My life has been pretty crazy lately, hence the lack of posts. Work has been busy. We've been house-hunting. I scratched the cornea of my left eye last week, which waylaid me for several days. Last weekend, we travelled down-state to attend a big, fancy wedding and visit with my family. Next weekend, we're going to Providence. The list goes on.
I have the feeling I might not be posting too often for the next couple of weeks, although I will certainly try. In the meantime, I will leave you with some recent photos of my adorable nieces:
I had a great time at the Albany Tulip Festival this weekend. I ate delicious, bad-for-me carnival food, watched The Funk Brothers perform, rolled down a big, grassy hill with a bunch of kids, and saw a whole bunch of purdy flowers:
T and I spent this past weekend in Boston. I had forgotten how much I love that city. So historic, beautiful... and clean! So much to do!
We arrived in Dorchester (about 15 minutes South of the city) late Friday evening, and spent the rest of the night catching up with my friend Tatiana and her boyfriend Eric (our hosts). We strolled around the city in the rain on Saturday. T hasn't spent much time in Boston, so we made sure to check out some touristy spots (Boston Common, the Massachusetts State House, King's Chapel (which has a cool, old burial ground next to it) and John Kerry's ritzy home) for his benefit. Here's a crappy photo of me and Tatiana at Trident, where we stopped for book-browsing and coffee drinks:
On Saturday night, we had a gluttonous feast at The Red Fez and then went to the fundraising party for my friend Rob's documentary project, Harbour Grace. It's going to be a great film! On Sunday, T and I met up with my old college friend Pete at a pub in Jamaica Plain. We spent a few hours catching up with him, then went to Trader Joe's to stock up (there aren't any Trader Joe's stores anywhere near Albany, so we like to take advantage of them whenever we can) before driving back home. Now it's Monday morning and I am seriously dragging ass and wishing I had an extra day to relax before beginning my hectic week.
T and I are in the beginning stages of buying our first home. We haven't found one yet, but we have set our sights on a particular Albany neighborhood and are starting to look at available buildings, investigate real estate agencies, etc. I am very ready to own a place, even more so after having spent the weekend at Tatiana and Eric's beautiful condo. I have so many creative decorating ideas that I have been stifling for years because I haven't wanted to spend the money or energy on any of my numerous rented abodes. We are hoping to have found something by the end of the summer - keep your fingers crossed for us!
