anime!

DN Angel is out! *happy dance* I've waiting for it for so long~! Also am addicted to Chronicles of the Twelve Kindgoms. I really really want to get the novels but it's all in really hard Japanese (the kanji! *sqeak of horror!*). The protaganist is this 16yr-old Yukino-wannabe weenie chick. A strange man in medieval chinese clothes comes to her classroom one day and pledges eternal obedience to her. Who wouldn't want that?! Anyway she freaks and gets attacked by monsters. The man brings her (and accidently 2 of her friends) back to his world but they lose contact with him along the way. They then need to survive in a world circa feudal age (war, famine, monsters, etc.) where all of them except the main character know the language. It's a pretty cool story and is much more realistic than Fushigi Yuugi even though the people, animals, and monsters of this world are born from fruits on trees. The storyline involves the 12 countries in this world and each country is ruled by the Emperor. Each country also has a Kirin - a magical unicorn-like beast that selects the country's Emperor and can control certain monsters. The anime itself only covers the first 3 arcs in the novels and I'm dying to see the end of one particular story that was brought up in the 2nd arc but never finished >.< If anyone knows the ending to the story of Taiki and the Emperor of Tai, please tell me! I think I'll go to Sasuga and order it anyway...maybe someone who is fluent in Chinese can help me on this.
So Anime Boston is having its first convention in 2 weeks! Tetchan, Sunchan, wanna visit for that? I want to visit people too, so I wonder what's a good time for that? Exclusing exam periods and all...
I'm still very amused by Bell-chan's orange-colored hair. Her head's on fire! Tee hee ^.^
Ahoy matey!

One Piece Character Quiz~! I'm obsessed with the One Piece manga now.
ooh~ new videos at the end of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix! Must see! Must see! There's some speculation as to whether or not there will be a sequel and who would be in it. Sora may or may not be in it. Micky Mouse definitely is though. Are those Heartless talking to each other? Their eyes are all glowy and stuff. In other gaming news: still stuck in the same place in Xenosaga - stupid regular enemies are too hard! It's not even a boss! Although I did sit there for over an hour fighting this ugly guy with a bad haircut and a flaming sword. My eyes *hurt* after that and it's not because of staring at the TV.
Arr...my result was Arlong....>.<
Did lots of eating out lately. Brazilian BBQ is one of the best things on the planet! Waiters have a sword with loads of meat stuck onto it and they stab the sword point-first into your table and cut off slices for ya. Well, I wish they would stab those things into the table - that would be too cool for swords o meat flying out of the kitchen hitting your table top, but we're in a civilized culture so the waiters are nice enough to neatly rest the points on a block and cut away at the carbonized flesh.
speaking of which - we were talking about road kill over dinner. There's states where you can go pick up road kill that were freshly scraped off the pavement for your meal. There's even a thing called a "Road Kill Diner." Yum. I wonder what they serve - I mean, venison is one thing, but how about squirrels and skunks? The poor critters....
*burp*

Excuse me! I just ate a cookie monster. ^.^ Stole the Knapp monkey earlier this week and the Knappers stole both the monkey and Sally! This was after a day or two of not noticing the monkey was gone. The missing Sally of course was immediately noticed and rescued.
Good Lord! Check out this weirdass Flash movie. If you don't know Japanese, don't worry, it's more than odd enough to watch. And I don't really want to know what's written on some of their bodies >.<
Another funny site http://mywebpages.comcast.net/wlee1433/emergency.html makes fun of the emergency signs on the US getting ready for a terrorist attack site. it's priceless! Really, as if I'm going to listen to the gov's pointless scare tactics. Oh, and has everyone heard about the change in name for "french fries" to "freedom fries". Such stupidity...as if it would make any difference especially since French fries weren't even created in France! Why alienate the French? And Hollywood believes that discrimination in any form no longer exists.....bah, what do movie people know. The news media has to get more objective about reporting events. It sucks to listen to propaganda.
Saw Final Destination 2. Like I expected, it sucked but was much better than the first movie. Better pacing and more creative deaths. Ah, the bad B-movies, how I miss thee.
Krispy Kremes! Still don't know what all the hubbub is about. They're tasty but not that yummy-in-my-tummy-good. But then I only had the glazed kind.
Yo hou~

Miko-san, yup I'm in Boston, or rather Framingham. I got Tetchan's old job! Wow, your courses sound like so much fun! I wanna do something like that - maybe broadcasting ^.^
Tetchan, another COI side-story is up at Madamhydra's!!!!! She also re-did Chapter 6 but I really really want Chapter 8!!! When is she going to put that one up?!
As for you Bell-kun, NYAH! indeed. Were you the one who convinced her to buy that PS2 AND XenoSaga? I like the game ^-^ and it does have a very convoluted storyline. Have you gotten to the insane hour-long FMV yet? I gotta say this game is really fromt he Final Fantasy series. It's really hardhitting in terms of FMV after FMV - a lot of which really doesn't have to be made into CG at all. Otherwise KOS-MOS is too kewl. Oh, and stop traumatizing yourself and others with <"Chaos as a drag queen!" "ziggy mpreg fic!" "inter-species sex!" "gnosis!".> I can believe Chaos as a drag queen and KOS-MOS and Ziggy having cute widdle babies together but...but...ziggy mpreg?!! Um...what are fanfic authors doing to the poor game characters?
Oh yeah, Bell-kun, am glad you got to see Buffy. Ain't it great! I mainly liked the first season for the Xander and Willow fluffiness. Joss Whedon is great at almost incomprehensibly strange but good ROTFL jokes. Buffy needed her a$$ kicked for most of it. Now go watch the other 2 seasons that are out on DVD/video!
Sun-chan, what's up? you haven't posted in a bit. Too busy with your beau? =)
In other news: I wanna strangle my house-mate. Ever had that "I must kill Valley girl" vibe? She's not a Valley girl but is very very close. I'm still not sure how she got this far in life except for the fact that she's very outgoing and looks cute so people forgive her all the time. GRR.

Which Harry Potter character are you?
In Harry Potter books: did everyone know that the antagonist makes a cameo appearance in chapter 13 of every book?
- book 1: we find out about nicholas flamel and the sorcerer's stone.. also contains the convo between quirrell and snape
- book 2: we go into the diary.
- book 3: sirius gets into gryffindor tower
- book 4: moody. turning malfoy into a ferret.
And if anyone who doesn't have the collector's extended version of Fellowship of the Rings, the Cast Commentary is transcribed and available to take a gander at. The Hobbits are just too cute and amusing together!
And guess what? Inspired by the "tig" and strange cup game that Dom and Billy made up for Elijah here's Lord of the Cup. ^.^
THE VULTURE (1920)
Tuesday, February 25, 2003: 12:27 p.m.
Franz Kafka (1883-1924)
A vulture was hacking at my feet. It had already torn my boots and stockings to shreds, now it was hacking at the feet themselves. Again and again it struck at them, then circled several times restlessly round me, then returned to continue its work. A gentleman passed by, looked on for a while, then asked me why I suffered the vulture. "I'm helpless," I said. "When it came and began to attack me, I of course tried to drive it away, even to strangle it, but these animals are very strong, it was about to spring at my face, but I preferred to sacrifice my feet. Now they are almost torn to bits." "Fancy letting yourself be tortured like this!" said the gentleman. "One shot and that's the end of the vulture." "Really?" I said. "And would you do that?" "With pleasure," said the gentleman, "I've only got to go home and get my gun. Could you wait another half hour?" "I'm not sure about that," said I, and stood for a moment rigid with pain. Then I said: "Do try it in any case, please." "Very well," said the gentleman, "I'll be as quick as I can." During this conversation the vulture had been calmly listening, letting its eye rove between me and the gentleman. Now I realized that it had understood everything; it took wing, leaned far back to gain impetus, and then, like a javelin thrower, thrust its beak through my mouth, deep into me. Falling back, I was relieved to feel him drowning irretrievably in my blood, which was filling every depth, flooding every shore.
the microcosm of self - experiment one
Tuesday, February 25, 2003: 09:09 a.m.
When we dream, we dream of little things, small tiny inconsistensies we have found within the daily rhythm of life. Big things too. Stuff of nightmares and things that we take for granted combine and warp our very sense of self - within dreams and without. It's very hard to say what is real within one's self - as if you've forced yourself to act as if in theatre, showing what the world wants to see, all the while pitying yourself for all your faults behind your mask. But then you ask yourself - what is your mask made of? Its your own skin, so how could it not be a part of you if it wasn't there already?
I once had a dream - a dream that I was trying to open a lock. I struggled with its combination for the longest time, not really wondering why I was back in high school standing in front of the old ugly orange lockers again. In those days, we had brown, red and blue ones too, but the freshman orange lockers stuck out most in my mind. I had 2 out of the 3 numbers for the combination but couldn't remember the 3rd, nor the sequence they were in. However, I could easily figure it out with a couple of tries. I kept thinking about better ways to make a lock though. To make a lock with an easy to remember combo, one that was unique to each individual but was unbreakable. Suddenly, I struck gold. An idea burst into my mind about how to make a new lock independent of the old number system, one that utilizes time and pictures instead. A new lock that could revolutionize the lock industry! By this time, I knew I was dreaming so I strove to remember as much of this newfangled invention as much as possible, repeating it to myself numerous times to fixate it in my brain so when I woke up, I could jot it down. Alas, when I awoke, I remember having this flash of inspiration about a lock and not much more. In the dream I had all the mechanics and theory worked out. But now, in the waking state, nothing was forthcoming from the depths of my mind.
Conclusion: My subconscious is smarter than me.
Hillary was the guest of honor at a dinner at a swanky hotel where a friend of mine was working so she got me and a few other friends into the event. I wandered the hotel, lost in its maze-like design and finally found the bathroom. (Thru glass tubes, floating outdoor/indoor platforms) and when I exited the restroom door saw the world blow up. Saw raging fires, the whole floor blown away in explosions. I thought it was only the hotel but it was more widespread than that. Much more widespread - it was at least city-wide. In the destruction, my parents had perished (God forbid in real life!) and I was left with one older brother. Most of the people in the building were buried under the rubble and a fire was still going strong, lighting a frame pole that had crashed into the hotel, over the very dining table where I had last seen my friends.
It was surreal. And then those alive started shape-shifting. A family I was close to appeared - a family very similar to Ron's in the Harry Potter books, except for an additional older sister. All of whom could change into different types of multi-colored spotted sparrows. They took me in and began to show me how to live again.
Conclusion: Hotels are not what they appear to be.

Tetchan, whadday mean get Gangan? I buy too much already!
Sun-chan - pumpkin carriage? Did Hector make it himself? =P
And Miko-san, you came to Boston and didn't call me!!! Granted, I was away in NYC at the time but still! Caught in the blizzard too, aww!~ I almost got stuck in NYC myself but parents literally kicked me out the door after watching the forecast that Sunday evening.
Lots of stuff I wanna write down but I'm forgetting things. Like: FOTR soundtrack won a Grammy! coolness.
Hillary did come for the Alum Achiev Awards but couldn't get a ticket even tho they send it would be sent by campus mail. Buu. Oh well, got off work early and ran away before messy crowds and protests got underway. Anti-war and teach-ins scheduled for end of Feb and early March. Wow, the campus got political! As for the catfight on Community...yeah, it's been spreading to a lot of other conferences too.
Ok. Must do taxes. I will OVERCOME!! No tax form is going to beat me! Charge!
whoa, what hit me?

Saiyuki! What's the hell is going on?! - See link for scanlations of some chapters of the gaiden and regular series. Terrible terrible cliffhangers...
Went to NJ this weekend. Got to Atlantic City Friday nite and stayed until Sunday morning for the Jenny concert. Now Friday - early that day, the only bus that runs from NYC's Chinatown to Taj Mahal was speeding and overturned. 28 wounded, 2 dead, the only uninjured party was the bus driver (the only one who had a seatbelt on). The poor tourists on that bus were all from China. That incident took out all bus to NYC service and I just had to get to the Taj that nite. So my friends and I took the bus to the Trump instead and then taxied over to the Taj. For Sat. I gambled, slept, ate, and wandered the VIP club rooms. The view from the top floors of the Taj are spectaular! I wanted to go out onto the balcony on the 50th floor but they wouldn't let me!
Anyway, Sunday 1am was the concert and it lasted until 3:30am. None of the fans wanted to leave the concert hall. I admire Jenny - she's classy. She basically stayed there even though it was obvious that her voice was hurting her (she was still getting over a cold) and singing all these dang high note songs where you had to sing a note and hold it for a long long time. She stayed on stage until the vast majority of her fans stopped begging her to sing another song and decided to finally leave the area.
Man, it was a mob afterwards! Jenny had some CDs to sell at the concert and about half the crowd got up to rush the booth! I thought I heard the booth collapse from the onslaught! I didn't have a ticket to go back to NYC Sunday morning so we bribed one of the bus hostesses to let us onto her bus since she had extra seats available. We left at 5am and got back to NYC at 7am. Took bus back to Boston at 10am. *whew* That was exhausting!
I went through my Beanie collection for 30 minutes while I was at home....couldn't bring myself to get rid of them even though I sorely need the space. They're...just...too...cute... (these are the older Ty beanies - the ones that actually look cute and are not all weird tie-dye colors or fabrics). I still want a stuffed dog that looks like Ein (Cowboy Bebop).
ika ika ika pu!

Lord of the Rings as made by Hollywood. Something to cheer you up with =) I'm so glad the movies weren't made in Hollywood. Just be warned. Do. Not. look. at. Aragorn. or. Frodo. pictures. *shudder*
Oh! And I got my package from Bell-chan! She mailed in sometime in November or something and it finally got it by seamail! She came back before it even got here! Oh well, whee! ~Manga manga manga~
Ah life....with its ups and downs, and everything else. I was chatting with a friend last night and ... :
So what happened at work today?
Internet connection went down.
Do you have to take care of it?!
No...I deal with the aftermath...
The human trajedy.
Indeed.

Happy New Year everyone!
Last year - the year of the Horse, my lucky animal was a horse and I was born in the year of the Sheep/Goat (I'ld rather be a Sheep than Goat, but since I'm so stubborn, I guess either would work =p ). That year, my bro- a Snake, had a Monkey for his lucky animal and my dad who's a Horse, his lucky animal turned out to be a Goat. It's weird. I wonder what my lucky animal is this year?
Did anyone read that article on CNN about how this Year of the Goat was supposed to be bad for babies? I think they meant that most ppl had their children before the year hit and were avoiding giving birth this year. But then so many W. professors are still giving birth. Lyn's had his 2nd daughter late last year and Michael got his newly adopted daughter 2 weeks ago! Tetchan, call him up, and he can go on and on about Annika (new daughter), and China and of course, Emily. They're sooo cute! They look like twins! Annika is 10 months while Emily is 8 months.
Uh... about that What type of Warrior are you? quiz...Did most people get more than one answer? Cuz, I got 4...Does this tell you how conflicted I am? And I've started talking to my door.
My sphere is Knight (Know Loyalty and Respect), and my class is Arms Master (Pragmatic and Stout). I am an Advisor. Your great sense of ethics and honor, as well as your practical knowledge of the world, makes you an excellent advisor and confidant to the people who are respectful of your ways, and to whom you will show respect in return. Liu Bei, the well-meaning King of the ancient Shu kingdom in China, was not famous for his own accomplishments, but for the excellent quality of his generals, and the brilliance of his advisor of special repute, Zhuge Liang. What kind of Warrior are you?
My sphere is Ronin (Look for great Ambition and Success), and my class is Arms Master (Pragmatic and Stout). I am a Mercenary. Great strength that stands alone. You're strong enough in solving problems that you'd loan your skills out -- for a price. To be a Mercenary isn't necessarily to be a literal Soldier of Fortune, but it does mean that you have great practical knowledge of the world, and great ambition. And by applying both, you will climb the ladder of Renown to great personal triumph and glory. What kind of Warrior are you?
My sphere is Knight (Know Loyalty and Respect), and my class is Rogue (Precise and Unhindered). I am a Henchman. You know the value of respect, in every glorious, practical, and humble sense of the word. You know whom you respect. You know what it means to defend and uphold respect. Although the boss can and will call on anyone to get a job done, the boss knows he can call on you when there's a delicate situation, or when someone needs to get their hands dirty. You hold a special place in their heart for your willingness in this regard, as well as a special place in the toes of the people you might step on in securing the respect your boss deserves. What kind of Warrior are you?
My sphere is Ronin (Look for great Ambition and Success), and my class is Rogue (Precise and Unhindered). I am a Boss. A true executive. There's no two ways about it -- bosses like being bosses. Whether good or bad, they're good at taking charge, and the fact that they expect of their underlings nothing short of perfect efficiency secures their position at the top. What kind of Warrior are you?
*spelunk*
ah!

Oh yeah, another series I think everyone will like is Spiral - Bond of Inference. Kakkoi~ Similar to Detective Conan and Kindaichi in that it has a detective theme to the series but it's more about who's better at scheming and deduction in order to stay alive and in the game to discover the secret of the "Blade Children". Each episode is almost episodic with a "crime of the week" but they're all tied together pretty well. Eyes Rutherford is my fav bishie ^.^
And -- (drumroll please) there's no Weenie Chicks in this series! Wahoo! Down with weenie chicks! Madoka, the older sister-in-law of the main char in this series reminds me of EVA's Misato. And the love interest is spunky, overly cute and funny but not too annoying - that's an amazing combo~
*snarl*

Mwa ha ha ha ha! Has anyone heard of this series?
Puchi Puri Yoshi It's basically the plot of the PC game Princess Maker made into an anime! There's a slight twist but OMG,I just stared at the screen for the first half of the first ep and then laughed my ass off for the rest of it. Good grief, it even has the old hero and the demonic butler that raises the would-be princess.
In other anime series news, there's Wolf's Rain and Witch Hunter Robin. Tetchan, you are gonna love Wolf's Rain! It's about a futuristic society where humans have eaten up most of their natural resources and the cities of humans that survive are surrounded by what looks like permanent post-nuclear war winter. The humans themselves are divided into 2 main groups - the Nobles who have everything they desire, and the common folk. There is an old myth that the first human was born from a wolf. It is said that only the wolves had the power to reach Paradise but wolves as a species became extinct 200 years ago. Unbenownst to many, there are some residents of the city that are still wolves but are disguised as humans in order to survive. Throw in some the strong but (mostly) silent hero, stange scientists, mad Nobles, and more wolves, and you get this series. It's reminiscent of the artwork of FLCL combined with regular bishie style artwork. The only thing that bothers me is that one of the wolves remind me of Akio from Utena.... >.<
For fans of LOTR,
this pic is great! I've always wondered why only he could keep his hair perfect no matter what the situation was but some mysteries were not meant to be solved. Ninecompanions.net has some really fun stuff. Check it out!
Wanna see Hero! It's supposed to be the next Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon movie from China. All I can say right now without seeing it is: it'sss preetttyy. And the director is just too fond of the color red. Watch the promo trailers on the site =)
In other news, have been having weird dreams lately. A la RPG style. Now if only I could remember them...they would make great games. Damn, I think my subconscious is a lot smarter than me (and more creative).
There've been a lot of co-in-ki-dinks at work. I brought Sherlock Holmes with me to work cuz I have the pleasure of sitting in front of 3 computers while Windows installs for hours. The other staff working there told me she had just finished watching the Hound of the Baskervilles (BBC version) on tv the night before. Then we bonded over Sherlock for the next hour. =)
Ppl have been getting beta fish left and right. The one I saw today was HUGE and kinda scary cuz it was all albino-looking and fighty. Its veins were visible too.
Wish some profs would get a clue. I had to fix someone's computer weeks ago and changed the screen resolution since the program windows were going off the edge of screen. Prof was fine after I fixed it then, but called back this week complaining that the fix only worked for 2-3 days. I went back up to check and found that the prof's assistant was working on comp and didn't like screen resolution and icons looked too small so changed it back. And the prof didn't have a clue that THAT was her problem. It wasn't that my fix only worked temporarily, but the darn GIT changed it back!!!! ;_;
Ok, *whew* done with the spewage.
another twitch

I'm baaack~ Hey Sun-chan, how'd your first date with Hector go????
Back from almost becoming a frozen shishkabob over weekend. Went to NYC with Saa-chan who was kidnapped by her parents after we went to Kino and the Met. So I then visited Genghis Khan's relatives and poked through their wardrobe and watch a guy with a huge antelope on his head prance around. What ppl do in the name of fun...Oooh! Also caught up with Sun-chan to Tetchan! Suburban Diner it was and thank ye for the goodies! That was Saturday. As for Sunday, met with with other friends and had lunch and delicious Bubble Tea. The Tian Yun tea store is the best! Ranks with the Daisy Tea Time shoppe in the Super 88 food court area in Boston as well as the Saint Alps Tea House in Hong Kong and China - *yum* Why don't they have more good food places in ole Boston?!
Met Beza on the way back. Strangely enough her weekend mirrored mine exactly. Wonder if I have a doppleganger from Ethopia?
Now, of course, back the beloved topic of LOTR: I love Aragorn - he's my fav character but what is this result? Kingly Aragorn? I'ld settle for the dark handsome Ranger, but I'll take the kingdom too. Those are hard to come by these days =P
What Lord of the Rings Male and Mood Do You Desire? brought to you by Quizilla
Saturday, January 11, 2003: 10:32 p.m.
I found these hilarious -- this page and the little ditty below:
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I websurfed, weak and weary,
Over many a strange and spurious website of 'hot chicks galore',
While I clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning,
And my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour.
"'Tis not possible!" I muttered, "Give me back my cheap hardcore!"
Quoth the server, "404".

Gosh, I love that pic. Haldir...Bwahahahaaa
Have a brand new compie! I build it myself, and proud of it yessiree~ It's the inner geek coming out =)
Now, onwards with my plans for me old one.....mwa ha ha...

Monday, January 6, 2003: 07:01 p.m.
My car grew whiskers! Looks funny....should shave it off.
Lord of the Rings! Check out the Bagenders - it's a parody of how the Fellowship fare in modern times (btw, it's been updated Tetchan ^.^). It's soo hilarious~ It has the cutest little manga/comic strip section too.
Saw Chicago - good movie! I like Catherine Zeta-Jones in this one, she has much more room to act and is able to display her elegance and subtlety unlike in her other movies like Entrapment *shudder* Renee Zellweger,...well she's turned anorexic and I didn't even recognize her for the first 15 minutes or so. The finale does her a disservice by pairing her side by side with Zeta-Jones who has the professional flair of a theatrical star which the main actress lacks somewhat. I guess that's why they changed the script so the two actresses aren't on the same screen singing and dancing until the very end. =p All of the actors and actress did their own singing and dancing which I'm pretty impressed by. They were really good!
I'm fish-sitting! Not only do I get to take care of my roommate's Japanese fighting fish but I also get to take care of my co-worker's for the Christmas and New Year vacations. The joy! (now if only the fish had more personality...I mean they're slave-drivers! Its too cold - warm up the room! I'm hungry - Feed me! Yeesh.) I wanna pet that takes care of itself.
