Man, I used to be obsessed with this song (and its singer, but we won't get into that XD). For some reason I just felt like listening to it tonight-- maybe because I'm in a really sappy/hyper/hentai mood (yes, all three at once *grin*). So, yeah. The Verizon bill was luckily just a very startling false alarm-- apparently the lazy fucks forgot to switch over my calling plan to the one that had the nights and weekends minutes, then caught their mistake once it was too late. ><;;; Goddamn bastards scared the shit out of me XD
Other than that, all has been lovely in Keri-land. College kicks a serious amount of ass. Teachers who treat their students as adults... students who act like adults (or at least not like braindead morons)... and even, quite possibly, people like me! *gasp* (I saw a guy with a Homestar Runner t-shirt today. I almost died. XD) There's a sci-fi/fantasy club, which I'm hoping will contain some anime fans (no anime club though :_:). I haven't had a chance to really get to know anyone yet, but you know, it's been four days. o_O I'm kind of beginning to wish I had moved on campus, but eh, I might as well save money this year and look into it next year.

And I was having a good day, too. My Novels and Tales class that I was kind of dreading is going to be much better than I imagined; the professor is hilarious, the work appears to be very manageable, once again I'm overqualified in terms of my background in English courses (I guess my high school education was better than I thought it was), and the main book for the course just happens to be the book I did for my senior essay (Sense and Sensibility). Score.
Also, my Political Science professor is incredibly laid-back, grades on a curve, and is not too bad looking, either. ^_~ Philosophy is really the only class that might give me trouble... the professor seems a bit strict (doesn't grade on a curve, offers no extra credit and may give pop quizzes ><), but nothing compared to some of the bastards I had in high school, and I survived that. XD
So... yeah. Blargh. Fucking phone bill ruined my entire day. Not only the fact that I have to pay, but that I can't make long distance calls until this gets worked out, and I might have to go back to buying phone cards, which I really can't afford either. Wouldn't bother me so much if they hadn't lied... *growls*

But, Kim, Fuuma didn't kill Seishirou. His only role in that was to give Subaru the eye, because it was Seishirou's wish to fix Subaru's booboo (right? @_@). In Daisuke and Nataku's case, they really didn't have a choice... I just don't see how anyone can claim that Fuuma's blameless. That's kind of like saying if a mugger goes up to a guy and says "Give me all your money or I'll shoot you in the head," and the guy gives him the money, the mugger hasn't committed theft because the guy willingly gave him the money... ^^;;; It's the decision made at that split second that causes that Wish, and Fuuma's the one who necessitates the decision by putting the loved one in danger. So I don't buy the idea of unloading the blame off on everyone else for their self-destructive Wishes...
And where are you getting that Karen likes Fuuma? @_@ All she said was that he was probably sad about Nataku's death... and in all honesty I don't understand why she said that, because she was so angry at him before, and I don't really see her suddenly having a revelation and seeing Fuuma as the victim, but eh. Besides, she wants Kamui to try to bring the old Fuuma back... and you guys don't like that idea, so I'd think you'd be mad at her for that XD

Well, got my first day of college over with. I only had two classes today, but I think both of them will end up being pretty good. Math in Action looks as though it'll be terribly easy (I'm overqualified, even, seeing as most people in the class have only taken pre-calc, while I've taken actual calc x.x), which is good, because math makes my brain cry. We're studying methods of tallying votes at the moment, which is actually, gasp, somewhat interesting.
My other class today was Psychology of Ethnicity, and I think I'm going to love it. It's an Honors seminar, and appears to be full of my favorite kind of people: intelligent smartasses. XD And it looks like mostly a discussion class, which is good. Only one paper to write. :D
Tomorrow morning I have Novels and Tales, American Elections, and Philosophical Inquiry. I have the feeling Tuesdays and Thursdays are going to be my better days, but I could be wrong... we'll see how tomorrow goes.
As for the Asuka... two months? *sniffle* If people think the fandom's bitchy right now, just wait until they see us when we haven't had our X fix in two months... :D And there was no A/K comforting, I'm disappointed. :_: However, on the upside, Yuzu's comment about how "no one wants to die" helps prove my theory that Fuuma's not just some innocent wish-granter. He's got his own agenda in twisting their wishes so that they have no choice but to sacrifice themselves... see, I actually have a valid point backed up with clues from canon, I'm not just trying to be a bitch to the Fuuma fangirls. :P

I need a new layout, but I have absolutely no desire to go to the trouble of making one. *siiiigh* I'm feeling awfully apathetic and depressed... I just keep getting this feeling that I should be doing something, writing, making a layout, working on a site, anything... but it just seems like such a huge and impossible task, so I don't, and then I feel worse about it, and etc. etc.
Yes, I'm angsting. And I'll angst if I want to, 'cause it's my fucking blog. Anyone who doesn't like it can go away. ^_^
I'm hoping that once I have starting college over with, I'll shake off this funk I've been in for several weeks... There's no real reason for it, I've just been kind of snappy and oversensitive for a while now *sighs* And right now, it really isn't helping that every now and then it feels like someone is stabbing the left side of my head with a knife. ><;;;
This writing thing is really bothering me, though. I don't understand why I suddenly hate everything I write so much that I can't even stand to work on it... Is it really bad, or am I just aspiring to something I can't be just yet? I guess comparing myself to writers in their 20s or older is not really fair to me... but I want to create something memorable, something meaningful, something that's not utterly forgettable fluff that most people pass over because it's too obscure to interest them. If anyone else was writing the things I write, I'd love them and worship them, but since it's me, it is Not Good Enough. And I can't seem to be any better. *sigh*

Hmmm, running the columns on the X game site through Babelfish has produced some interesting results... Of course, Babelfish is always nearly incomprehensible, but I believe I've made some sense of it.
First, most importantly to me, I'm pretty sure Karen is an unlockable character, but Aoki, Satsuki and Kakyou are SOL. :_: But hey, one of them is better than nothing.
Second, most important to the rest of you, I think the newest "column" on the site implies that you can unlock alternate versions of Subaru and Seishirou. It gave me a bunch of garble after that, the only understandable part being that Seishirou's alternate form doesn't have sunglasses, and Subaru's has something to do with bandages; not sure if they're on or off, but there it is.
So, um, yay. Yay Karen-san. Still fuck you, Bandai, but a slightly less intense fuck you. Oh, and the next wallpaper is going to be Yuzuriha. Guess who better get their own wallpapers, or I'm going to eat Bandai's collective face? Mm-hmm.

Sorry about the not-so-frequent bloggage of late, guys. I'm trying to spend the last days of
my summer getting as much done as possible (read: getting as much sleep as possible and
spending the rest of the day watching DVDs/tapes, eating ramen, and playing videogames
till my brain rots).
So anyway... I've been thinking, and there's a question I'd like to ask all of you who read this
blog: What is the true purpose of blogging?
Easy, right? Either to be social with people or to discuss your life. Some people use their
blogs as a venting space for their problems, while others use them as a kind of universal
message board. And both are fine, right?
Seems that not everyone agrees. What I don't understand is, if, according to some people,
both reacting to others' opinions and discussing your life are egotistical and wrong, what are
we expected to do with our blogs, exactly? I'm not talking about anyone in particular;
perhaps recent events have inspired this entry, but I've seen this attitude quite a bit... the
attitude that people should be able to tell other people what they can and cannot say on their
own bits of webspace. I don't understand it. People have every right to share their opinions,
unless those opinions involve reacting to someone else's ideas or thoughts? You can't say
what you think of what someone said on their blog unless you're going to agree with them?
And if you had a bad day, you have to shut up about it, because someone reading your blog
might be offended? It's hypocritical to the extreme.
I like this fandom. Yes, CLAMP fans can be a bit over-the-top in their opinions and
discussions, but that's part of what makes it fun. Arguing is fun. I don't think that a lot of
people realize that what they see as "psychotic overreaction" is really just a chance to let off
some steam and have a good debate. Just look at the Sakura Board. No matter what you say
there, someone's going to disagree with it, and most likely are going to tell you exactly why
they do. And yet, somehow, we remain friends, and none of the regulars there have thrown
any diva fits about how not everyone agrees with every word they say. And truthfully,
without the different personalities, opinions and preferences on the board, things wouldn't be
half so interesting there. I guess I just don't see why people can't handle debate... even when
it does get more personal than it ought to, it's really nothing to lose sleep or make major
changes over.
And another thing; if one does not want to start/take part in arguments, one shouldn't say
things that they know will irritate people. If you can't take it, don't dish it out. The only
reason I say controversial things is that I know I can handle myself when someone fires back
at me. And I've certainly taken some flak for my dislike of the fan-favorite characters, but
I've also gotten a certain amount of respect for my ability to argue well and handle the
disagreements that do crop up. Being controversial for the sake of being controversial isn't
the nicest thing to do, but I'll admit to doing it myself at times. What bugs me is when people
do that, acheive the results they wanted (getting people riled up and annoyed), then bitch
about it. @_@ It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
So, if someone disagrees with what a person is saying, should they have to keep it to
themselves because in that person's little world, any sign of disapproval for their behavior is
considered an overreaction and unbelievably wrong? Blogging is a form of public speaking,
and everyone knows that if you're putting your opinions out there, not everyone is going to
worship every word that comes out of your mouth (or fingers). Some people may, but this
does not mean that you have the right to say everyone who doesn't is psychotic and full of
themselves. Particularly if you say something for the express purpose of pissing people
off! You cannot do that and then portray yourself as the victim and/or paint yourself as
better than the teeming masses who dare to react to what you say; at least, not without
making yourself look a bit attention-starved and hypocritical.
This has gotten a bit more personal than I intended it to be, and I apologize if I have
offended anyone, but I honestly think it must be said... I'm not trying to be a psycho bitch,
nor am I just baiting people, although I'm sure many of you will see it that way. I just don't
think anyone should be able to get away with the idea that they can say whatever they want,
but no one else can. Which, of course, applies to me too, so you may feel free to attack me as
you will... I can take it, and I'm staying right here. :P

Rachel, you're partly right, I think... I was always under the impression that kekkais were used to protect the place where your loved ones lived. So then, Sorata would wish to protect the place where his future love lives, and Arashi... hm, not really sure on that one. But Kaede did tell her that she was going to meet a man who would love her... perhaps she wanted to protect that ideal, much like Sorata's. The implication is that Kamui can't make a kekkai because he doesn't know what/who he really wants to protect. So yes, it's something rather than someone (i.e. Tokyo), but the someone is the reason for it... if that makes sense... @_@
Ah... something I forgot to mention about PoT yesterday... what is up with that Ann chick? I would like to kick her smirky little face in. She's like a Mary Sue... all mysterious, and she knows everything about everyone, and she makes bad metaphors about bottles of cider and it just disgusts me XD

In a plot twist that will surprise exactly no one, I want the cute reporters to get together (and of course it has nothing to do with them reminding me of a certain other couple, noooo). Of course, the very fact that I want them to certainly means that they won't. And Tezuka is still sexy, but his pissy serious expression is beginning to irk me, because it appears to be the only one he has. If he cracks a smile just once, I'll be happy. And Sakuno. Needs. To. DIE. ><;;; I thought it was hilarious how she thought Ryoma was insulting her lunch and ran off crying, when in reality he was paying no attention to her whatsoever. Ha ha. I'm only on episode 15, further reports will come as I watch more.

Oh... I was playing The Sims today... I think my game is cursed. My characters are boring as hell, all they do is eat, sleep, fuck up the house and bitch, and for some reason they are always grumpy. And they don't like to interact unless I make them, and that's no fun. And even when I try to get the characters who are actually in love to cuddle or kiss or something, I get shoving and little minus signs above their heads. I'm tempted to spend all the money and let them all starve to death. -.-;;; Oh, yeah, and the baby is annoying. I don't even remember where the baby came from, but it screams all the time. And then half-naked-pink-Speedo-clad Fuuma has to go comfort it. That kid's going to grow up seriously fucked in the head. XD

Went to the Third Eye Blind/Goo Goo Dolls concert last night... heee. Johnny Rzeznik is hot. And hurrah for natives of Western New York XD 3EB was good too. My best friend just about spasmed about how hot Stephan Jenkins looked (which I have to agree, he was looking pretty good). And we both got up and left when Vanessa Carlton played "A Thousand Miles" XD because that song is so overplayed. The rest of her stuff was actually not too bad though... not as fluffy and poppy and annoying as that song, in any case >< Oh, and I was stuck sitting next to some fat old lady who knocked over my water, which I had just paid 3 bucks for. Fuckers. Other than that, it was much fun. ^__^
In other news, FF.net is amusing. *snickers* I left some constructive criticism for some random Mary Sue fic, the author got bitchy with me, and now every single reviewer after that has been getting on her back about her bad attitude. *feels incredibly proud of herself* XD Check out the carnage here... *snerk*
You do that with "Moulin Rouge" too? Yeah, I haven't seen the last scene since the first time I watched the movie... I can't take it! *sobs* And I mostly avoid HP fanfiction as well, although I went through a brief period of Sirius/Remus obsession earlier this year... it's just that Rowling's style is so unique that I don't really have a desire to read other peoples' attempts at it. Besides, there's nothing that hasn't already happened in the books that I'm really looking for... Sirius/Remus is the only pairing I like and there have been enough hints to that extent to satisfy me. For some reason I hate the idea of pairing off the younger characters. The story is about their friendship, not romance, and I'd prefer that it stay that way (although I'm not utterly opposed to Harry/Draco, I guess).
Aoki/Subaru? There actually is one... well... part of one... and it's actually pretty decent (though I'm highly biased in favor of the author who wrote it, because she was apparently a pretty vocal A/K supporter... unfortunately she's not around anymore *sniffles* I'm all aloooone XD). But I'd be interested to see what your friend could come up with by way of an interaction fic... not romance, because truthfully I believe that Aoki-san deserves better. ^_^
And as for why there isn't more Sorata/Kamui, I'd have to hazard a guess that it has to do with the favored characters of the authors... I think one of the main appeals of Subaru/Kamui for people who like the pairing is that Subaru and Kamui are two favorite characters of theirs, and many fans/writers consider Subaru and Kamui their favorite characters, so there's lots of S/K written. However, those people who are Sorata fans are usually fans of the Sorata/Arashi pairing as well, and the idea you mentioned about many fans finding Sorashi "sacred" comes into play. So it's not as likely that you're going to find someone who is enough of a fan of both Sorata and Kamui to pair them off, and who is open to the idea of pairing Sorata with someone other than Arashi... did that make any sense? I think I just confused myself @_@ but I can't think of a clearer way to say it...
On a much simpler note, Bejeweled has been devouring my soul of late as well... I got above 12,000 today. Yay me. XD And Alchemy is indeed evil. And hard. @_@ I really suck at it XD

About the other pairings for Sorata/Arashi issue, I agree somewhat... but it's not entirely the same as the idea of Seishirou/Subaru, because Subaru/Kamui has always struck me as a very hurt/comfort relationship. If Seishirou hadn't wounded Subaru so badly, there would be no reason to pair him with Kamui, because they'd have no common ground. On the other hand, while Sorata and Arashi have had their ups and downs, it's always been clear that they were going to get together and she was eventually going to return his feelings. So I don't think most fans really see much reason to pair them with other people, because there's just so much overwhelming evidence that they are "soulmates".
That said, I'm not one of those people who considers Sorashi sacred and unchangeable (though I do know at least one person like that... *snickers*). However, when I do think of pairing them with other people, it's usually on a temporary, experimental basis, or something fun, not as a serious relationship. (i.e. Sorata/Yuuto... I don't see them growing old together, but as a fling, a sort of "friends with benefits" idea, it's a lot of fun.) And I would still love to see Karen/Arashi shoujo-ai someday, but again, only on an experimental basis. I figure that since CLAMP has spent so much time building up the relationship between Sorata and Arashi, even allowing them to be the first couple in the manga to actually have sex, there must be something to it. I don't consider it the be-all and end-all of pairings involving the two of them, but all the same it seems odd to pair them off with others in a serious, long-term way unless there's a really good reason to. Why fix what isn't broken?
Going even farther back (I've been so lazy about blogging -.-;;;), I liked your X chess set discussion... awesome how you got things to work out so perfectly ^_^
And yay, you watched Excel Saga! It gets better, trust me. I actually wasn't that impressed by the first episode, but by the fourth I was completely hooked and laughing my ass off. (That one is the dating sim parody. *snicker*) And the opening theme is so addictive... ^^;;;

Thanks! ^_^ And yeah, *spoilers for "Signs" after this point, you have been warned* when the alien was holding the kid I was almost sure that they were going to turn out to be good, and that he was healing the kid or something. I think that would've been a great twist, and wonderful commentary on how the world has a tendency to attack anything they don't understand. Unfortunately they chose to go the predictable and overly sentimental route. Maybe I missed something, but I felt that this movie was really lacking in the usual Shyamalan surprising twist. There just... wasn't one, was there? o.O;;; I wasn't surprised by anything, except how damn cheesy the aliens looked XD like something out of a movie you might see on "Mystery Science Theater 3000", even. I did like the general air of suspense... it was very well done throughout the movie, the sense that things were a little bit off, not quite right, even in the normal scenes in town. And the humor was a nice added touch, especially when a funny part came right after a really scary moment... it was set up nicely so you could let out all the tension you'd just built up by the scary stuff XD
Oh, and Rachel and Kim, where do you download "Prince of Tennis" from, anyway? o.O I've looked everywhere, on WinMX, on Kazaa, on IRC, and I can't find anything. Particularly not the earlier episodes. Heeeelllppp XD

I can't really tell if I liked it or not. o.O;;; Quite scary in parts (two scenes in particular made me scream out loud ^^;;;), some very funny moments, some really sad moments, and then the ending was just... a total letdown. And I was expecting a surprise ending, but there really wasn't one... although I guess it was surprising that the ending was so bland, but that's all. I guess the problem is that if you go in expecting a science fiction thriller (which is what the ads and trailers really have been plugging it as), you'll probably be disappointed. Because it really is more of a psychological thing... it's about aliens, but the aliens are not the main focus of the movie, they're just the catalyst for the real story... if that makes any sense. And also, the aliens look incredibly cheesy. XD It was a decent movie, but nowhere near the coolness level of "Sixth Sense"... I hope he someday makes another movie that good, because "Unbreakable" didn't quite do it either ^^;;;
What's wrong with Kakyou/Hokuto? Or Kusanagi/Yuzuriha, for that matter? o.O;;; Personally, I'd think that a little variety in pairings on Clampesque would be a good thing... perhaps you don't happen to favor those pairings, but it doesn't really mean it's a bad thing that people are writing and posting them, ne? ^^;;;

In case you're too lazy to do that, the issue here is, apparently 14 characters was simply too much to deal with, so they took out two on each side.
You can guess the punchline, can't you? (And in case you're wondering, the two DoEs were Satsuki and Kakyou. Not hard to believe, because I can't imagine how Kakyou would fight, and BEAST might be tough to pixelify. And they had to even out the odds somehow, so hell, let's get rid of the unimportant DoHs! No one will miss them! *steams*
*sighs* Yeah, I know in comparison to starving children and nuclear war, this is nothing, but dammit, it pisses me off. Did it really have to be both of them? I mean, if I were going to pick a DoH to take out, even though I love her, I'd pick Yuzu. Because all she has is the damn dog, and she doesn't seem like she'd be a very strong fighter, being 14 and all.
I know there's still the chance of them being unlockable characters or something, but there's still the issue of Kakyou, so I seriously doubt it. *sighs* So much for that.
