Last blog entry before I go to Texas. Hoping would once again be appreciated for a hitch-free journey, if possible. I'll be gone before noon, so all think of me tomorrow morning. ^_^

Incidentally, if you want to email me, use my Noodle Bowl email not the Hotmail one (that'll be the same name as my Hotmail, just @thenoodlebowl.com instead, in case anyone didn't know).

Normal bloggage will be resumed as soon as I get near a pc. ^_^

Listening to/Whining About: Well scums...

I depart tomorrow morning. o_0 My three months in Texas begin! The flight is booked (although they haven't sent me any confirmation of it, which is a pain in the arse >_<) my visa is in my passport, and I've got hotel (thanks to Ivan for finding it!)

Now I've just got to finish my blasted packing. >_<

Heh...dude, this time tomorrow I'm going to be on my way to Texas. o_0 Hehehehehehehehe... ^________________^

For them wot doesn't know. MY PASSPORT CAME AND I'M FLYING ON THURSDAY!!! ^_________________________________________^

Would give detail on this but I'm tired. I have the stress of finding a hotel now. >_< If anyone knows a cheap, good, available hotel in San Antonio, I'd love to know. o_0

Listening to/Whining About: Everybody Shake it Buddy - FAKE

Yeah, I know. There's something totally wrong about my taste in music this summer. I don't know what it is, maybe it's the stress. I used to hate this song, now I don't. I chortle merrily at its crapness and dance around the kitchen.

Well, today has been more interesting than standard Grantham fare. No sign of the passport yet, but that was to be expected. Went in to town with Mum, bought stuff, went to see Mrs Earll at the nursing home. Was very happy to see she already had visitors there when I arrived. She's always saying how none of her family come and see her any more so I was rather chuffed for her when I met her nephew and his wife. And their dog. ^______^ *queue glompage of luffly doggie*

Did some shopping in town. I take this as a mark of the crapness of this town that I couldn't find a copy of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in any of the bookshops here. >_< All two of them, one of which is WH Smiths. >_< *has Oxford withdrawal symptoms* In lieu of that I found a copy of Good Omens, news which I'm sure shall gladden the hearts of select Ass no Ryu. ^_^ Also got the photos back fromthe end of Tasha's finals and end of term. I shall endeavour to get some of the more quality ones copied and sent to the relevant parties. ^_^

Went to the very nice Thai restaurant this evening, which is always enjoyable. Ate copious amounts of lychee. Mmm lychees...

Yeah, so, anyway. Passport. Flights. Tomorrow. Collective hoping, please?

Listening to/Whining About: Catch You Catch Me (again o_0)

Well, not much to report from this weekend. Obviously nothing has happened with my passport, I'm about forty pages off finishing Dracula and I'm half way through packing.

Have been having angst over flights now. Everywhere we phoned for prices said no please no don't book a flight because we're going to have to charge you the entire ticket price if you have to cancel. Hum. I guess at least their honesty is good, even if it leaves me in a sticky situation. Everyone just pray there are flights left when my passport arrives...and that this happens on Tuesday. -_-

Anyway, when I've not been stressing about flights and passports, I got my hair cut (and now I look even less hairtacular than usual) watched the grand prix and played copious amounts of Devil May Cry 2. Which is now officially my pet game (in the same way that Texhnolyze is my pet anime - I'm going to like it because no one else does ^___^). I now have all the luffly little extras you get for finishing the game manifold times. The DMC games have the best name ever for the *harder-than-hard* mode. In DMC2 it goes Normal Mode -> Hard Mode -> Dante Must Die Mode. ^__^ It amuses me, even if DMD isn't *that* hard (I've never even got to Dante Must Die in DMC, I will admit ^_^).

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, DMC makes me happy. Ivan had better be taking care of my other Dante. I luff that game. o_0

Listening to/Whining About: >_<

No sign of my passport yet. This is very very annoying. It means I'm not going to get it back until Tuesday at the very earliest, which has all but scuppered my plans to leave on Wednesday. >_<

(If you're wondering, it'll be Tuesday because the American embassy won't be open today, it being 4th July and all, and they're sending it to me by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which is guaranteed to get there the next day before noon, thus if they had sent it to me yesterday it would have already got here. I presume they also don't work Saturdays, and obviously there's no post on Sundays, so the best I can hope for is they send it on Monday and I get it on Tuesday. >_<)

So this leaves me with something of a dilema. As long as I get my passport back and there are flights left, I *will* get to Texas at some point next week, it's just a question of when. I would like to go on Wednesday, obviously, and if my passport came back on Tuesday I *might* conceivably be able to phone up the travel agents and get a flight for the next day, but that's going to be pushing it (that said, if it's possible I'm definitely going to do it!). Otherwise, it's going to be hold on until Friday and fly then. Which is not wonderful, but it's better than a kick up the arse. I would actually like a few days to settle in to my new "home" before I start my internship though. >_<

Anyway, that has me excessively stressed right now. Just hope it's all going to come together by Tuesday. -_-

Incidentally, has Liz disappeared into the ether? We haven't heard from you in a while, Lizzu. :'(

Time: 10:28 p.m.
Listening to/Whining About: Hum...

Tasha has me addicted to that Toga song on this week's Noodlebowl mp3 update. o_0 So. Very. Cool. I second the motion that it's actually a better song than eX Dream. But then as all the Ass no Ryu know, I'm a sucker for anything with noisy guitar in. ^_________^

Haven't really done much of interest today. Entirely gave up on watching the Henman match after about half an hour of the restart because I knew exactly what was going to happen. -_- Henman just wasn't good enough this time. Sad but true. *shrugs* Actually spent copious amounts of time with the one PS2 game I have kept with me (the rest being at Ivan's, of course). But then I luff Devil May Cry 2, whatever anyone else says. Trying to go through it on hard mode...which is, in fact, not as hard as it ought to be. o_0 But then I might think differently when I get back to the final boss. That took me blasted ages to do on normal mode. >_< But I get copious amounts of coolness to play through, and frankly I just love that game.

Did some work, interspersed with more readage. Getting to the interesting parts of Dracula now (not to imply that what came before wasn't interesting, but this is just the *really* good bit). Have come to the conclusion that the only real career for me is some kind of Van Helsing/Dante/Alucard-styled hunter of the undead. It's the job all the cool kids are doing. o_0 And I'm an Egyptologist so it's not like I'm not au fait with this kind of thing anyway. It's a logical step for someone with my training, obviously! Now all I need is some guns and stakes...and some undead monsters to hunt. On second thoughts, this might involve actual mortal danger... Yeaahh. Hm. Note to self...rethink career plans. Keep undead-hunting ambitions in videogaming life. o_0

Passport still hasn't come back from the American Embassy, incidentally. >_< I'm getting a bit concerned about that, because I don't think it's going to be back before next week at this rate. Which is going to be a stress for me because I'm going to be getting my flights right on the line, since I'm meant to be flying next Friday at the very latest. >_<

Time: 10:42 p.m.
Listening to/Whining About: Right, well...

I suppose it's time I blogged, hmm? I hadn't got round to it until now because I've been filling people in on what's been happening every time I go online. ^_^ So many apologies to anyone I haven't spoken to who might have been wondering (...Liz... ^_^;;)

The interview at the American Embassy went well...I think. The embassy itself is an exceptionally imposing place...as you might expect. The fact that there was a guy at the front with a gun was scary enough, but then I guess they need decent security in this day and age, sadly. -_-

Went though security and formalities (amused/terrified by the fact that the last thing the guy at the desk said to me was "good luck!" - thankful though I am to be wished such, I was rather hoping this was something I'd be able to get through without requiring luck o_0). Got to the very cramped, very hot room where I spent the next three hours waiting for my form handing-in and interview. It was hot, it was cramped and I was nervous...like quite a chunk of the other people in there I'm sure.

Decided to camp out next to the fan and read my book...until a very very loud girl piped up across from me, blabbing about her university course. >_< So irritating I couldn't concentrate on reading so eventually decided I should probably leave my otherwise perfect cool sanctuary by the fan and go somewhere where there weren't people I wanted to hit. -_-

Waited some more, read some more then eventually my number came up and I got to have my interview. Surprisingly nice! The guy who interviewed me (I was glad it was a guy...men who work in these kinds of places always seem so less stern than the women...don't ask me why o_0) was lovely and asked me about being an Egyptologist and stuff and was generally an amicable chap. ^_^ Also added weight to my theory that there is not an American alive who doesn't like San Antonio. Really. Every single American I've ever met who's been there has always gone on about what a lovely place it is. And it is actually, so there you go. :p Liz liked it, and I'll force Ivan to like it whether he does or not. ^____^

Anyway, embassy work done, the maternal parental unit and I made a quick trip up to Colindale. Seeing my mum in Asahiya has to be one of the more amusing moments of the day. ^_^ The ass no ryu must know the "that's that Japanese stuff you like, isn't it?" look that you get parents see anything anime-related. ^_^ And lo was such a face pulled when she saw the dearth of English letters on the shelves. ^___^ Hunted a little, but nothing I wanted. (Incidentally, checked the Getbackers manga on your behalf, Lizzu....they still have nothing later than 18). So went to the supermarket, bought sweeties then got the tube back to King's Cross and came home.

Other things of (for want of a better word) interest...we have a hamster!! ^_____________^ His name is Trevor and lo is he a coolbean. He belongs to elder sibling Jenny and is lodging with us whilst the two of them find somewhere to live now she's graduated and needs a job. He is small and fluffy and brown, rather cute but doesn't actually do much until about midnight. *shakes fist at nocturnal creature*

Aforementioned reading is the source of much pleasure at the moment. I have, in my great Hellsingey fandom, decided to read Dracula, on account of it being needed backstory for me to ever write the Hellsing website I will force myself to do one day. ^_^ I am amazed at how much I'm enjoying it. I mean, it's a book...without pictures...and I'm reading it...and wanting to read it. o_0 I have almost reverted to my pre-teen bookwormish ways. I keep slinking off to my room to read more. ^_^ I just rather like the style....it makes the story so much more intriguing. And it actually has characters I like. o_0 Except Mina and Lucy. >_< But then I'm only halfway through the book right now so maybe I shouldn't be so harsh. Dr Seward and Van Helsing are dudes, and Renfield mental patient guy and the count himself are sufficiently scary. ^___^ I am muchly enjoying it. Probably more bloggage to follow on this subject.

Right, that's enough for anyone to read from me. o_0

I feel very very sick right now. I'm absolutely terrified about tomorrow and the interview. I'm sure I'm going to forget something and they'll be like oh, no, you need that, we can't give you a visa without it. >_<

I am very very stressed about this. It's taking so much effort to get this internship and I just so much don't want to fall at the final hurdle. >_<

I can see me not getting much sleep tonight. -_-

(Anyone who makes anything of me listening to this song gets a free slap in the face....alright? o_0)

Speaking of appaling and shameful obssessions, I think everyone who reads this blog now has come across my latest hidden shame. And shameful it is.

I am obssessed with Card Captor Sakura.

Yeah, shut up. I told you already I'm ashamed. I shouldn't like it. I am shounen violence girl Katy. I like Hellsing and Texhnolyze and anime that involves things fighting and/or getting blown up. But lo can I not resist the cuteness.

The shame.
