old entries: archives

the basic stats:

name: lisa

nickname: karura from CLAMP's RG Veda(thus, pretty blue)

age: 17

ethnicity: mutt. seriously. chinese, finnish, italian, german, french, and english. fun, huh? somebody told me i look irish. ^^;; (it was because of my pale complexion and dark hair-they said it was an irish complexion...) it's very interesting being mixed. somebody once thought my sister was hawaiian. another thought she was spanish. ^^;;

height: 5'8" (nothing to complain about, except that it's kinda hard to find a guy that's taller than me, especially at my school, which is composed of mostly asian people. ^^;; no offense to asian people. it's just that i inherited my scandinavian genes for height instead of my asian ones... and it's kinda weird to go out with a guy who's shorter than you, though i wouldn't mind if i liked the guy enough...)

weight: middle of the range for my height. i range between 120 and 130, depending on how much I've eaten in the last few days. not anorexic, not fat. healthy weight. good.

favorite subjects: art, literature, math, chemistry, physics

least favorite subjects: history, biology, foreign language

favorite food: teateateateatea (especially pearl milk tea...heehee...)

favorite things: my alpaca rug (it's so soft!!), all my art supplies, all my books, my laptop (when it's working), my computer art tablet (maybe that goes under art supplies), my teddy bear

pet peeves: multi-part questions (you know, you start a question and discover it has a part a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i, and j? ARRRGHHHHH!!!), stubbed toes, paper cuts, and people who pick on my little sister. (lisa will go and smack them upside the head, yeeesss. lisa will recruit her very willing friends to help her beat up some little punks, yeeessss. lisa pissed? o~oh, yes. lisa pissed.)

extracurriculars: nerdy things like robotics team, mock trial, and the school's literary magazine, and all those nerdy little GPA-based-entry clubs that actually don't do anything, and of course, my favorite, cg (computer graphics) club. Nominally, I'm part of the school's anime club because I think I paid my dues, but I've only been to one meeting. I've seen all the anime shows I personally want to see, and I'd rather not watch shows I respect with a bunch of rude otaku guys (and girls ^^;;).

color: blue, obviously

music: anything by yoko kanno; savage garden; enya; light classical music; bryan adams; richard marx; maaya sakamoto

songs: platinum by maaya sakamoto; adesso o fortuna by uhhhh, dunno, but it's from record of lodoss war; deedlit's song from record of lodoss war; anything "druggie" sounding, as someone once dubbed the music i listen to. :)

favorite anime: berserk, ccs (card captor sakura), trigun

favorite manga: ccs, yami no matsuei, bakuretsu hunters, dnangel

favorite anime characters: judeau from berserk, karura from rg veda, touya, kero, and eriol from ccs, vash from trigun, seilan, luva, marcel, and lumiale from angelique (yum... but maybe these people should be over in video games...aw well. not like i ever played the video game...), marron from bakuretsu hunders, xelloss and sylphiel from slayers (interesting, no? maybe it's the purplish hair...), miki and mikage from utena, etoh and deedlit from lodoss, watari from yami no matsuei (heck, everyone from yami no matsuei), amiboshi, chichiri, and tatara from fushigi yuugi, and others I can't remember right now...

Just came back from a camping trip. It was...interesting. I was almost run over by a golf cart driven by the Happy Kamper Cow. No, you DON'T want to know. believe me. You do NOT wnat to know. I hauled firewood and "helped" my friends cook and sat by our fire until midnight giggling with my friends about things that teenage girls giggle over. o.<;; And the bunch of us (seven including me) actually ~did~ take an hour long hike. To the factory outlets that were nearby. ^_^ No, I'm not kidding you. I got an armlet at Claire's factory outlet for $1.33. *_* Niiice... What kind of camping trip WAS this, you might ask. It was NOT camping. That's all I can say. Camping is a circle of dirt that you pitch a tent in, bathing in freezing cold water and feeding on fish you catch and food you cook. It is NOT what my friends arranged. Happy Kamper Cow? Warm showers? A swimming pool? A petting farm? A VIDEO ARCADE? >.< Needless to say, a few of my friends were very happy with this type of camping...
What else? Nothing, really... I'm on a diet. I'm going to Hawaii next week and I'm FAT. >.< Or maybe I should get some muscle instead of flab. That would work too. Must decide on workout routine...
And Lisa has suddenly and unaccountably been hooked on Digimon. >.< Don't ask. I don't know. Well, actually I do. The animation is really quite beautiful; different, and stylized, but very aesthetic. And the character designs are very nice (though some of the english voices are kinda corny...) And...and... it's SOO CUUTEEEEE!!!
everyone: O.O;;
lisa: what?

Woohoo~ooooo!! :)
Everything's going so well it's not even funny.
I got my SAT 2 scores back for math 2c and chemistry. 780 and 790, respectively. ^_^ Ohohohohoho!! My math 2c improvement was only ten points, unfortunately. Still... Very, very cool. The week of pain paid off. ^_^ AND I NEVER HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN!! WOOHOO!! More, I got my AP scores back: 5, 5, and 5, for english language, history, and chemistry. :):) And I was worried I wouldn't PASS. 5,5,5! 5,5,5! Another TWO weeks of intense pain paid off! (more than that, counting the study/worry period; but the two weeks of pain of taking the actual AP tests are what I'm talking about) Hee hee, funny symmetry with my scores; 760,770,780,790,800 (satI verbal, satI math, satII math2c, sat2 chemistry, sat2 writing). Like a straight hand of poker! And 5,5,5. Three of a kind! Teehehehehehe...don't mind me. I'm going insane.
In fact, my junior year couldn't have gone any better! I think I'm all set for college applying now. ^_^ The only thing I need to account for now is recommendation letters and the essay. >.< Eww.
And I saw the end of Trigun!! ;_; It gave me a bittersweet happy feeling. Do you know that emotion? You feel happy, because something has gone very, very right, but at the same time, this feeling of great loss and desolation descends on you. I get the same feeling from Robin Hobb's assassin books- some things have gone very, very right, but I couldn't imagine things becoming worse for poor Fitz. I feel that way for Vash, and Wolfwood too; except none of them, Fitz, Vash, and Wolfwood, really have anything in common. >.< Bastard assassin of royal blood, pacifistic gunman with inhuman origins, and errant minister who runs an orphange. Well, maybe their contradictions connect them...
Alright, enough of that breed of musing. I also saw some of another series- Crest of the Stars, or Seikai no Menshou. Beautiful series- I suppose it'd be classified as space opera... Quite lovely. And of course I'm quite taken with the Ahb thing. A off-shoot of the human race with beautiful elvin looks and blue hair? I'm in love already. *_* And I love space opera. So yeah... And I've been on a really major reading spree. Standouts are Children of Hope by David Feintuch (lovely, lovely book, as I expect from Feintuh- and the death count is surprisingly modest in this one...wow...), as well as Shadow of the Hegemon by Orson Scott Card. Both are military scifi. (well, I don't know if Hegemon qualifies for that genre as much as Ender's Game did...but give me a break. It's military, and it's set in the future, so despite the lack of space ships and the like I call it military scifi. So nyah.) I'm also rereading all of Mercedes Lackey's books from Winds of Fate on to Storm Breaking. *_* I forgot how much I loved her writing... I'm reading other books too, but I don't really feel like commenting on any of them. So I guess that's all of my book update for the summer...
Video game updates!! Me and my sister are just about ready to go into the last battle for ff8; we just wanna get the last GF, Eden, and we're set. We even have Quistis's Shockwave Pulsar limit break, though we've yet to see it in action... But we did get Lion Heart. And after seeing the limit break that came with the weapon (which looks pretty cool itself) we both came to a unanimous conclusion- Squall is a god. Comeon. 20 hits, each doing 9999 damage? Egad. O_O What in the world would that NOT kill off? And beyond ff8, I'm going retro and playing Suikoden I. ^_^ I like Victor. Victor's great. But I don't think I'll possibly be able to keep track of all the 108 playable characters. >.< Eesh. I want Lu~uc in our party~y!! (sniffles) Yes, I'm not very far in the game. So sue me. I've only had to decent playing sessions on it. And I had to quit without saving on the second one. >.< Ouchies. And I'd like to compliment the option "free will" in the battle system. ^_^ Perfect option for the lazy RPGer!!...like me!
Um, nothing else I have to babble about. I'll leave you in relative peace, now. So long, farewall, au....(various people pelt Lisa with tomatoes and small microwave ovens to make her stop singing)

I was chosen to be one of the Honor Guard for the graduating seniors! :) Which means nothing, really, except that I get to hold a flag at graduation and that I'm somewhere in the top 25 people in my class of about... 500, 600 people? I don't know. But not bad, not bad... But they only base being chosen for it by GPA (grade point average), which I think is a little narrow-minded... There's lots of people I feel that should have been selected for other things that they've accomplished besides their GPA... but they weren't. Oh well. Bureaucracy...
What else? Oh, my chemistry teacher threw out our chemistry final. It's actually pretty funny. The average on it was a 60%. That's pretty bad. So what was his say? "This test did not accurately reflect the knowledge you have acquired this year." Or something like that. Hey, it's all good... Not like it would've mattered to me, whether he counted it or not... But it's still cool that he just threw the final out like that. I never thought he would...
Hm, what else? Oh, I went shopping with my friend today. :) It was fun. We were shopping for her senior ball accessories. Pretty shiny jewelry!! I love pretty shiny things. :) We also baked cookies and...oh crap. I left the eggs over at her house. o.O Oh well. Guess I can go get them back tomorrow... Um, what else... We drew. :) We like drawing. Drawing is good. But she's a senior and she's going to college next year, so I won't see her as much anymore. ;_; At least she's going to college close by... But STILL!!

Wai~~iii!! I got a 96.5 on my thematic interpretation speech. :):) That's better than I've ever done on a speech, so I'm very delighted. Where did I get points off? Body movements. I stood stock still, because if I don't stand stock still I panic and start shaking. >.< Speeches. Ewww. But I survived! ^_^
Dumdedum. Took my chem final today. It was hard, but not as bad as everyone was making it out to be. But it was still hard. >.< What's left this school year? Monday: Chinese final. Tuesday: Math final. After that, nothing. *_* Woohoo! I'm almost done with junior year!! This rules. :)
Tralala. But I'm really starting to get apathetic here. I didn't even study for my chem final I was so spaced out. O.O Well, I've had enough of studying for chemistry this year, what with AP tests and SAT 2's. But I can't seem to bring myself to care about my math final either. .........that can't be good.
And it looks like I'm going to be tutoring for a job this summer. o.O English and math. Interesting. Never taught English before. Don't know where to start, really. -_-;; There goes my summer. (sigh) How did I get into this, anyways...?

-karura [Thursday, June 7, 2001, 08:03 p.m.]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meep. Once again, I have next to nothing to say, but I'm bored and I don't want to study. ^^;; Hmmm... I'm very happy. I have at least one 800 on the practices for both the sat 2 math 2c and the chem going into this Saturday's test, so I think I have a pretty good chance of doing well. Of course, I better make sure to study organic chem. ^^;; Ewww... Ketones and esthers and esters and aldehydes and aromatic hydrocarbons. o.o Tell me how I'm supposed to remember the difference between all those? ;_; Not to mention alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes. Who the hell came up with that naming scheme? It's fun, yeah... But who the hell came up with it?
What else? Oh, I'm getting a twitch in my foot. O.o No, really. You know how normal people have the muscle around their eyes twitch when they's pissed or stressed or whatever? Like this: o.<;; Ah, I love emoticons. Anyway. I got that same muscle twitch, except I have it in my feet. O.o It's really weird.
And I took a nap all afternoon today. ^_^ Naps gooood. I'm really behind on my sleep, so the nap was good. And I'm sorta ahead on my chinese projects, and I'm in the process of writing my speech for lit, and I don't foresee any problems on any of my finals, so I'm happy. ^_^ I think it was the nap. Sleep makes you alert makes you energetic makes you optimistic makes you happy. Wheeeeeee!!!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All right! I'm plenty relieved. o.o I took another sat 2 chem practice test and got a 780. That's a 100 point jump from yesterday, folks. O.O I dunnnoooo... Pretty weird. Anyways! I've been getting chronic headaches lately. o.o That's not good, is it? Thankfully, tylonel and such is still effective. But people tell me it isn't healthy to have tylonel every day... Eep. Maybe summer is coming at a good time...
