Thanksgiving in IL was nice.... 3 full days spent mostly on my ass, with good food and good company. I was happy for the opportunity to relax. The traveling part wasn't as awful as I anticipated, although I am definitely feeling wiped out now. It's harder to bounce back from weekend getaways while pregnant. Come to think of it, it's harder to bounce back from just about everything while pregnant.

Now that we're back in Albany, work on the new house must resume. There are boxes and bags everywhere. I arrive home from work in the evenings all tuckered out and it all seems so overwhelming. Fortunately, T and I have very little on the agenda this coming weekend... our first free weekend in what seems like months... so I am hoping to spend Saturday and Sunday in unpacking and organization mode.

T and I attended a "Prepared Childbirth" class last night... the first in a series of three. We discussed anatomy and practiced some basic breathing techniques, and I was feeling really positive and relaxed about everything until the end of the class, when we watched a video of a birth. Now my anxieties with regard to pushing a -- at the very least, given my current weight gain pattern -- 7.5 pound creature out of my body have returned full-force. I know I can do it, especially with T coaching me, but I am very nervous about it nonetheless.

We're flying to IL this morning, where we will spend the long weekend celebrating Thanksgiving with T's family. I am looking forward to seeing everyone on that side of the family (also looking forward to the food, of course), but I am kind of dreading the flight. I do not enjoy airplanes as it is, and usually pop a Xanax before boarding in order to keep my jitters in check. Clearly, drugs are not an option in my current state. And I have officially entered the uncomfortable final phase of pregnancy, so I am not exactly relishing the idea of squeezing my larger-than-usual body into a narrow seat and sitting in the same position for several hours. Hopefully the time will pass quickly.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

T and I went to beautiful Newport, RI this past weekend to attend the wedding of my childhood friend Tatiana and her fiancé, Eric.

It was a very small, non-traditional and fun party. I saw a bunch of old family friends and met some interesting, new people. T and I were seated next to another pregnant woman at dinner, so I had the opportunity to blab about babies for a good portion of the night.

Unfortunately, we had to leave quite early on Sunday to return to Albany, as we still have a bunch of moving-related chores to accomplish. Before we took off, though, we drove past St. George's, a prep school that both my father and my uncle attended, and we also stopped off at a scenic overlook to check out the ocean:

Now it's Monday morning. Back to reality.
