My comments in brackets in italics.

You're a Gryffinclaw!: You are a determined and intelligent person who is used to getting your own way all the time. (Not true.) You are very passionate about your beliefs and will defend them until your last breath. (Not true.) Often Griffinclaws work as lawyers or activists because they have feel so strongly about a certain subject. (No.) You feel that knowledge is to be used in a practical way and you often have a very low tolerance for people you consider of low intelligence. (Yes to former, no to latter. I have low tolerance for everything that gets on my nerves.) Although you aren't a social butterfly, you don't have trouble making fiends(Is this an on purpose typo? :x) (Not true.), people are usually drawn to you (Not.). Your weakness is that sometimes you can be insensitive (Yes.), you're too busy being witty that you don't realize that you're hurting peoples' feelings (Maybe.), often your friends (Yes, I do.). With the wit of a Ravenclaw and the passion of a Gryffindor you can face all your battles in life head on! (What does this mean exactly??? o.O;;)

EDIT:
Now THIS is more me. I changed some answers back to my first instinct choices and viola~

[/insert Slytherclaw pic] You're a Slytherclaw!: By nature you are rational and a realist. Some people may call you cynical and elitist but this doesn't matter to you. You don't depend on other people's opinions to determine how you live your life. You are generally cautious and prefer to weigh the consequences before you act. In conflicts you prefer to remain neutral and aloof. You value intelligence and you are a natural diplomat, you can convince people to do what you want them to do. Your weakness is that you sometimes think more with your head than with your heart and it leads to isolation. With the intelligence of a Ravenclaw and the subtlety of a Slytherin you will be sure to achieve all your goals!

da new Windows - 07:42 p.m.

Just read an article on the upcoming Windows Vista. This article has some screen caps on what it looks like, and my reaction upon seeing is: urgh >.>;;; I don't mind the black taskbars, it's certainly better than the flaming blue WinXP has on default, but the green!! *dies* I really hope it's just a theme that the beta tester choose... I couldn't take the purple either. x_o;; And the recycling bin icon... >.>;;;; Also that wallpaper.. x_x It just looked very mismatch. :T

I'm okay with the transparency, but isn't really a big fan of it. If only they would leave those greens and purples as white, or grey, or just one single colour. I do like the glassy (aqua) black thou, just like the MacOSs' blue. :P I wonder too if my folder icon changer program would still work in vista. :O Other than that, not much else opinions on it. I'll most likely stick with XP when Vista comes out (since I have no money to buy a fresh copy or a fresh computer anyway :P), just like how I stuck with ME for a long time before I finally made the switch to XP. Oh, and by the by, I still don't like the control panel displayed in sections like that... /me too attached to the older windows' look.

no life - 12:38 a.m.

Judging by the frequency at which I appear here lately, I guess it is safe to say that I have no life. :/ I need to find new stuffs to read. /am currently not too enthusiastic about visiting and reading forums or MLs or whatnot. :T Soo... what's going on in the world? And in people's life? Maybe I should go back to manga reading. There are bound to be something there.

I should be preparing for school stuffs thou, since August is almost here. :T *sigh* And we haven't done a thing yet. Tuition invoice came today, and I am right, I don't have enough $$ to pay for it... dunno what to do, dunno what to do. :T

So yes, aside from that, I'm bored and have no motivation to do anything... :X I've been trying to 自我増値 for the most of summer, but all that I seem to have accomplished is 半途而廢... Not a promising lookout. But hopefully I'll pick up the drive to do things again. :T

another romantic comedy - 07:30 p.m.

Saw Wimbledon yesterday, and it was a charming little movie. :D I like the British-ness of everything in there, especially the accent of course, although I still needed subtitles so I could make sure I understand everything. It's full of the kind of depreciating humour that I like, making you root for the underdog and all. :) But I find myself being amused more by the little bits of life funnies than the romance. :P I still don't like Kirsten Dunst's acting, she reminds me of how she was in Spiderman urr.. 2 I think, didn't see the first one. It was a little hard for me to find her convincing as her character. She is so clearly 'pretending', instead of 'acting'. *shrug* Other than that, the other characters are nicely done. The main guy is a little old thou >.>;;;; Even thou they didn't say her age, but just think about it, he's 32, and she's in her first wimbledon. By today's standard, that's either late teens or early twenties... >.>;;;; At least his blond hair made it slightly tolerable. :P The romance is a little stretching, everything happens too fast for me. But oh well. :P Oh, and the whole best friend urm.. concept/thing in the movie, maybe I'm just too corrupted and seeing things (I know I am), it got a little ghey by the end... >.>;; Someone please watch it and tell me I'm just seeing too much. Oh... but his best friend (who also appeared in Kingdom of Heaven) is sort of good looking. :P

quiz result - 06:45 p.m.

phew~ Glad I'm not really evil material... >.>;;

The Expatriate
Achtung! You are 30% brainwashworthy, 27% antitolerant, and 23% blindly patriotic
Congratulations! You are not susceptible to brainwashing, your values and cares extend beyond the borders of your own country, and your Blind Patriotism ("patriotism" for short) does not reach unhealthy levels. In Germany in the 30s, you would've left the country.

One bad scenario -- as I hypothetically project you back in time -- is that you just wouldn't have cared one way or the other about Nazism. Maybe politics don't interest you enough. But the fact that you took this test means they probably do. I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt.

Did you know that many of the smartest Germans departed prior to the beginning of World War II, because they knew some evil shit was brewing? Brain Drain. Many of them were scientists. It is very possible you could be one of them, depending on your age.

Conclusion: Born and raised in Germany in the early 1930's, you would not have been a Nazi.

My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
free online datingfree online dating
You scored higher than 31% on brainwashworthy

You scored higher than 39% on antitolerant

blah... - 01:49 p.m.

_-_ Our phonebill billed us on something we didn't ordered, so I called today to have it cancelled. The first time I called, the agent at customer service cancelled it and gave me a new amount due. Then after I got off the phone and called Rogers (for something else), I looked over the bill again and realise that they double billed us on this thing that we didn't ordered! So I called customer service again and have them cancel this extra (actually the first) charge. They say it is a 'one-month in advance' charge, and I was like 'yeah, you already charged it below, but it also appear above and is added in the total!', something to that extend. I don't know if the agent was not clear in explaining to me, or if I misunderstood. Coz at first he (the 2nd agent) said we would be credited on our next bill for just that 1 charge (which the 1st agent cancelled for us), and I was like, 'no, we are charged twice for this thing we didn't ordered and the 2 amounts should be taken off/credited together!' Then he said the charge cancelled by the first agent will be credited, but the other one is a one-month advance charge from june to july and I said, 'yea, but we didn't order this thing in the first place so why do we have to pay for that?' He also said that this may have happened b/c someone in the household accidentally clicked on a popup and ordered without knowing or something, all seeming to imply that we should be paying that 1st charge, and I replied saying that we shouldn't be paying for anything that no one in the house ordered! (As an aside, we hardly get much popup coz the majority uses FF here and only I use IE sometimes. So how could we accidently orderd/signed up for this is really beyond me. And how can this appear on our 'phone' bill? o.o B/c everything is on one bill now?) So anyway, I was arguing back and forth with the agent, saying that we were double charged, and at one point I asked to speak with the manager, and I think I got pretty unpleasant.. :o so finally the agent said, on the next bill, both charges will be credited and our phone bill will be back to our normal regular charge of just a land line + the services that we know we have.

This is to document what I did today, so when the next bill comes next month, I'll be watching! ò_ó

I seriously don't like to be mean, it leaves me feeling bleh... I get irritated VERY easily and quickly and if the agent would just DO AS I SAY COZ I'M RIGHT! answer my request after I've explained why that had to be done, then he won't get annoyed and I won't either. Bleh... :X I think I'm having a guilt trip b/c I had to be mean to get what I want, and I don't like that. But if I hadn't taken my stand, we'd be charged extra and taken advantage of, and I dislike that very much as well. *sigh* I understand that companies probably have policies and protocols regarding customers calling to remove services that are wrongfully charged, but why couldn't this resolve when I was asking and explaining nicely and straight-forwardly about it? Why does it have to take both sides getting semi-hostileannoyed to get it done? _-_ Is this how customer service people do business??

Anyway.. I'm sure there are nicer or more patient customer service rep out there, I just wish someone else made the calls today instead of me, coz they may be able the handle the situation better. Maybe this whole thing was just a big misunderstanding, but all I know is, I know what I think should happen (since I don't think it is wrong to ask for $$ back when we're charged wrongly?) and what I was hearing was not it, so I stay on the phone to get it sound right to me. o_o

That's why I don't like doing these kind of phonecalls. I have pretty lousy phone manners when I'm annoyed... As most people know, I'm generally nice, polite(relatively?), and mellow most of time, but if you're unpleasant to me, I can be 10x more unpleasant back. >:E I think I'm evil :P and someone needs to teach me how to be nicer! :o

Howl's Moving Castle - 04:02 a.m.

I had it written last night, but was too tired to post it. So here it is now.

OH, and WARNING: This will most definitely contain some Spoilers. Read on only if you want. And if this is on paper, it will have a warning LONG stamped on it. Now, run along and read, children. :)

---

Ok, here's the aforementioned Howl's Moving Castle thoughts entry. :P

First off, I like the movie quite a lot. There are times when I was a little confused at some of things that happened, but then, I'm always like that with movies, so that didn't prevent me from enjoying the movie at all.

My biggest peeve with the movie thou, is the voices of Sophie and Howl. Hers is a little too deep for me, think "old maid". I guess it is probably b/c of the British accent, but sometimes she just sounds kind of.. off. Especially among all the American accents around her. :T And it's also a little scratchy which makes me feel like she needs to cough.

And then there's Howl's voice. Nothing against Christian Bale as an actor, but please.. Disney should not have used him as Howl's voice. I expected something lighter, a playful, fun -- basically, bishounen -- voice. Because, frankly, his character is sort of bratty like that. However, with Howl's English voice, I keep thinking that he purposely deepens his voice so Howl would appear more like a guy.. since his behaviours do sometimes raise the question of whether or not he's a fruit. >.> I mean, the cry (loosely quoting) "There's no use in living if I can't be beautiful!", and then proceeds to get depressed and turns into goo doesn't help the 'not ghey' argument at all... >.> But enough about that, the point is, that voice just simply does not suit Howl's look. Especially the heavy sighs... >.> It was sort of creepy. The only time I think the voice is okay is when he's hyperventilating about his hair. And that's it. >.>

I recall reading someone's review that they didn't like Calcifer's voice. And since at the time when I saw the movie, I didn't have previous knowledge of Calcifer's voice in Japanese, I was able to go into the theatre with no comparison. And I came out really liking how Bill Crystal did it. I think he voice-acted the role really well, brought in the comic relief when appropriate, some wise-cracking here and there, but still be what Calcifer ultimately is, a cute little fire demon.

As for the other characters, I have no complain whatsoever. It's just the main leads that I have problems with. I did manage to get used to Sophie's voice by the end of the movie, but I'd still prefer a girlier voice that fits the character's 18 years of age. And while I'm at it, Howl's only in his early twenties. So see? With the way he looks in the movie, his English voice totally doesn't suit.

And seeing that I'm not so happy with the leads' voices, I got curious and managed to find myself a sub. I didn't watch the whole thing yet, but from the little bit I've seen, I have nothing but praises for Howl's voice actor. KimuTaku (yes, the SMAP guy :D) was perfect! His voice is exactly how I think Howl's voice should be. Now that's a bishounen voice! :D As for Sophie's, hers is still sort of deep, but it isn't distractingly deep like the English one is, so I am actually okay with that. Calcifer's however, now I finally understand why people could have problems with Billy Crystal's voice. The JP one is a kiddish cute voice. I don't know how to describe it, but the feel of it is very different from the English portrayal. Despite that, I think both acts are good and fine thou. You'll just find the JP one is more fitting to the stuffed toy-ish look Calcifer has in the movie.

Moving along to the story. Yes, I can see there are plot holes, and that there are things unexplained. But, I don't think it takes anything away from the movie experience. My initial thought to justify these "boo-boos" are that this is a family film, made for kids and their families. People who are saying that this is step back from Miyazaki's films are, I think, expecting too much. Sometimes, animations doesn't have to be aimed/confined at a specific age group. To adults, they may feel the movie is being too vague and simplified the concept of 'war is bad', however, the way I look at it, is that it is just right for kids to comprehend this concept. The movie is not as serious as Miyazaki's previous films I would think. But that doesn't mean this is an indication that he's lost his touch or anything.. As a whole, the movie is quite light hearted, and I think everything is done simply, so whatever it is, is easier for the audience to grasp.

Moreover, with the colourful settings, the moving castle, talking demons, magic and fantasy, this is just something that kids would get into. (I mean, just look at Harry Potter. >.>) And I think, this movie has just the same elements as those Disney animated films back in the days, albeit a whee bit more serious and complex. With my justification, I can totally see why this movie broke records in Japan. I like the fairy tale-esque and easy to follow storyline. Even thou I may not get why certain things occur, I think the movie was fun enough to see, and the ending sweet enough that the kids probably won't care or notice the boo-boos. And if they notice, like I do, they'll probably do what I do, which is go and read the original book. I can't help but think this is an ulterior motive on the filmmaker's part. :P As for why Sophie's changes her state as time comes and goes, I think it is deliberately unexplained so we can think of the answers ourselves. It probably has to do with her mental state, her confidence and trust and love or what not. But I'm too non-observant to know the answer. :P

Because I've read the book already, I can say that, a lot in the movie is made up to fit the beginning and the end. :P The essential bits of the story are in tact, and so are some basics of the characters. But otherwise, the movie is probably an alternate universe of the book. Doesn't mean one is better than the other thou, I think they're both good and worthy of being read and watched. The thing is, there is no way you can explain the events of the movie with the events in the book, and vice versa. If I remember correctly, without spoiling anything, the main plot in the book becomes a very subtle subplot in the movie. And because this is an adaptation of the book, the story in the movie took pieces of the book, reworked, skipped, shuffled and added bits to form a complete story. This newly constructed story works thou, hence I like both movie and book. They are both cute stories that leave me happy in the end. And that's good enough for me. Lalala :D The level of romance are kept the same thou, I think. If you feel nothing much happen in the movie in that department, chances are you'll feel the same from the book as well. And I also leave both book and movie with a big "Huh?" regarding Howl. :PP But I'm sure there's something from him. There must be!! :PP Sophie's is revealed a whee bit, but there's really not a lot. It is just so very very subtle and (very slowly) gradual, but I guess you just have to re-read and think it through. And that suits me just fine. :D

Gaahh, this entry is long. >_< Are y'all dizzy from reading this looong bunch of small print? To save you from further damages to the eyes, I'll end with point forms of things I want to say but don't want to elaborate much on:
- I do like Howl, more when he's dark haired, coz he looks better that way. His red head is cute too. But when he's blond, he sometimes looks scary, or odd.
- the real identity of the scarecrow in the movie does look better XD
- this movie feels very much like those old saturday/sunday(?) morning cartoons I watched when I was a kid. :P I miss those simple and fun kiddy animes (which are often done in Miyazaki-ish style). :P OMG, I sooo want to re-watch Anne of Green Gables, and have a chance to watch Daddy-Long-Legs! *_* The Daddy-Long-Legs song!!! *_*
- I don't get why Sophie's hair stays grey in the movie
- I'm confused about the war, on who's fighting who, and what's Howl's role in it
- My favourite things of the movie is the moving castle, it's just cool! And Calcifer, coz it's cute with its circular dotted eyes. :D Howl's room I also like, so colourful! And yes, I also like Howl, despite him looking girly when in blond. :D Sophie is funny too, a likeable character, very much like me. I won't say in what aspect we're alike. Mwhaha. :P

And there you have it folks. Thank you for reading la~ :P

Ha-ri Po-ta - 09:23 p.m.

Wheee~ I know who's HBP :O And who dies. :P And I also know very generally what happened. But I guess most moderate paced HPatHBP readers are still reading the book (or not?), so I won't spoil y'all. How did I find out? There's an article on the newspaper today talking all about it. So, since I was quite bored at the time, I went ahead and read it. The reporter who wrote that article sure read fast.... :O

Anyway, HMC post will come up soon, since I finished the book a few days ago. :) Byee~

money grabbing wireless providers... - 02:34 p.m.

So yes, as the title says.. Rogers is out for your money in every way possible. >.> For a while now I am not satisfied with the way they list (in the bill) how I use my minutes on my cellphone, which is just a total sum of minutes used on weekdays and weekends. So I finally make up my mind to call them to see if they could switch it back to way it was, before I cancelled my previous plan with the old phone. But, as it turns out, nowadays Rogers charges an additional 3$ for call by call details to small plan (ie: low paying) customers like me. -_-; The only way to get the call by call details, the agent says, is to subscribe to online billing.. I may just consider doing that, after I discuss it with mom. Might as well save some trees too. I'm just worried that I may forget to look at the bill and pay sometime down the road. :X

Anyway, that's my peeve of the day. Oh, and I still don't like the helpline's "speech system"... can't they give us an option to either go button pushing or speaking??? I just want to speak to a REAL person, not a personified MACHINE!! _-_;;

heatwave - 03:51 p.m.

arrgh... >_< my lappie was on standby mode while I was out of the house, so naturally i wouldn't think the touchpad area would become warm.. but! for reasons I don't know, when i came back, it is just as warm as if i was using it non-stop for a few hours. :X

it's hot inside the house already, so i can't bring myself to turn on anymore heat emitting appliances (like the big computer), and judging from how fast the lappie got heat up, i might have to limit my use of the lappie too.

the only place cool at this kind of weather is the basement, and even the ground floor is much better than upstairs... >.> Outside is many times worse than inside. the wind is like having a hair dryer blowing at you. :X I wonder when the weather will cool down a bit... there was a small thunderstorm last week, around the same time as now, but there doesn't seem to be another one this week :( this makes me so not want to go outside today... but i have to, coz it's monday... :/

there is a way to cool down, which is to go to the library. the air-con there is in full force. you can stay there from opening to closing and never have to break a sweat. maybe i should consider doing that.. just sitting there and read. then i wouldn't be bothered by the heat in the house or the heat outside. but oOOhhh.. speaking of sitting and reading.. I wonder if chapters has full air-con on too.... *ponders ponders* :P the library doesn't have the books i want to read yet... :p

anyway, gotta run!

Seigaku
Your whole life someone has always been cheering
you on. Tennis is cool, and you are actually
pretty nifty (if not downright quirky) Win with

because tennis is life and life is sweet. (Just
don't drink the juice...)

Which Prince of Tennis team do you belong on?
brought to you by Quizilla

Hmm... Seigaku and Hyotei seem to have the most normal looking uniforms.. Althou, St. Rudolph's is pretty cute too. But I think I'd like a Fudomine one instead.... >.> Sorry that you didn't like the one you got.. but at least it has your favourite colour!

Oh, and that description? Totally doesn't fit me. But I don't mind being in the Seigaku team! XD Tezuka is hawt *_* And one of my favourite seiyuus plays his voice. :P

And darn I didn't get Mamoru in this :( He's like my first anime crush. XDDD Hehe

spider - 01:08 a.m.

A reeeally tiny spider just fell from my head onto the bed, just when I was about to sit... It think it was probaby just hanging there and I banged into it. And since the position of it is really close to where my head would be if I were sleeping... it brings to question that how many tiny little spiders like that have ever hang from or crawl on the ceiling... and how many of them have ever reached me while I'm asleep??? :O

Anyway, just watched In Good Company, and it's pretty good. Kind of along the lines of About a Boy, in terms of what I think of the movie. It's an unusual Hollywood film I suppose. They should make more movies like these I think, even thou it isn't big money making blockbuster. It has substance and deals with life and people in a realistic way. I think I like it because it shows that mundane people's story and the working class worries and problems can be interesting too.

oh hee.. - 12:17 a.m.

Isn't it? Haha, the Picard song does get annoying after a while thou. :P

And good to hear Iruka isn't a bad choice :D

As for DNAngel, no, I haven't been following it since the anime came out. But I think it's sort of on hiatus right now, b/c I haven't seen new scanlations of it in my usual Chinese bbs for quite some time. And on the odd occasions that I visit Asuka's site, I haven't come across any announcements that it would be on the magazine. The only thing that I remembered seeing sometimes are a double header furoku of DNAngel and Lagoon Engine. But you never know, it might come back some day.

As for your other questions about a new character, I actually don't know of it, but I'm not surprised thou. Coz for some reasons I seem to recall that there's this mysterious character/being at the end of a volume that I haven't yet looked at in its entirety. So it is very possible that what you've seen is a new character. I just personally don't know anything about him/her thou. It's a him right?

And hey! Don't diss the bus tour. How else would you go around several states in four days and still keep your travel cost under 200$ huh?? :PPPP And nobody (not just you) knew about it coz I didn't say anything :P. Plus it was rather last minute when we booked the thing. So I thought, might as well surprise y'all when I come back. :P

following someone else's footstep - 03:37 p.m.

here's my naruto labu-compatibility chara:
NarutoFever.com Love Compatibility Test

At first I got someone weird, which I've never heard of, then I played around with my alternative answers, which are still quite me, and I kept ending up with Iruka, so... it's fate! XD Althou, since I know next to nothing but some character names in Naruto. Is Iruka a good one?

My fight skills test is as follows:
Speed: 3 / Stamina: 3 / Seal: 3
Ninjutsu: 4 / Taijutsu: 3 / Genjutsu: 2 / Intelligence: 5 / Strength: 2
I think this is lying... coz there's no way my intelligence can be a 5... >.>

And I gather that you've been reading a lot of Naruto lately? How is it? Interesting? While you're reading shounen... read Bleach and tell me if it's good. :D

no Howl's Moving Castle yet... - 03:19 p.m.

I've decided to wait until I've read the book to talk about Howl's Moving Castle the movie.. :D But, do go see it in the theatre. :D

Instead, here's my vacation report, it doesn't have pictures but they are up.. somewhere, I'll give the link out privately.

That covers everything I want to say for this post I think. Except that I was exhausted and was making up for lost sleep and energy for the last 2 days. And now off I go to do some reading~ chao~

Someone says kuu?
kuu is obviously a creature born sometime ago. Exact date of creation will forever remain unknown for the unknowing. kuu itself deems this unnecessary information for the prying public. It does have a gender, but that is not necessary to know as well.

What this writer can tell you is, it has an alter ego who works for CocaCola over here. Its nature is rather mean, but does pretend to be nice most of the time. It is made of water, is blue, and has orange spots, just like its alter ego. Oh, it's also short and fat with a big head.

Is it smart? No, but it'd like to be. As told in the space before this, it likes colours and pretty things, but dislikes school and mess. Current express priorities are to clean its room and do well in school, just like all responsible beings around here.

kuu is not reachable for comments by any normal means, unless you have previous knowledge of its other selves/alter egos.

The "hot?" guy above and beside is Wanibuchi Takami from Matsumoto Tomo sensei's current manga Bijo ga Yajuu (in English, Beauty is the Beast). Not a very well known manga, but the mangaka is better known among English manga fandom for her previous manga, a 8 volume series called Kiss. There is an excellent fansite over here dedicated to her works.

The guy above has a nickname, Wanichin, which roughly means alligator-chin. Though this picture probably doesn't do it justice, I do think this guy is pretty hot, by manga standard. :D It's the way he is drawn! *o* He's cool and a bit of an outcast in the dorm he stays in (because almost everyone in the dorm are jealous that he's so much cooler than them). They either (try to :P) taunt him or avoid him altogether. But he's actually a good person who just doesn't care to correct how others see him. :P Anyway, he's hot! *.*

Bijo ga Yajuu is currently running at LaLa monthly magazine from Hakusensha. (But it looks to be ending soon; there is a climax on the LaLa Feb 2005 issue. Although, the "last chapter" words doesn't appear on the preview blurb.) So far, it is published up to vol.4 in Japanese, and vol.3 in Chinese.
