I just found out that the family next door, who've been friends of the family for years, their daughter was actually in the building at the time. She was on the 72nd floor of the second building when the first plane hit the other building. She just started running down the stairs and had gotten to around the 30th floor when the second plane hit. She just kept running and didn't stop till she'd gotten to her apartment. She's alright, apparently. I just can't believe somebody we actually knew was actually in the building.

Walking across campus this evening, there were students everywhere milling around listening to car radios and watching portable TVs for the news. It was kind of eerie.

Carlo remarked to me last night that people were just starting to forget that his birthday, September 11, was the same as Ferdinand Marcos (former Phillipine dictator, late husband of Imelda the shoe hag). But now September 11, 2001 is being called the new "date which will live in infamy".

Here's the annoying thing about CNN during these breaking stories.
CNN: Well, we don't really have any new information about this incident. So we're going to talk to Tom Clancy who wrote a book about something like this happening.
Tom Clancy: Hello. I wrote a book about something like this happening, but it kinda sucks when it happens in real life.
CNN: Thank you, Tom Clancy. Now we're going to talk my cousin's mother-in-law's hairdresser, Mary Lou. Mary Lou, what do you have to say about this?
Mary Lou: It really kinda sucks.

And so on and so forth.

Holy fuck.

Remind me never to visit any major American landmarks again. For that matter, remind me never to get on an airplane again. Jesus, there were people in there.

This cover art is quite disturbing. Apart from the general dorkiness of the art, Carolinus looks like a goddamn Keebler elf. Plus, he's wearing purple. This is not like Snape wearing orange or Roger Smith wearing a nice pastel blue. I mean, sure, those would be pretty grotesque; but Carolinus is the Green Wizard. It just doesn't freaking make sense for him to wear purple. I suppose he could have just gotten tired of green; but there's not much sense in calling yourself something like "The Green Wizard" if you anticipate even the slightest possibility that you may someday get tired of green.

At any rate, it's nice to know that Flight of Dragons is still in print. I just hope they come out with a DVD.

How come nobody ever told me that Gaiman is pronounced "Gay-man" and not "Guy-man"? O_O At any rate, last night I went to a party at Carlo's friend's house, and I got to watch a video of Neil Gaiman reading stuff. He read "Chivalry" and "The Price" and some short poem-y things. It doesn't necessarily follow that someone who can write well can also speak well; a fact I myself can attest to. But Gaiman read things absolutely freaking brilliantly. My ambition in life now is to meet Neil Gaiman in person. In fact, I think I'm going to start a new religion: Gaimanism. Anyone wanna be acolytes? *__*

Anyway, that was last night; and tonight we went to lunch and then finally watched A.I. Is A.I. also called "Artificial Intelligence" in the States, or did they only call it that here because they figured Asians were dumb and wouldn't know what "A.I." stands for? O_o Anyway, I did like the movie; I don't get why people would say it's a terrible movie. And I suspect that Spielburg was not channeling Kubrick so much as Tezuka. ^o^ (Some real Astroboy moments there.) And Teddy was COOL.

(current music: Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. Various songs from this have been running through my head all week.)

...It seems somehow wrong that AXN is showing Joan of Arc on this week's "Friday Babes in Action".

Anyway, I'm done with my Philosophy oral exam, thank God. @_@ Not that that's the last of my work, but that's the one that was really making me nervous.

Am I missing something? That makes two Japanese HP fanart pages where I've seen Salazar Slytherin drawn as a girl. Weeeeeird. Though I do admit that it would be kind of cool if Slytherin were a woman.

We finally watched a little of the first Big O DVD today. So cleaaaaaarrrr... *_______* Carlo would burst out laughing whenever that voice at the beginning would say "CAST IN THE NAME OF GOD... YE NOT GUILTY". And of course, you gotta love the original opening theme. "Kyast in za nem of God! Ye notta guilty! We have came to team! Big OOOOOOO!" It's a catchy tune. ^__^ (And no, I'm not being sarcastic!) My only complaint is that in the English dub track, they still say "Megadeuce" instead of "Megadeus". >_<

Oh geez, I completely forgot to mention that we suddenly have a DVD player. Actually, what we have is a 5-disc DVD changer, with 5.1 Surround Sound speakers. :D It was GIVEN to my Mom. O_O Carlo set it up and everything, and now we have nice sound when playing DVDs.

I shot the sheriff!
But I did not shoot the deputy!

We had our group presentation in Children's Lit class on Holes by Louis Sachar -- a book I highly recommend, though don't ask me to tell you the plot to you, unless you've got an hour or two to spare. We had a roleplaying thing, and I played an outlaw named Kissin' Kate Barlow. Heh. I WAS Kissin' Kate Barlow. >:D Ah forget it, just read the book already.

All hail the Sea Hitler!

We saw a play of The Little Mermaid this afternoon. It managed to be rather substantially different both from the Disney version and the Hans Christian Andersen version. It was pretty cool, and the costuming and stage direction were excellent. But the weird thing is that the theater group that put it on are born again Christians, and so they played up the whole "soul" and "God" angle. O_O And we called the mer-king the Sea Hitler, because during his song number the fish and things seemed to be giving him the Nazi salute. ^^;;;;;

*Misato beer scream* YAKULT!!! Carlo got me Yakult at the grocery! I'm five years old again! Wheeeeee~!!

Yeah, Mom and Carlo came back home last Monday. They brought me tons of stuff (since I asked for tons of stuff ^^;;;): vols. 2-4 of Fruits Basket, vol. 1 of Gouhou Drug, vol. 2 of Chobits, the new Neil Gaiman novel American Gods, Ella Enchanted, the first Big O DVD... ooh, and another installment of that Hojo Tokimune magazine picture book thingy! :D I was severely disappointed by the utter lack of Tokiyori-sama pictures (even though he was long dead by that point in the series ^^;;); but there are some pretty neat pics of the other characters, including some really badass Darth Vader/Battousai-type Tokisuke shots. ^^ Maybe I'll scan them once we get to watching that tape of episodes Carlo's friend Jay taped for us.

In other news, I finally read Draco Dormiens. And I enjoyed it, except for the drawn-out melodramatic Dawson's Creek bits (apologies to fans of Dawson's Creek for the generalization, as I've yet to sit and watch a whole episode of the show). And I still don't get Harry/Hermione. Ick. And the role of Draco seemed to be being played by Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I read somewhere about the fiasco with Cassandra Claire using passages from different sources. I don't know too much about that; but I did spot at least three Blackadder quotes in there. I can't really blame the author, as I imagine the temptation to quote Blackadder can prove too great to resist. ^_^

Oh my goodness. Sheena, Queen of the Jungle is on. XD No, not that dumb TV series on AXN -- I mean that dumber, older, movie version. Blue-eyed blond white woman in a loincloth bikini romps around the African savannah, summoning her animal friends by clasping her hand to her forehead and assuming an expression of intense concentration. The absolute best part of this movie, however, is Sheena's pet "zebra". Apparently the producers of this movie had never flipped through a National Geographic magazine, or they would have known that there's a big difference between a zebra and a horse painted with black and white stripes. XDDDDD

*watches "romantic" scene with Sheena and love interest guy riding bareback across the plains on Sheena's "zebra"* Kyaha... this movie is just too priceless. ^0^

Dreams of Sakura X page

*reads latest Asuka update*

*dies*

*comes back to life and jumps up and down screaming*

I have to get this issue. If you have a copy of the October 2001 Asuka, send it to me. Right now. I will trade internal organs for it. Need a kidney? I got two of 'em. A liver? Hey, I can live for 16 whole hours without one! Or if you don't have the Asuka issue, a time machine for me to travel to the future and buy X vol. 17 will work just as well.

...ookay, with that rather morbid paragraph out of the way, let me just say YEAAAH!! I knew Sora-chan wouldn't die like that. ^.^ However, events now seem to lend weight to my theory that Arashi will be the one to die instead. O_O

Also, whod've thunk it... Kamui being the level-headed one? ^0^

Elaine drew a Snape. Elaine drew me a sexy bastard Snape gift!! *______* Eeeheeheeheeheeheehee! No, you can't see him, I'm keeping him all to MYSELF! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! >:D ... just until the next update, of course. It would be a crime to deprive the world of Snape, particularly Elaine's Snape. ^___^

So, once again, it's raining like anything, and I'm just sitting here at home vegetating, because classes have been cancelled. ^_^ God, I love rain. Of course, it sucks for people who have to commute home through flooded streets, or whose houses get flooded. But still, I can't help but love rain. ^^;;

I'm the one everybody's waiting for! Scream for me, a romantic modern hero! They need a hero, somebody they can look up to! Lupin Lupin Lupin Lupin the THIIIIIIRD!!! Lupin Lupin Lupin Lupin the THIIIIIIRD~!!! I'm a superhero! I'm a superhero! I'm a superhero! A hero of today! Everyone wishes they could be like me! Smart and cool, handsome, wealthy and so sexy! They need a hero, somebody who is just like me!

Oh god, I'm getting hyper. Yarrrgh! It's Yakult deprivation. I haven't had my Yakult fix for fifteen years, dammit~! Okay. Yakult is a drink that used to be readily available when I was younger. It's this overly sweet milk-like substance, which comes in a tiny plastic container with a foil cap. Each container was just about two gulps for me when I was five years old. I imagine if I tried now I could chug the whole thing in one go. But of course, the most important ingriedient of Yakult was the LACTOBACILLI SHIROTA STRAIN! XD

Nowadays I think you can buy things in the supermarket like Chamyto or whatever, that are basically pale imitations of the glory that was Yakult. Bah. Whither art thou, o noble Yakult deliveryman of my youth? *tearful salute*

Archive! Geh, my archiving is so random. I pretty much just keep on going until at some random point I go, "Whoop, page getting pretty long. Maybe I should archive." -_-;;

Anyway, Mom and Carlo left today for the States (or I should say they will be leaving; last I heard the plane was being fixed so they're stuck waiting in the airport. >XP ). They'll be gone for about a week, so my Lola is staying at our house 'till then.

For those who didn't know: "Lola" is not a proper name in the Philippines. It's what you call your grandmother. Which is why there are no girls here named "Lola" -- for the same reason no American would name their kid "Grandma". XD

And now, let's see if I can't do something mildly productive or at least play some Black and White. >:)

mini-F.I.Q:
Q: What is the title of this blog?
A: It's called Kurozukin, which means "black hood", and which was taken from the character Kurozukin Yakko, in the anime series Akazukin Chacha. Does that make any sense to you?

Q: How do I comment on something you wrote?
A: You can sign the guestbook here, or click on that little link under each entry.

Q: I came here searching for Hojo Tokimune! What gives?
A: Look through my archives; I ramble quite a bit about various episodes and characters. Plus, I scanned some pictures from the book, which you can find here.

Q: Why do you keep asking people to send you things?
A: This is done in jest, as my way of saying that I really, really want a certain item. Of course, if you really do want to send me one of these items, don't let me stop you. ^.^
