoon (or as my friend Jerry likes to call it for some reason "Creeper LaPoop") sitting in a nice ups package on my couch. Whee! I woke up wiht 5 hours sleep this morning, put it in, and became instantly happy. Maybe things are turning around over here :) 07:00 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2001Okay, Statistics wizards out there, let me ask you this: when you want the sum of some numbers, why don't you just say you want the sum of some numbers? Instead you decide to say Sigma Ni x over p or some crap like that. No wonder so many people think math is hard...it's a whole other language to decipher! Only 2 more months of school...just 2 more months...just 2....just 2.... 08:20 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2001 I'm just a photo-takin maniac! Here are some more shots from the past week or so. From the looks of it, you'd think all I did was go out to eat! Well, that's definetly a favorite pasttime (and I really do mean pasttime because I'm out of money) but it's more the comradery that I was after. Enjoy. 10:02 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2001 Well, I just booked a plane ticket to come back to Atlanta from Chicago on the 24th. I'll be leaving to go up there on the 21st (hopefully...I'm flying X-fares again) for 2 interviews on the 22nd. Woo! Hey, also, if anyone has any insight on a graphic design/web design job in NYC somewhere, please by all means let me know because I want to check out all my options. Thanks yall :) 05:50 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2001I love this! I got it from Benjamin Franklin's Autobiography: "it would not be altogether absurd if a man were to thank God for his vanity among the other comforts in life." So you see, even Ben Franklin thought it was rational to be vain, after all, that's something God gave us, right? 01:10 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2001 Here are some of the digital pics I've taken in the past week. I thought these would look good together. I couldn't decide on a name for them, because I was just thinking about shapes and space and stuff like that when I took them. Let me know what you think. 10:28 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2001 A little update: I have 2 interviews in Chicago on the 22nd of this month. I have 2 "possibilities" in NYC, but in order to take advantage of those I will have to move there. That sounds risky. Maybe I should embrace the risk at this point though. 10:24 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2001 I had to archive everything. It was more than I could take to wait for all that mess to load. Here are some pictures from the past week or so. I wouldn't consider laceydotpitas as a photoblog for a couple of reasons: 1.I don't own a digital camera and it's not easy to put them up the old fashioned way and 2.this isn't a "real" hosted site, I have to host all this stuff myself...I might as well use my new domain for that, right? Well that's in the works, folks. Look for my new site (with portfolio and weblog all in one) later this summer.
