Panic time. I've got everything for my advanced typography class done, even though some of it is really bad stuff. Bad as in "I can't put my name on this" bad. I will never work in magazines, that's for sure. But on the upside, it's DONE, I'm about to make it look pretty for tomorrow, then I'm off to go study for my other exam tomorrow. Ha, I read the entire textbook this past weekend. OOOooooh the life of a procrastinator...and there are worse than me out there! aah!

08:30 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2001

Summer summer summer summer summer summer...it's about 80 something degrees here in Athens and all I can think about is the pool. (not my show, or my exam, or my crit next week...bah, school...)

02:28 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2001

Soundtrack to life right now: high school music! Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie, Pearl Jam Vs., Self SPM, Natalie Imbruglia (okay, so maybe not quite high school...), and pretty much anything noisy. I'm all over the Pistachio Medley from SP...I could listen to all 20 minutes of it. Mmmm.

10:22 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2001

Doh! I'd almost forgotten about Seth's site. I'm a horrible person!

09:11 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2001

This is very interesting! It seems that the US was voted off the UN's Human Rights Commission for the first time since 1947. The US is a very fortunate country, and I think that sometimes can blind us (living in the US) to the fact that there are people that suffer in the world...just because we don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I hope the proper changes happen...more power to the UN :)

12:40 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2001

You know, it's pretty sad, but I'm growing increasingly apathetic about exams and finals. I don't have an exam (as in, test) until next Tuesday. Which means I'm thinking more about working on my tan than my notes. Sleeping in, having nice liesurely days, working at night on graphics and stuff for my show...this is the life. I hope I do some work soon for my exam. Haha.

10:13 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2001

I got a really nice email from the writer of Violent Messiahs today. I met him at the Comicon a few weeks ago, and he GAVE me 5 of the 8 in the series. I read them all and the story is great...it has soul, which is something a lot of comics lack (just action or love or both or neither). But anyways, I want you guys if you like comics to go out and read this series, because after about issue 2 or 3 I realized they were too short and I needed a graphic novel or something to satiate my need for this story. Buy them here.

09:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2001

Go check out UGA's new School of Visual Arts website which we just put up today. My friend Daniel and I work on it, and now we finally get some of it done. :) woohoo!

02:26 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2001

I don't wanna be whiny, but I honesty haven't seen anything resulting from the reboot that is terribly exciting. Even all the big names were just ho-hum. Here's a 3d flashy graphic, click it. Here's a popupwindow with an animation in it. Here's some links which you have to rollover to find. I don't wanna spend my time looking for some hidden link which should seem like a gift or something...and usually the files that load are slow and I get impatient. Oh well. So much for that.

02:03 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2001

Woo! collab.nu! What a lovely site.
I have had heartburn for about 24 hours now...I hope reboot and that arent' connected. Someone hand me a fire extinguisher please. Ugh.

11:32 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2001

Addendum to that last entry: be sure and check out "Turing Machine," my friend Jerry's band (but he's stupid and dumb so don't talk to him).

12:41 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2001

Go check out jadetree.com. Nice flashified music and stuff.

12:11 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2001

I spent all day saturday and some of yesterday finishing up a bunch of stuff for my business and promo class. It's done! Yay! Now all I have is an AFAM2000 exam, print out all my Advanced Typography stuff, and my show. *ooh*

06:51 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2001

Check out the stamp from Israel commemorating the opening of the 19 Baha'i terraces. This is in Haifa, Israel (on Mount Carmel) where the Baha'i World Centre is. It's truly an incredible place.

09:41 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2001

Whoa! I just went to ecco domani (via photographica.org) and I thought to myself, "wow, this is a nice looking site," then, I went to the about page, and her name is Lacey! Now, I know I'm not the only Lacey out there, but I also know that we are few and far between. She's also an artist. I wonder if she's a Pisces. That would just be wierd. But go check out her site because it's very nice looking.

05:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2001

Happy graduation to Stephanie! Best of luck at Arizona State...you're gonna love it :)
Also, hi to Liz, Jaz, Suzanne, MRM...miss you guys..I need a beach vacation with the ya yas.

05:10 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2001

Someone please give me one good reason too why people think alcohol will fix a problem. Why should we waste the short time we have in this life funnelling crap into our bodies, which will be our ONLY bodies forever!? We always think that if we get some pills from the doctor that our problems will get better, or if we eat a whole chocolate cake it will make a bad day good, or if we drink a whole lot that we can forget all the bad stuff we've done in our lives. If you screw up, just FORGIVE YOURSELF and move on with life. That sounds really dumb, but the only person you have to live up to in life is yourself. Realize this people. Stop giving me drama.

12:29 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2001

Okay, so maybe 89 unique isn't alot to some folks, but it's a lot to me. Nyeh!

04:26 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2001

IM of the day:

Azariana1: bye joel! I gotta go!
TeknoRaven: me too, bye gorgoes
TeknoRaven: gorguous
Azariana1: that's gorgeous to you mister :)
Azariana1: bye!

"Gorgoes"...hahah...

04:19 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2001

Good Lord....this is the last week of class! When did this happen?! I have tomorrow and Monday, and then it's all over. My last "real" semester of college. I have 3 classes left this summer. Oh sweet Graduation.

03:34 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2001

Woohoo! Yesterday was the highest recorded visitation for laceydotpitas with a slammin 89 unique folks. Thanks to webchica, maura, and bryan. I think I'm obsessed with tracking...it's so voyeristic. I know my friends' IP addresses by heart...scary...

08:23 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2001

Yugop.com has some of the raddest actionscripting I have ever seen. There's tons of interactivity, even with other people! AAH I can't pick a favorite! If you don't have a high speed connection, might wanna skip it....even though it's bad as all getout.

08:08 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2001

I really wanna know what the big secret is. Dyin over here...

07:54 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2001

Oh yeah, you'll have to forgive my messed-upness with my jump menus over to the right. I don't know whether to blame dreamweaver or myself...eeh, it's me :) I'm gonna leave them as a testament to my blind acceptance of html editors.

12:28 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2001

Welp here's the new layout. Please write and tell me what you think in my gbook....I love to see new entries in there :)
I've been doing a gajillion dragon drawings for my portfolio class, so I thought I'd spread the love and share one of them. I have to thank Andy Lee who did the Japanese calligraphy on the graphic to the right also...it says Ginkgo (he GAVE this to me at the comicon last weekend..nice guy!). My portfolio project is about a restaurant called Ginkgo...thus the dragons and calligraphy and such. After my show on the 11th, I'll be able to post all the work. It's been a long process, but I think it's coming together. Also, keep an eye on collab for our reboot on May 1...we're really excited :)

11:02 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2001

Bryan and I are conspiring about my trip to NYC. I can hardly wait!

05:10 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2001

Tonight I finished my 12 page paper I've been working on for the past week, (12 pages seemed to fly...maybe it was just that it was spread out over a week) worked on my portfolio project, checked out sites I've been neglecting, and listened to PJ Harvey (thanks yewknee). And another thing...it's spring, and things are looking different over here. It's like my life is going somewhere. College always seemed like such an endless tunnel, but now there's the end of it staring me in the face. I'm applying for jobs, getting tips, getting connected...it's really quite awesome..how everyone is intermingled and talking with each other. And on a personal note, I'm enjoing life a whole lot right now. I almost wish I could stay right here forever.

09:53 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2001

I had a fantabulous weekend. Can't say too much because all my work is due in a week (!!!!!!!) and then we are rebooting collab (!!!) and I'm trying to redesign pitas (!) all at the same time. Sorry if there are infrequent updates. And I have a show on May 11 which is nowhere near being done. AAAHHHH!!!!!!

07:30 a.m., Monday, April 23, 2001

Aaah...Today is the kind of day where I just want to be romping around in my grandfather's backyard in Tennessee...all that lush, cold grass under my feet. I wanna be a kid again on days like today...sunny, clear, mid-70s...the air smells incredible! I managed to become cleaning crazy person (for lack of better phrasing) today and cleaned my entire apartment from top to bottom. Spring cleaning is awesome...yes, mundane and grungy, but once it's done, you just sit on your couch with the windows open and prop your bare feet up. It's a good feeling.
Tomorrow I'm busy as all getout. I'm doing the MS Walk tomorrow in Atlanta @ Piedmont park, then tomorrow night is coffeehouse back in Athens, then I have a date (gasp!) after that. Okay, from now on I'm not gonna use pitas as my day planner. Enough of this madness :)

03:43 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2001

New layout soon. Just a warning.

09:22 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2001

Planet of the Drums is such a guy site. But it is still B.A. if you ask me. I'm even using the wallpaper. Whee!
And on that note, I *love* drum n bass music. I'm always looking for new groups/dj's to listen to. So if you have any suggestions, drop me an email or scratch it in my gbook. (link via yewknee)

09:05 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2001

I think senioritis has finally set in. I don't wanna do AAAANNNYYYTHIING!! la la laaaa

03:56 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2001

Pepsi One, where have you been all my life?

01:02 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2001

Ain't nobody dope as me I'm just so fresh an' clean.

04:06 p.m., Monday, April 16, 2001

I must apologize...I've been too busy to log these days...but not just that. It's like pulling teeth somtimes to find something worthy to write about. Not that most of the stuff on this site isn't just plain silly...but it's fun when I can pay attention to it. Thanks, guys :)

I got to meet DAVID MACK(!!!!!) this weekend at the Atlanta Comicon. Yes, I went to a comic book convention. Yes, I'm a big geek. SOwhat I say! :) I had SO much fun, got to meet a plethora of cool people (artists and writers) that I honestly didn't expect to meet, and naturally, got to meet Mack, and Anh and Andy Lee and Bendis and a bunch of other folks you may or may not have heard of. It was truly fun!

Then my mom came into town and we've been goofing off ever since she got here. She's so much fun! She's helping me with my senior project, and I think we made some real breakthroughs today. Tomorrow it's class and shopping, then she's back to TN. :( But at least we got to hang out for a couple of days, anyhow. It's been such a great weekend :)

11:37 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2001

OH my goodness I love Leah's site. It's goin on the daily list right now.

07:38 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2001

Ever get a really unsettling feeling and you can't figure out what set it off? I think that may be the worst feeling of all time.

01:17 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2001

There's something sinister about Winn.

08:12 a.m., Thursday, April 12, 2001

Whoa, I had a dream this morning right before I woke up that I went to see an acoustic Aerosmith show. Everyone there looked like they had never seen a concert before (there were probably 50 people there at the most), and no one was standing up front near the band. So I went up right in front of Steven Tyler. They started to play a song (don't know which one, although I knew it in my dream), and there was this part where Steven Tyler started to play his guitar with a key to make it sound wierd. For some odd reason, I reached out with my own key and strummed the next cord of the song. Tyler just looked like that was the logical thing to do, and then the guy across from me did the same thing! AND THEN THE ALARM WENT OFF. Concert dreams..

08:01 a.m., Thursday, April 12, 2001

Ooo oo oo!! I'm going to NYC in May! I got my scheduling conflicts worked out....today I am thanking the university system.

02:58 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2001

Whoa, I have terrible syntax. Just thought I'd say so.

07:38 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2001

My folio site is finally up! Go check it out and let me know what you think!

11:08 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2001

Gotta thank Jaemie for linking me over at webchica. (great domain name, eh?) My goodness, if I could give one piece of advice to aspiring art students it would be to DRAW LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT (that even means graphic designers). You would be surprised as to how many people are in art school because they "love" it, yet, they never draw unless told to do so. Jaemie's got the right idea. Also, while I'm giving out advice, you don't have to love what you draw. And if you do love what you draw, tear it up just because you know you can do it again! :) Never love your sketchbook too much. Okay, that's my advice for the day. Maybe I should write an online survival guide for art majors. Or not. :)

02:36 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2001

UGH! I HATE REGISTRATION! You'd think they would offer the classes I need, as I only need 3 of them to graduate. They SHOULD have made the schedule around ME. Sheesh!

01:50 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2040

Sorry I haven't logged much in the past few days. I've been very busy with Carson and school and bla bla bla. Also, I think I'll be ready to launch my portfolio site in the next couple of days. I'm still working the bugs out of it, but the majority of it is completed and awaiting launch. Hopefully also I'll have a new pitas layout up here soon if all goes my way. I'm workin as fast as I can, I promise!

On a different note, I'm gonna go to the Atlanta ComiCon next Friday night and finally get to meet my favorite comic book artist David Mack! And to make things even better, him and Andy Lee (another great artist) are playing together in a band at some kind of comic party that night! Woo! (I have reached an entirely new level of geekiness...just thought I'd make sure you all knew I knew...)

12:34 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2001

Carson is here. AAH!

01:11 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2001

I seem to be having insomnia lately (on top of having lost my sense of smell). Last night I was at the computer lab and I didn't get tired until at least 2:30. Then I went home, slept for a little while, and came back to this place at 7:30am, only to be wide awake. Jeez. Trade in a sense of smell for a few extra hours of awake time. Not sure I like this.

07:54 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2001

It's true, I am a virtual font database. Gimme your best shot. :)

09:33 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2001

A few random notes: maura redesigned; been working on my portfolio site, where the heck is Simon??; and what the heck is up with Slobodan Milosevic? This morning on npr they gave a startling recount of his dramatic arrest. Very disturbing.

07:52 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2001

Whoa! Tonight I was just introduced to Thievery Corporation. If you like electronica, you must check them out. They remind me of something I can't put my finger on...a little spy, a little badass, a little urban...aw yeah. I will have to acquire more of this.

11:11 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2001

I bow down and worship untitled.nu. Art for art's sake at it absolute finest. Makes me want to kick myself in the pants.

09:03 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2001

I don't quite know how to start this...it's kinda wierd for me, because I knew it, and at the same time had no way of knowing. Many of you who know me and my family personally know our family dog, Fluffy. We got her from the humane society (already named) when I was 8 and my brother was 4 (she was the same age as my brother)...and on Monday, we finally had to put her to sleep. She provided endless amounts of entertainment and love as many family dogs do, and she will be sorely, painfully missed. But she was 17 years old (!) and that's quite a nice life for a dog :)

The reason it's so wierd is because I had this dream on I guess it was Tuesday night about Fluffy. It was all very strange and made no sense in a lot of ways, but it went something like this: there was some kind of fire, in which a house burned down. The people inside perished. Fluf was in the fire, but she survived. My mom and I were detectives I guess, because we were going through the rubble of the house before the cops were there, and we found the remains of one of the house's occupants, and then Fluffy came out of nowhere...she was younger somehow, but still slightly scathed from the fire. The dream went on in a very XFiles fashion (I watched a LOT of tv this week), but I still knew when I woke up that Fluf was off to the next doggy world. I even told my dad about it on the phone the next day, but they didn't want to upset me when I was sick...so he attributed my wierd dream to my sickness. But I knew. So strange.

12:24 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2001

Oooohhh...go read Linder's site. This girl took off and moved to Japan, not speaking any Japanese and started over. That is so cool! I got sucked into her site...very good read.

11:10 a.m., Friday, March 30, 2001

I am still sick, but today I am at school...I cannot stand the thought of my couch for another second. I think I have gone into TV overload...I literally had to force myself to separate from the remote last night. Good grief...and daytime tv is just embarassing. I like to sleep through the adjustable matress commericals, and I am SO grateful that I have cable and have a choice when The Price is Right comes on. I have memories of my childhood, of being sick and having no cable, being subjected to The Price is Right. Someone please put that show out of its misery. But thank you to everyone who said to get well soon! It helped :)

On another note, next week (the!) David Carson will be coming to UGA. He'll be here from Wed night through Sat night. Friday night he will be speaking, and Saturday night is alumni night and he'll be doing something there as well. So if you wanna come hang out with one of the most cool graphic designers of our time (versus another time?), come on out to Athens, GA next week. Woo!

09:42 a.m., Friday, March 30, 2001

I'm siiiickkkkk...(insert groan of choice here)

05:26 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2001
