I'm posting this partly for my own amusement, but also partly because if anyone has anything to add to it, I'd be very interested in hearing it. It's a list of all the big/continuous/annoying flaws in Genesis X, which is in the process of being edited. So if you had a real problem with something (characterization, logic flaw, plot hole, general idiocy) and it's not on the list, feel free to let me know.
Genesis X: Big editorial problems
1. Brandon’s early characterization sucks ass.
2. Dorothy’s back story is mentioned about one time. If not less. It’s interesting, damn it.
3. Make Demaris’ position clear earlier on. Note: this would involve figuring out what it actually is.
4. Acetone is stupid. And so is making Adam have one eye if I can’t remember it for more than five paragraphs at a time.
5. Speaking of things I never remember, Adam also smokes, damn it.
6. Who is Tristan again? Oh, yeah, he’s that character who never says anything and may as well be named Plot Device.
7. I may be the only one who will ever notice this, but Bethany’s empathic abilities change all the time. One set of abilities, damn it all.
8. Brandon’s early characterization sucks. It bears mentioning twice.
9. Did I mention that I was avoiding writing my sociology final?
10. Shai’s healing powers are similar to Bethany’s.
11. Dorothy’s sunglasses and Evie’s backpack are in the same mystical place as Adam’s cigarettes.
12. Elena, Elena, Elena. I hate you. The characters hate you. This must be remedied.
13. James’ relationship with Max, while cute, worked better when this was a Gundam Wing fic. He loves this girl so much he’d kill to save her after meeting her four times?
Yeah, right.
14. And on second thought, if no one knows who Adam is, how did he get the name Dr. A.?
15. Not only might I get sued for the use of the word “mutation”, I should really figure out when to capitalize it and when not to. Same goes for team delta and the varying wings of the Institutes.
16. And really, what are the odds that Elena wouldn’t know her father had kicked the bucket?
17. Benjamin being an operative is silly. He’s three weeks old and knows how to hack? Yeah, almost.
18. Hey, look at Evan fall out of the story completely. And honestly, what are the odds he would have let Bethany go with Adam in the first place?
19. Really, the most basic flaw in the entire story is why the *fuck* did Demaris leave Adam alive when he had killed his wife and kidnapped his child? That’s breaking all
sorts of Evil Overlord rules, and Demaris is smarter than that.
20. You’d think at some point I would’ve put in interaction between Evie and Max, since they’re sort of sisters, but no.
21. There’s not much I can do about it, but all the Institute raids would be so much cooler if this was a movie.
22. Shai’s backstory is kind of sketchy. I mean, he lived on the streets for years, but other than his magical ability to hotwire cars when convenient, this never comes up. Same goes for Evie. Bad things happened to her, yet it’s never revealed what any of them are.
23. Brandon’s early characterization isn’t the only one that sucks. Benjamin could use some real work in the beginning, too.
24. Come to think of it, the best way to make Benjamin realistic would be to make him not be a clone. Man, would that ever be fucked up, heh. But I don’t think it would work.
25. .....Interesting... James’ dead sibling changes gender.
26. Hey, Brandon can hotwire cars too. Why not?

I'm having a ridiculously productive day. I mean, really. Since I got home at about two, I have cleaned my room (except for a couple stacks of papers or things that need to be brought elsewhere), done my laundry (though now I have wet clothes hanging everywhere because the dryers chose to suck today), put my laundry away (that almost never happens the same day I do it), done the fic site update, and answered most of my email. Except for Kri and Hiki-chan. (Goooommmeeennn! The longer your emails are, the longer it takes me to get back to you! I suck.)
I'm beginning to think about cleaning out my fridge and doing my homework while I'm on a roll. Hm... maybe I ought to do something with the stacks of paper, as well. ^_^

Juuuuust finished watching this week's Buffy. Hm, my thoughts... On the whole, a weird episode. Kennedy annoys me, but she's good for Willow, so I'll try to be a little more lenient. Spike's brain exploding is bad. I thought the Initiative was supposed to be burned down, but whatever. I felt really bad for Andrew, actually, which is strange because he usually annoys the crap out of me.
Amy lived. Surprise, surprise. Especially considering that she really needs to die, although I'll admit that over 3 years as a rat would screw up anybody.
GILES ISN'T DEAD!! YAY! YAAAAAYYY!!! ::glomps Giles::
But on second thought, if Giles isn't dead, that means we haven't had this season's major death yet. Which worries me.

So, the big news of the weekend is that Stained Glass Windows is finished. It's thirty-eight chapters long, and the remaining chapters will be posted in the next two or three updates. Yay for us! I shall now go throw us a party.
The other big news is that PMS + lack of about 350 dollars I thought I had + stress from classes = me having a hysterical crying jag nearly in front of my advisor, which was bad. This is after I had a hysterical crying jag in the bank when I realized that no one had stolen the money, I had just spent it all on gas over the course of my semester break.
So for all you people I was hoping to visit over break, if my parents don't decide to be benevolent, we may indeed be quite fucked.

I just have a basic problem with book titles like "Prevention of Homosexuality: Raising Healthy Children" and book descriptions that say things like "This testimony book details one man's journey through his childhood, the factors that led him into homosexuality and his ultimate journey to freedom."
.....no, really. Freedom. Gosh, guess all you gays and lesbians didn't know you were so constricted, didja? Better get to a Christian bookstore right away.

--Aforementioned choir has a high-functioning autistic person in it, and as hard as you try to be accepting, he drives you and every other person in the choir absolutely nuts.

--Two of your professors are dating, and give nearly identical assignments.

So, it's pretty much confirmed that Gary Oldman will be playing Sirius Black, and David Thewlis will be Professor Lupin. Mixed feelings over here. I respect Gary Oldman as an actor. Actually, I really like him. I think he can probably pull off the role. I've only ever seen Thewlis in Dragonheart, and I barely remember that movie, so there's not much I can say. Other than that I'm concerned over his cuteness quotient.
To make ourselves feel better, she and I hunted down some photos to see if we thought they could pull it off.
Gary Oldman, I think, is a yes:

Well, now that I have a few free minutes, I will do some random bloggage that I meant to when I got back.
Got to see Azumanga Daioh over break, thanks to Mark. (Mark, if you read this, you need to get a blog, k? That way we can all torment you.) Only the first eight episodes, but I loved it. It's so *cute* without being sappy or sugary. Okay, maybe a little sugary. Anyway, I love Sakaki-san, she's definitely my favorite. But I like Yomi as well. She sort of reminds me of me in high school. Well, except that I have smaller breasts. (And I bet you all wanted to know that, right?) The perverted teacher is SCARY, but the gym teacher and the English teacher (neither of which do I remember their names) are really funny. On the whole, good series, and I'd recommend it to anyone. Also, is it by the same people who did Fruits Basket? They struck me as *really* similar. Anyone know?
Rekindled my obsession with Harry Potter over break as well. June 21st!! XD XD She and I already pre-ordered it at BnN. Not gonna wait a damn minute to read it, nope nope nope! I hope Lupin's back. And that he doesn't die, because that would really suck. I also really want the third movie, and if they don't cast someone cute as Lupin and someone hot as Sirius, I'll go on strike.
Truthfully, I spent most of my vacation bumming around and not doing much, and it was *great*. But it's *freezing* here now, and I had to walk to and from the grocery today so I can move my fish back into their tank. They've been living in a cooler for five weeks, heh. But damn, it can't be any more than negative ten out there with wind chill. ::makes mental note to check once done blogging::
Let's see. Read lots of Anita Blake, since I got a bunch for Christmas. I'm trying to hook my brother on those. He likes Buffy, so I think he might get a kick out of them. Although Buffy has been rather strange lately. But hey, bloody Spike, what am I complaining about?
