This layout is halfway done, but this is the new look for laceydotpitas. I'll add the links and other stuff later. Sorry guys, got a whole lotta work to do.
[Wednesday, September 6, 2000 @ 05:48 p.m.]

Now, I would like to quote Modest Mouse:
Were goin down the road towards tiny cities made of ashes
Gonna hit you on your face gonna punch you in your glasses. Oh no
I just got a message that said "Yeah hell is freezin over"
I got a phone call from the Lord sayin "Hey boy git a sweater. Right now"
So we're drinkin drinkin drinkin coca-coca-cola
I can feel it rollin right on down
Oh right on down my throat
And as were headed down the road towards tiny cities made of ashes
I'm gonna get dressed up in plastic gonna shake hands with the masses. Oh no!

[Tuesday, September 5, 2000 @ 09:05 p.m.]

Alrighty, laceydotpitas is all trebuche-d for a little while. We'll see how it goes.

Gurgle..

This weekend was great and great and great. I had a blast. I got to see my Baha'i friends from Murfreesboro, TN and also my friend Tahirih from DC. I had SO much fun, in fact, that I totally forgot that I had a whole lotta work due today, and subsequently didn't get to work on it until about 10 or 11 last night. And you know, today is my first day at my new job which I was meant to be at at 8am. Did I make that? Did I even have time to wash my hair or anything before I left in a mad panic to get here? Hell, no! Nice start to an already delayed week. I'm resolving to become more efficient. I just hope it isn't already too late...
[Tuesday, September 5, 2000 @ 07:49 a.m.]

Well folks I'm heading out Friday night for a weekend of fun at Monteagle, TN for Tennessee Baha'i Institute, a conference I look forward to every year. This week has sent me up and down all over the place emotionally and physically, so I'll just say that this weekend will be a nice time to get myself somewhat centered again.
I thought that I should probably perhaps mention things that I am reading and theme songs and such in my entries (just to be a little MORE like jack). So right now I'm listening to "Deathly" by Aimee Mann and am reading Kurt Vonnegut's Bagambo Snuff Box and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. All I got to say about the ya-yas is that it should have been called "Things Jaz, Liz, MRM and Lacey should have done." Well I guess it's never too late to go skinny dipping in the local water tower and then get arrested, eh? Sounded great in the book...
Happy Labor Day, all :)
[Friday, September 1, 2000 @ 12:51 a.m.]

Well, I've been caught. Jack seemed to notice that my site looks qite similar to his. Guilty as charged. Wouldn't it be funny if I just went around making layouts that mirrored all the people I have linked here? It would take a lot of time, but I could have moosle week, yewknee week, saturn week...hm. I think I'd be making enemies :) Okay, time to put up that heavily-procrastinated on new layout for pitas...
[Thursday, August 31, 2000 @ 12:50 p.m.]

I have a new favorite song on the Magnolia soundtrack: it's called Deathly. I love Aimee Mann. Why is it I have only found her music recently? You'd think I was living in a cave or something.
[Thursday, August 31, 2000 @ 12:25 a.m.]

I like this guy's drawings. It's got that graffiti comic-bookie illustration thing goin on. He's obviously very talented (and rich too, because every piece I liked was already sold..).
[Thursday, August 31, 2000 @ 01:06 a.m.]

I am obsessed with San Francisco lately. I'm checking Jack Saturn's site every ten minutes, goin through all his mp3's, chatting with hifiart, and on top of that, going through all the mp3s at betalounge.com. I found it through cowplop.com, and it's a live music/dj site out of SF. They have some trippy stuff goin on there. I'm also visiting blogger's freshly blogged list a whole lot. Shew.
[Thursday, August 31, 2000 @ 12:32 a.m.]

All I have to say about the last episode of Nikita is OH..MY..GOD!
[Sunday, August 27, 2000 @ 11:38 p.m.]

Go look at my new teaser. I cut it up and coded it all in fireworks and golive. I have no shame now.
[Saturday, February 11, 2040 @ 01:47 a.m.]

It's a perfectly drizzly overcast Sunday here in Athens, GA. I have to listen to Propellerheads to keep from falling asleep. If it wasn't so muggy out, I'd say it felt like Christmas.
Wow, I had tense problems in that last paragraph.
Last night I had a nice chat with the guy that runs hifiart.com and I might be doing some work with him. He's out of San Francisco (my current place-of-emphatuation), and the ideas that come out of there are so fresh. To be a designer living in SF...wow...but go check out hifiart. I got really interested in street graffiti and hiphop my freshman year of college, and this site kindof embodies that whole scene. Check it out.
[Sunday, August 27, 2000 @ 03:39 p.m.]

Lookie lookie..

[Saturday, August 26, 2000 @ 12:43 p.m.]

I am listening to the Magnolia soundtrack right now because Aimee Mann rules the world. If you are a human being, you need to own some of her music. #8, "Wise Up" is truly amazing.
I am probably going to regret this later, but I wanted to share with the internet some things I wrote last night:

After he left it was just...quiet. I couldn't hear anything...nothing but the echoes of the previous hours. The animation and elation and confusion...all fusing together in my head into something which felt like a big question mark in the end. I tried to move, but the air felt so still...like I would break it if I made a move, like any noise I made would erase time and this moment would be gone forever. Like the quiet was my friend I was confiding in, and in return was giving me advice. Minutes pass, and I finally move...
[Saturday, August 26, 2000 @ 02:03 a.m.]

Maybe the fact that I'm loogging this is just more testament to my nerdiness, but I found this extremely useful just now. Tee hee...
And everyone needs to go visit Downtothewireart.com!
[Friday, August 25, 2000 @ 06:16 p.m.]

I fixed the link below. Sorry.
It is hard to put into words what I feel today. I feel giddy and elated and superhuman almost. I can't tell you one exact thing, but things are just great. I went to the gym today and just ran on the treadmill...I usually have no endurance, but I ran straight for 10 minutes and could have gone longer...so I did. MAN, what is goin on with me? But it feels good, so I'll go with it. As the Baha'is would say, "Ya Baha'u'l-Abha," or "Glory of the Most Glorious" or "aw yeah!" in Baha'i-talk. :)
[Wednesday, August 23, 2000 @ 10:22 p.m.]

This too. I miss makin stuff like that.
[Wednesday, August 23, 2000 @ 01:06 p.m.]

I made this today. Hardee har.
[Wednesday, August 23, 2000 @ 01:02 p.m.]

I would like to tell the world that I am the proud new owner of two (yes, two) signed prints by Mr. David Mack, author and illustrator of the Image Comic Kabuki. Not ONLY are they signed, but one of them says, "TO LACEY." Awwww YEAH! My friend Bonnie from Digital Insight picked them up for me at Dragon Con this year. She rules!
[Tuesday, August 22, 2000 @ 11:29 p.m.]

Caffemocha's got some rad desktops for download. Go hook yo' self up.
[Tuesday, August 22, 2000 @ 01:45 p.m.]

I love h73.com just as much as the next designer, but I've tried and I just can't figure out their current splash. Are they redesigning and this is the teaser? I can't figure out how to get into the friggen site. Argh.
[Tuesday, August 22, 2000 @ 01:41 p.m.]

Officially launched: yewknee.com, v1.1. According to Michael, mce2a is offically abandoned. I hope he gets as playful with yewknee.com as he did with his school site, because I miss that element of color. It seems that he's moving in a more photography-based design scheme...it will be interesting to see what happens. I should get off my butt and get lay-c.com now.
[Saturday, August 19, 2000 @ 09:38 a.m.]

I wanted to let everyone know that the graphic design lab at uga is now officially "awesome." Yesterday I discovered a beautiful 21" new Mac monitor sitting right next to a large printer...and there appears to be a lovely scanner sitting next to the sparkly G4 box. Aaaah, yes, it's a wonderful life. And just to add to the glory of it all, there are 2 other new scanners, one of which opens horizontally which is nice.
And I love Macintosh, but what the heck is up with Explorer 4.5 on Mac? I go to cnn.com and the words are all over the place. Netscape stinks, and it doesn't do that! And fonts are weird too...and when I roll over a style sheet hover link, a little paper icon appears and there is a delay in the rollover. Can someone shed some light to me on why the greatest browser looks bad on the best computers? :)
[Friday, August 18, 2000 @ 10:27 a.m.]

Whoa! Subinev is on the Freshly Dropped list at cowplop.com. Whoa! I don't know how long it will be there so go check it out. Also, I would like to point out that Submethod.com is the most graphically beautiful site I've seen in a while. Go see it before a new layout takes over. Out.
[Thursday, August 17, 2000 @ 01:24 p.m.]

Why did no one tell me my pitas page looks like poo in netscape??? Well it's all fixed now, thanks a lot.
I'm back in Athens now, in my cute little apartment. I am finally getting things organized, and it looks like a home almost! I'm happy to say that it's the least ghetto place I've lived in about 2 years..haha..and it already is feeling good being here.
Funny thing about yesterday though. My dad went to Atlanta sunday night (he works there sometimes) and I sent all my clothes with him (everything that was in my closet, with the exception of just a few things). So yesterday before I left for Atlanta, he called saying that the car had been broken into and all my clothes were STOLEN!!!!! Whaaaa?!??!?! Yeah. I have a lot of stuff that wasn't in there, so it's not like I'll be completely bereft of clothing, but still! My wool peacoat, 6 dresses, countless nice shirts, bathrobe...all gone now. Probably sitting in a dumpster somewhere just because someone decided to be a jerk. Well I hope you enjoy them! I sure have! Sheesh. I'm just being silly, really...I'm not too terribly upset about this, because I think I have enough stuff. But a lot is gone now. Argh...just one more thing to think about...

[Tuesday, August 15, 2000 @ 05:56 p.m.]

Well here it is, the night before I leave. I feel ready, but I'm also a little afraid to leave the security I have come to know here. But I have had an incredible summer, so it's really nothing to complain about. :)
I spent the evening talking with my friend Daniel from school on the phone, and he was filling me in on what many of our peers did this summer. Everyone seems to have had incredible experiences that can't be topped. I'm finally starting to realize that these people who I love so much are going to be my job competition...and sooner than I thought. I hate (emphasis on that word) to be competitive, because I have always been of the belief that there will inevitably be someone that can draw better, or design better, or be better looking with a cuter dog than yours or whatever. But these are my friends! I am so happy that everyone is doing so well, but I can't help but wonder if I'll be able to do what I want to do when I want to. I just assumed I would find what I was looking for. What if I don't? I should rename this site "lacey's search for self-realization." Hm. Sorry, I'm kinda tired right now. I'll write more when I get back to Athens. Maybe my doubts will be abolished by then :)
[Monday, August 14, 2000 @ 12:30 a.m.]

Oh yeah, my gbook is back up and running...so go sign it!!!
[Sunday, August 13, 2000 @ 01:08 a.m.]

I gave a whole little spiel on my arches site tonight, so go read it! :) This is my last "fun" night here in Nashville, because come Monday 8am, I'm off to Atlanta again, then Athens. It's gonna be CRAZY!!! First, gotta drive 4 hours to Atlanta. Then at 2 dad and I are picking up a Uhaul, and going to Buford, where all my stuff is in storage. There we will load everything (that currently is packed to the gills in a 10x10 unit) into the truck and drive to Athens, and hour away. Then I will move in. Joy. I'm excited about the apartment, but it's gonna be a looong day. I feel sorry for my dad, who I know will be doing more heavy lifting than me in that oh-so-moist Georgia heat. All I gotta say is someone better pray. If any of my Athens friends are reading this and wanna help me move in, just call my cell phone Monday and let me know. I'll take anyone....
[Sunday, August 13, 2000 @ 01:02 a.m.]

I had no idea that Modest Mouse had so many albums. I went to CDnow to add Moon & Antarctica to my wish list, and there was a whole string of other albums from them there. I listened to the album at Tower this weekend and really liked it, so hopefully I'll be getting it in the next few months. I also really like Shivaree, so I hope to be getting that as well. I don't think I'll be getting them anytime soon though because today I got all 4 tires replaced on my car (grrr..). One of them was so bad it could have gone at any second. Yikes!
Also, I know my gbook isn't working right now because they are working on the server. So I really would like to know what you think of this here new layout. My IM is azariana1, so msg me if you want. I'd like to hear from ya!
[Thursday, August 10, 2000 @ 03:40 p.m.]

New layout on the way. Heads up.
[Tuesday, August 8, 2000 @ 10:29 p.m.]

They got your grit right here at mental.nu. This site is awesome. Not only do they archive their extremely slick splash pages, but they even have equally-slick wallpaper to dl. And if you're a designer that's into that gritty look, they even have some "dirty" fonts. Werd. Aside from the cool look, though, there is a lack of some verbage. SO I don't really know who these people are. Oh well.
[Monday, August 7, 2000 @ 02:06 p.m.]

ooOOOOooOoO...go check out Michael's new site over at yewknee.com. He's got the phonetic action goin' on in that url, and that's fine by me. After all, I am also called Lay-C. Maybe I should get lay-c.com secured, eh?
[Saturday, August 5, 2000 @ 01:01 p.m.]

aah..I just found the link for the UGA Graphic Design dept. I am anxious to get back to school and work. It's almost over..
[Friday, August 4, 2000 @ 02:35 a.m.]

Hee hee...I just found out that Subinev works for Baywatch. Wow.
[Friday, August 4, 2000 @ 02:26 a.m.]

After a summer of delays, I am happy to say that Downtothewireart.com is finally live! Woo! I did all the photography for this site, too. Glad that it's up and going.
[Thursday, August 3, 2000 @ 11:32 p.m.]

I think I'm procrastinating on going to sleep, because I'm looking at Martha Stewart's website again. Her ideas seem even better under the delerium of sleep deprivation.
[Thursday, August 3, 2000 @ 04:26 a.m.]

I was at Barnes and Noble tonight getting my weekly dose of news and pop culture from the magazine racks when I came across Shift, a magazine "for living in digital culture." It had nice graphic design and everything, but I really got sucked into it's content (note: the website is disappointing compared with the magazine, which is really quite nice..if you read Blue it's the same story). I got the url for this design company called Phoenix-pop, based out of San Francisco (of course). Their site is very clean and nice to look at and easy to navigate, which I can't stress enough for these new trendy sites all over the place. Do you ever go to a site where you give up before you even go in because you're not exactly sure where you're going? Well anyhow, Phoenix-pop isn't like that, so whatever. But my favorite part was how they did their portfolio...nice little pop up with a screen shot and a good explanation for their thoughts. Well done.
Another site I got from Shift was for The Fridgecam. As you can guess, it's a cam in the fridge. I just thought that was funny. Why not? They're everywhere else, right?
[Thursday, August 3, 2000 @ 03:55 a.m.]

Yep..that last entry was pure babble. Howya doin.
[Wednesday, August 2, 2000 @ 06:59 p.m.]

The smell of onions has permeated the ENTIRE house. My stomach turns...
So I've decided that the plague of weddings is just following me. I'm designing my friend Nick's program...it's looking good, but y'know...I kept catching myself typing things like
Explanation of Vows
Exchange of vows
Exchange of rings...WOO HOO!!
When you start adding commentary in a wedding program (which they will keep forever and ever I'm sure), you know you've been to one too many weddings. 4 Weddings and a Funeral...I'm tellin' ya...
[Wednesday, August 2, 2000 @ 06:53 p.m.]

After some friendly banter earlier today, I created Michael's first fan art. I thought it was appropriate after he made fun of me all night. Touche. ;)
[Monday, July 31, 2000 @ 10:47 p.m.]

I wanna go to a fashion show. Waah.
[Monday, July 31, 2000 @ 04:11 a.m.]

When I did a search for Sonique a few months ago, all I got was stuff about the sonique media player, when I was actually searching for the musician. Seeing that she's on the Now Music 4 cd I tried again and was able to find her on CDnow. I listened to all the tracks they had available, and y'know, I don't like any of them except for the one on the Now Music CD. Sigh. I always hope that's not gonna happen. Alas...
[Monday, July 31, 2000 @ 01:50 a.m.]

Oh m'goodness, I updated my own site. And it's only been a month since my last update...
[Sunday, July 30, 2000 @ 10:33 p.m.]

I feel as if I have been traumatized by the death of a cat. Perhaps this is a biiiiit melodramatic, but I don't know...I just get butterflies in my stomach before I approach the place where it happened. You see, last night we were coming back from the Yes/Kansas concert, and we hit a cat. There was really nothing we could have done. The cat literally jumped out right in front of us. But I saw it before we hit it, just walking along. WHY did it have to jump out in front of us?!??! I just feel like it was someone's pet or something. But I've driven by that place 3 times now since it happened, and the cat is still there in the middle of the road. Good Grief. I think this is all because we've got our new cute little kitten, Swimmy, and I'm feeling a bit of understanding towards the poor thing we hit. Yes, this is melodramatic. Maybe I'll just get over it.
[Sunday, July 30, 2000 @ 09:41 p.m.]

Oh yes, I'll also be bidding on my gas from now on. Take that! Thank you William Shatner.
[Saturday, July 29, 2000 @ 02:42 a.m.]

I have resolved to be a more aware consumer. I am sick of paying for stuff I don't have to, and paying too much, and really doing things the hard way a lot of times. So I am going to harness the power of the internet before I go back to school, and will be making weekly visits to Priceline.com to buy my groceries. This is a marvelous thing. Even if you bid higher than what you could have gotten, you are still getting it cheaper than you would at Kroger (or Publix..or wherever).
While I'm talking about saving money on food, I truly am peeved that when I go to any grocery store now you have to have a "bonus card" or something to that effect. If you have the card, you save extra money, and usually it's a pretty significant amount. This peeves me because I don't have a card, and I don't want one, because I already have 5 MILLION other cards. Frequent user cards, video cards, now a Priceline card, credit card, debit card, business cards...there must be something simpler than this. I know it would probably take me all of 3 minutes to get signed up for this grocery card, but I don't want to deal with more cards!!!! SHEESH!!!! I am really hoping going through priceline will make my life easier. I really dislike going grocery shopping. This way when I go to the store, it's already paid for, and I don't have to worry about a "bonus advantage." Woo for the internet.
[Saturday, July 29, 2000 @ 02:12 a.m.]

Hello again, internet...it was a lovely 4 days without you but I just can't stay away :) I'm back from Florida. Beach was pretty...we weren't there for long, really. There are some entertaining stories to tell from the beach but I'll save them until I'm ready to embarass myself. Har har.
I saw that Napster has been ordered to shut down. I've kept quiet about this issue because it's a sticky wicket. I didn't think that they would actually shut it down, though. So, I hope people fight for what they love; it's gonna be interesting to see.
[Thursday, July 27, 2000 @ 12:46 a.m.]

Well I'm off to the beach again for a few days. I should be back wednesday. We're going to Destin, Florida, where all the beautiful people (who aren't in Miami) go. Visit Miriam's site while I'm gone. Make a gal happy. :)
[Sunday, July 23, 2000 @ 01:16 a.m.]

For all you designers and type nerds out there, this site has a font cookbook. I guess I'm ready to back to school when I'm looking up stuff on type for fun, eh? Thanks to Digitalthread for the link.
[Friday, July 21, 2000 @ 01:15 a.m.]

Surprise surprise, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are getting married. I had no idea Brad was 36! Well anywho, I guess the most beautiful people need to be together. I couldn't imagine being famous and single. Can you picture the challenge of finding a mate? Bodyguards around you all the time, fans screaming at you, the press...there's no level of normality. Even everyday stuff is a HUGE deal for celebrities. I see it all the time in magazines...Cameron Diaz on her cell phone walking down the sidewalk, so and so shopping for groceries...good grief. But I couldn't have put two more suitable people together. Beauty marries beauty. Imagine that.
[Friday, July 21, 2000 @ 12:27 a.m.]

Gah! They just keep coming! Try "haiku the blog", where all the blogs are in haiku form. Yet another one jaz will appreciate. I'll have to inform her of this development.

..and another thing. this guy scanned his cat (and his watch, and his pants..and something called "boogers" which I'm not real sure about). Daniel S, that one's for you. Heh..the digital swirlee...
[Wednesday, July 19, 2000 @ 02:53 a.m.]

Bee hee hee...my Professor Poopypants name is Booger Lizardfanny. Jasmine will appreciate that one. Hey, I'm thinking I should do a new layout for this site...what do ya'll think? (no, I don't really say "ya'll" in real life..)
[Wednesday, July 19, 2000 @ 02:46 a.m.]

Caffemocha, where have you been all my life?
[Wednesday, July 19, 2000 @ 02:14 a.m.]

Bla blibbity bla bla bla...

Tomb Raider is making me motion sick. This disturbs me greatly, as I cannot stop playing this game. I'm pretty far, too...I just keep getting places. Unfortunately, like I stated before, without the cheats I'd not be doing this well. Lara's jumping all over the place and there's samauri henchmen after her and she's got uzi's and shotguns and poison arrows and artifacts and since I really have no idea where I'm going I do a lot of turning around and unnecessary jumping and flipping backwards (as I am getting pretty good at this)...it's enough to make one ill.
I finished my client's site today. I hope she likes it! I'll link it when it's up. Ba-woosh.
Oh yeah, go visit saturn.org. I like it there.
[Wednesday, July 19, 2000 @ 01:50 a.m.]

A few things to say today. First, MRM has a new site and it's lookin' pretty darn good. And to MRM, I don't think good design has anything do do with flashiness :)
Secondly, I realized today that good driving to me means not turning off your cruise control and weaving through traffic at 75mph on the interstate. Do people here just not know how to speed or something? Maybe I just got a little too used to the way Atlantians drive...but I think I'm different in that I don't have a death wish.
And I'm officially addicted to Tomb Raider (the last revelation) on PlayStation. So much so that I look up cheats on the internet. Good, eh? I don't know how we're meant to figure out some of this stuff though! For example, in one room, you are meant to jump on all the illuminated tiles on an entirely tiled floor. If you miss, you have to start all over, go back and around all over the place and try again. Now how are we supposed to know that? So yeah, I won't rest normally until I can do all this myself. Is there anyone else out there addicted to this game? Can I get some help for this kind of thing?
[Sunday, July 16, 2000 @ 01:31 a.m.]

I stumbled upon this site and was happy instantly. I really like the design, and anyone who hates all melon (watermelon, canteloupe, honey dew, yuck, yuck and yuck) is O-K by me!
[Saturday, July 15, 2000 @ 02:19 a.m.]

My brother looks at me and says, "This is like Doogie Howser. You know, he gets home from a nice evening, hops on the computer and proceeds to reflect on the day." So I was thinking that statement was pretty darn true. I told my brother about the night I had tonight...and after chatting with Liz I realized that when you are trying really hard to have fun, and make sure that everyone else is having fun, you end up not having fun at all. This was the case tonight. So my "therapy" (for lack of a better word) tonight is the internet. Something just happened to our evening of celebrating Jasmine's 21st bday. Started off great with a nice cello concert, then off to food, and it all started to go downhill at a certain cafe. The mood was just weird, and turned sour rather quickly. We left and tried to redeem the night, but alas, it didn't work. So here I am at home feeling very slumped over at the family computer in my nice clothes, smellin' like cigarettes. Ugh. I want to start over! Can we just rewind time and start the evening over? Good grief...
[Friday, July 14, 2000 @ 01:28 a.m.]

Just saw High Fidelity tonight, and holy cow was it funny. Everyone must go see it. Let me lend this peice of advice though: if you do start to get annoyed with this film, just hang in there until a scene where John Cusack faces "Ian," and keep your eye on the shy guy behind the counter. I can still hear Miriam laughing. :)
[Thursday, July 13, 2000 @ 02:05 a.m.]

Aah..nice an' clean. I wish I could tell the world I had some new photos I could show, but I don't. And I don't have any new websites or anything like that..although I'm working on a site for a client right now. And I don't really have any new stuff to say either. BUT, I can say that this has been a really great summer sofar. Aw yeah.
