How sad, my favorite LOTR spoofie's writer is going on vacation for 3 weeks...*snif*...the story about magic is starting to stagnate, and I wanna write a funny CLAMP story about pedophilia and sado-masochism...(don't stare, it's not polite). At least we've got new packs of those soft Cha rice cakes (yummy) and assorted Chinatown products. *sigh* Read this week's TIME magazine, they have an interesting article on another prehistoric human ancestor and some stem-cell stuff. If I express my own opinion people will prolly brick me, but I think unformed _cells_ simply are NOT human beings. If these cells have been discarded, great. If they have been produced especially for the pupose of saving people (people who have been alive, accomplishing things, mind you), great. Probably even better. I don't quite understand the "moralists" who preach against "taking innocent human lives". Well, your stupid denial and blindness to facts leaves suffering people who have contributed society to die while "saving" clumps of cells that were not torn from anyone; they were either discarded out of free will or produced. And these "moralists" are the same who would overrun the world with humanity and associated problems, disregarding the actual usefulness of this overwhelming population and merely insisting that "they are God's" or some such religious dogma. Face it; reality is more vital than religion, and despite what you think, it has been alive longer. Before your gods and worshippers there was survival, talent, instinct. And now, when the world is dawning to the realization that we could destroy ourselves, it's pointless to cling to futile religion as saviour.

I _knew_ they weren't going to cooperate from the moment that they insisted on falling down my nose. *growls*
The story about magic in a "corrupted" world is going fine, I expect to hit page fifteen today, at least. Hoo, if I finish it that would be great. I have the next few pages in my head but given my, ahem, roundabout style I probably will go way off-topic and then end up in a dead end with vicious plot robbers at my heels. *sigh* The world of a freelancer must be a hard one. Hmph. The ISP at home has some demented problem and so I am now forced to update at the _library_, for god's sakes. *Sheesh*
Summer boredom is finally settling in...ugh. I went to an used-book store a couple days back and bought 3 books for $8...good deal eh? A Tanith Lee hardback, The Changeling Sea, and The Sign of Four(Sherlock Holmes obsession, you understand). So I was happy. That was the day of the six-hour wait in the INS waiting room, ugh, and the day that the DSL decided to quit cooperating.
Now that the ranting is finished, I thank god for the library's great consideration in providing us with these computers. *bows reverently*

Ugh, what awful weather. *rubs forehead* And the novel is still sitting placid-as-a-duck in the annals of the computer's hard disk. Ah, the drama. Will I ever touch the file again with my pointer-thingie? Will it ever be complete? Will it ever be even READABLE? The suspense continues...I've finished Faces Under Water already...compared to GWTW it's nothing. Besides, I'd already read it once. Good stuff, genuine Lee material, I think. That Darkness, I one was a mite too scary for me, heh. Still patiently waiting for Ms. LeGuin's publishers to churn out her new Earthsea novel, On the Other Wind or something. And Lirael remains absconded in the recesses of some horribly posh bookstore shelf. Damn hardcovers. *coughs* Excuse the profanity. Went around checking on some random Harry Potter sites (the imaginations of some of those slash writers are scary...who am I to talk?) and discovered out of sheer accident a vast underground Les Miserablés fanfic archive. *shivers* That's one book I'm scared of. *shivers again*
I feel like a duck. They should rename it to "duck days of summer"...feeling a bit bloated with the laxness and all. Sweating under the feathers. And now begoggled like Mousse, ha. Hm. That was a nice and poorly written schpiel yesterday, huh?...-_-()...what a stuffy day. Perhaps it shall progress as the day goes on. Hopefully so. I was going to muse on the possible ending of X here but I don't feel like doing another big long thing. (Not that yesterday's was particularly big or long, though.) Ah, what the heck...
If anyone recollects, on the very first illustrated page of the X1 tankubon, there is a series of shots of a desert-like city--meaning that it's basically a devastated city, with the buildings sticking out of the sand-like debris, large metal things, large concrete things, etc. We see a bunch of people in what appear to be capes of some sort, and nice teaser shots of whom I take to be Arashi and Subaru. (You know, the familiar imagery of the caped mysterious people...*shudders*) Then we see a mega-close-up of someone's (*cough* I wonder whose)mouth. He is saying with a smirk, "Let me kill him." Then begins the actual tankubon. Now unless CLAMP is seriously deranged and is going to change this shot of the future (?), it seems as though this is Kamui, and he's talking about Fuuma (?). Well well, this is certainly unexpected. Can it be that eventually Kamui turns evil? Or is this supposed to be one of those symbolic representations of Kamui as his evil side as well as his good? (@_@() how confusing)
Also, we can be sure that the following characters are about as good as dead.
-Hinoto. No questions about it. Remeber the "vision" of herself being killed by a sad-looking Kamui?
-Sorata. Probably. I don't see how CLAMP could save him without damaging their "angsty and depressing" image.
-Kakyou. See above. *snif* Poor thing...
Some more people I think will have to go, and why.
-Yuzuriha. To add to the angst factor, probably. *shrugs* I don't like her, can you tell?
-Arashi. Think Romeo and Juliet.
-Karen. She has to be cried for.
-Aoki. The family man killed for Karen or for his family or both...something like that...-_-()
I doubt that anyone could say anything about the Kamuis. Hopefully the end won't be anything like the movie's. Considering that the plotlines thus far are so dissimilar, and that CLAMP (I think) has remarked that the ending of the manga will be nothing like the movie's, there is some slim hope for their survival. And as for Subaru...he's bound to pop up later and kill himself. I know it. *sobs*
*blowing nose* Okay, now that I'm good and depressed, let's go read RG Veda over again. *breaks out in tears* How could they kill Ryu-ou?! and Kujaku too!!...

I read somewhere a few days ago that CLAMP is indicating that X will end interestingly...I suppose that this is their oh-so-subtle way of playing with their readers' minds. After finishing RG Veda, I see more and more similarities--parallels, really--between the two works. Both involve the mindlessly devoted "protection" of "one who will kill you" by a "strong and silent" person/people (i.e, the protection of Ashura by Yasha-ou and the protection (consciously or not) of Fuuma by Kamui and vice versa). Themes of violent pasts (and presents and futures, for that matter)dominate both of these manga. Ashura, obviously, is the representative of Kamui. There's the bleedin' gorgeous "black" Ashura (Fuuma, duh) and the cutesy, angsty, and sweet protective kodomo Ashura. There are prophets, stargazers v.s. dreamseers; there is the inevitable killing off of the "good" protagonist's friends by the "bad" side of his psyche.
However, this isn't to say that these two works are _exactly_ alike or anything. Gods no. For one, RG Veda is a good deal shorter and more to-the-point...*cough*...
as much as I love X, the first eight or nine volumes were filled with gorgeous art but little plot movement. And recently, the Asuka installments seem to be diminishing in length if not in beauty. *sighs* What's the matter, CLAMP? I want the good stuff!
