Version 4: Oujiro from Angelic Layer. In the manga, he's a very strange cookie; in the anime, he's the sweetest thing I've ever laid eyes on. X3 And I'm pretty big on Oujiro x Misaki, so don't even talk to me about manga pairings. Tamayo goes with Kotarou, dammit!! But yeah. The whole 'study time' thing pounced on me as soon as I saw this picture, so I immediately scanned it and had it stored on my harddrive for two months, getting ready for me to make it into a layout. o_O Yes, I know, I'm lazy...

And the Art Department is officially a bunch of darlings. $100 scholarships? For ten people? I know like that doesn't sound like much, for a scholarship, but that's a total of a thousand dollars spent by the art department. I don't even know if the Art Department can afford to spend half that. So, yes. The Art Department is cool. :)

Holidays go by way too quickly. I was supposed to do soo much this 3 day weekend, and how much of it did I do? Not a whole lot. I didn't go cloth shopping (though my wig is on its way) and I'm only a little over halfway done studying for my physics final; I didn't do any of my government extra credit stuff or my calculus extra credit stuff; and I didn't even touch Poisonwood Bible. Garh.

Oh well. What I did do: family turned on the TV randomly at dinner yesterday (we don't actually watch tv very much, so this is unusual in itself) and Forrest Gump was on. So we started watching it. We didn't stop. It's a rather long movie. It's also a very good movie (it made me cry several times, even though this is my third or fourth time seeing it) but the fact is it that it prevented me from studying. Damn satellite television. So, Sunday night productivity: nil. It was worth seeing Haley Joel Osment in there at the end, though. X3 I didn't even know he was in the movie! And then he just appeared, and my entire family's collective jaw just dropped. My mom was like, "Is that who I think it is?" Yes, mom. He was so tiny for a six year old, but still so. Freaking. Intelligent. And mature. That it makes my head hurt. ^_^ This is the boy playing Sora! Kyaa~aa-hahahaha!! I have to save up to buy a PS2 just so I can play Kingdom Hearts when I'm at Duke. o_O

Just so you all know, my dream role for Haley Joel Osment is Ender in Ender's Game. :D And I hear that Orson Scott Card is writing a script for the guy who directed the Neverending Story. Now, if that pulls through (for once; Ender's Game productions never seem to get past the planning stage) I would be tickled pink if Haley Joel Osment was Ender. But by then he'll probably be too old. >_< Hell, he's probably too old now. He's like, what, 14? But I can dream. ^_^

Back to school tomorrow. Yes, I know it's senior ditch day, but I'm not ditching. Man, I'm pathetic. Oh well. Too much to do. Better get back to studying...

Well, my friends always say I'm such a "vanilla" person. It's an inside joke whenever we go to Baskin Robbins. "Ohh, Lisa's being wild today! She's getting french vanilla this time! X3" I kid you not. I am the queen of vanilla. Soft-serve, ice cream, floats, milkshakes... Vanilla. Yumyumyum. So maybe it's not a surprise that I got the following result on the following test:

What Flavour Are You? I am Vanilla Flavoured.I am Vanilla Flavoured.

I am one of the most popular flavours in the world. Subtle and smooth, I go reasonably with anyone, and rarely do anything to offend. I can be expected to be blending in in society. What Flavour Are You?

Amazingly true. I don't offend, and I get along with everyone, and I'm very subtle and tactful in general. But I wouldn't say that I blend in all the time. Occasionally I like to take out all the Goth gear out of my closet to be scary for the day, just because it's fun to be different for once. I want to do that for a day at AX; funny thing is I'll probably blend right in with the j-rock cosplaying people. X3 Heehee. I'm having too much fun. I have the perfect getup too! Wheee~~!! Maybe I can borrow Sachiko's or Melissa's big boots too. That would totally complete the image, if I don't fall over and sprain my ankle... It would be like the time at the mall! Giggling in the Teddy Bear Factory looking like we crawled out of an Anne Rice novel. X3 Yes, I amuse myself too much.

I really thought I'd get tea like Phi though. I love tea too. ^_^

Oh, and just to show that not everyone gets the same results on those recent X quizes...

Which X Pairing Are You?

Oo~kay. I never knew I supported this pairing. 0_o I mean, and I really haven't read enough that far into the series to really know about it. I guess it's cute, but... And I believe firmly in love? Really? Uh... Oh, whatever. My favorite is actually Yuzuhira and Kusanagi and they weren't on there, so... Lalala. Anyways. Just for the record, I got Kusanagi on the DoE quiz. Big surprise.

And just because it prooves how much of a stoney spazz that I am:

You have Serial Experiments Lain eyes!

Take the test here!! Made by Jenna and Robbie.

It had to be Lain, didn't it? I mean, I like Lain. But... It's Lain. It's like getting Clover on the Which Clamp series are you quiz. o_O Stoney cyber-punk-ish depressing. But I'm not depressing dammit! So why? ...oh, too hard to think. I'm done.

There is some absolutely gorgeous Furuba fanart here. *_* The art still retains the quality and spirit of the original manga art...but it's so pretty. And I'm not even a particular fan of the manga art... (story and characters, of course, being another matter...) Anyways. I'll go be productive now. ^^;;

Seen on a license plate today: "0-60: Eventually." X3 I find that extremely amusing.

Did my "valedictory" speech for lit AP today. They liked it! X3 Six seperate people came up to me (including my teacher) telling my one or more of the following: (a) it was so beautiful (b) it was different than the usual valediction speech, very personal and focused, not trite it all (c) "it sounds just like me!" (d) you were able to connect your situation so well to everyone else or (e) "I loved your analogies!" Wheeee!!! And to think I was stressing so hard over that speech. I seriously felt like I was going to vomit while I was waiting to go, because I was going last, and you know how stressed you get when you go last. >_< Garhh. And I was afraid I was talking about myself too much, I mean, I talked about my little anecdote for half the speech, but thankfully, everybody seemed to like that. Maybe just because it was different than everybody else's formula speeches, I don't know. Butbut and then someone asked me for a copy of the speech, and you don't know how amazingly flattering (and embarrassing) I find that. Wheee!! Inspirational Speeches'R'Us! Err, Me! Yeah. Now I have to read The Poisonwood Bible in a week and 3 days. And then do a five minute presentation on it. w00t.

Cosplay! Going to try to get the wig tonight. :) Will try to go cloth shopping with Kix (and maybe Phi if you get better?) on Sunday. Have to find reference pictures first, though. Hmm... They're harder to find than I thought. Not many full-body pictures...

Haveta go to Cancun meeting tonight at 8. Should be interesting. I get to hear everyone's parents spazzing about how dangerous Cancun will be for 6 teenage girls and their two chaperones. And then I study. For the rest of memorial day weekend. Crap, this sucks. Stupid Duke and their 'maintaining high standards. >_> Oh well. Shouldn't be to bad. I'm pretty set in most everything, so now I just have to review like mad to ensure that I do okay on the finals. Damn cumulative finals; especially when I didn't pay attention for most of second semester. (okay, I embellish. But sometimes truth is larger than reality. ^_~) A~anyways. Finish snack. Sleep. Get up and study. Yup, that's my life right now... How pathetic...

And I really have to change this layout. Wishful thinking is so not me.

Ack! Philana, noo~oooo!! You've got a fever? Eek, no wonder you weren't feeling good. Eekeekeek! No wonder you were in an Akito-type mood, because Akito's sick all the time, and.... Okay, so maybe that isn't a very good connection. But having a fever is Not Good. There is actually some sort of cold or flu going around, actually. I know at least one other person who's got the flu or something, or possibly strep throat (egad, that sounds like it might be it... Do your symptoms match that?) and even though it is spring, it's been kinda rainy and cold lately... Doh. Anyways, just rest, Philana! Hear me? Rest! Sleep! Have some chicken noodle soup! And above all, feel better! Worry about cloth shopping and stuff after you get better. ^_^

Nyoo~ooo... Been doing wig research, and have given up on getting a cheap white wig for the skit. But, I've come up with several alternatives that are not cheap, per say, but pretty good looking anyways. Maybe I can sell it to someone else after I finish with it. ^^;; Anyways, ne ne, Phi, Kix, whatcha think of these?

This is a e-bay auction; the wig is pictured on the top left. I think it looks right for the character... And if I work it right I can get it for around $28 with shipping. Not bad...

You have to scroll down for this one. It's called "Celine", and the price is okay; it's not as pretty as the first one though, but it does come in white... Problem: it's based in Canada so the shipping's more expensive.

This wig or this wig. They're not the right color and they're more expensive than the other two, $35 or $36 without shipping.

Finally, this one. The most expensive of them all at $46.50, but it's hella long and it comes in white. Still... $46.50....>_<

The first one looks the best, really. Do you think it's long enough? Cuz' I like it more the more I look at it. (maybe because it's the cheapest. ^_~) Oh well... I have a little time to think about it...

And I hope you feel better, Phi!! Don't worry about things too much; just take a nap or have a nice warm cup of tea. You always put yourself in better perspective when you do. :) And tell me if you need any help with the government project, Kix! Andand dammit, Kenji, I wanna bring the Hikago artbook to show you and everyone else, but it's just too big and nice to haul around in my backpack all day... It's sooo prettyyyy.... Damn people you can use Copics! Gah! Anyways... I haven't touched my homework yet today. Silly me. Better get to it...

Pya~an!! Flights are booked! Yay! Thank you Phi! Now, just to make sure I booked the right flights, it's flight 868 going and flight 742 back, right? There shouldn't be any problems, but it's better to be sure. ^^;

And coosplaayy!!! X3 Happyhappy! Can't start working on cosplay until after finals, though. o_O I just realized that that means I have only two weeks, including graduation week, to do costume stuff and skit rehearsal before I go to Cancun. And I won't come back from Cancun until two days before we leave for AX. >_< Eek! Major procrastination time! And where the heck am I going to get an (affordable) long-haired silver wig? Grrrr...

But happiness: my PACKAGE CAME!! The Hikago package! The one with the illustration book and the character book! I'm being a good girl and I'm not opening the packages until I finish my homework today. But I can't say I'm not tempted. *twitchtwitch* Can't decide what I'm more obsessed with right now...Furuba or Hikago. Oh well, I can be obsessed with both! They're still niche fandoms as of yet, so I can be an open fan and not worry about fandom politics! Coolcool. And, and yeah. I have to do the court case project. Dammit. And write that speech for lit. Dammit^2. Garhh...

But cosplay! And packages!! Pyaa~aaaan!!! X3 (do you realize how perfect that word is? I've never found another word to express the happy-hyper feeling, and now I've found one! Yaayyy!! Lisa is studying now.

But yaay!!! Brainstorming worked! Happyhappy! Idee~eaasss!! And what would you all think if Jen came to a Fruits Basket marathon too, cuz' I asked her. Jen has last final on June 12th! Isn't that the day before graduation? Heellla cool!! And yeah, I have to study. Dammit. (see what you're hyperness has done to me Phi? This just proooves that caffeine is contagious! Whee!)

And random observation of the night #2: Haley Joel Osment is the voice actor for Sora in the American version of Kingdom Hearts. :3 Yes, "the Sixth Sense boy", as my mother refers to him. Excuse me while I squeal in fangirlish joy. Other notables are Sean Astin (Sam from LotR!) and Mandy Moore, believe it or not. I don't know who they're playing, but if Mandy Moore is playing Aeris/Aerith, I'm gonna laugh. (Actually, Mandy Moore can act. I was surprised when I found out that Mandy Moore was in Princess Diaries; I heard, I spazzed. Still, it's funny.) Dumdedumm...I'm doing my physics studying, really...

-karura didn't study on Saturday, May 18, 2002, 10:53 p.m.

Hey hey! Random observation before I go back to studying for physics. You know, Kenji, your unsung hero bit is a dead ringer for Fitz in Robin Hobb's books. <spoilers for the Farseer trilogy, in case any of you plan to read it, which you should...> Anyways, essentially what happens is that all of Fitz's friends believe he's dead, including his girlfriend, and all Fitz wants to do is take revenge on the person who 'killed' him, and murdered the king he served; the spoiled new king of the realm. After that, all he wants to do is go find his girlfriend again (who's pregnant) and live out a happy, peaceful life with her. But things don't end up that way. Fitz ends up reluctantly doing his duty and aiding the true heir to the throne in saving the kingdom from the brutal group of people raiding their coast, and though it sounds cliche, saving the entire world from eventual decay into war and destruction. He's a hero. If it weren't for him, the world would be screwed. The problem is, everyone in the kingdom but a few companions thinks he's dead, and even if he let out he was alive they'd probably execute him, because of the reason he was 'killed' in the first place. Even worse, his girlfriend, who still thinks he's dead, marries the man that had essentially raised Fitz from childhood. If he let on that he was alive to them, the people closest to him, he would ruin the happiness they'd found and more, make them feel guilty for 'betraying' his memory. So he is unable to let on that he is alive even to those he is closest to. Naturally, he thinks it's best to have the world think he died long before, so he forbids those who knew his role in saving the kingdom from letting anyone else know about it. So no songs for Fitz, because as far as the world knows, he wasn't alive to do anything heroic. Truly the unsung hero.

So where am I trying to get with this? Yes, life can really suck. I was crying for him at the end of the trilogy; the ending wasn't sad for anyone but him. But the ending was bittersweet, not completely sad, thanks to Fitz's actions. His friends are all happy and the world is safe, even if his life is screwy. I really don't know where I'm going with this, except that I would do exactly what Fitz had done, even knowing what would happen. I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I hadn't. So I guess the reward of being an unsung hero is just a personal sense of integrity. You did the right thing, even though no one else knows it. Self-knowledge and belief in the goodness in your own actions and thoughts is a very important thing for inner peace, and though Fitz's life was in utter turmoil after the Events, he's getting rather more collected in the second trilogy. :)

End spoilers.

Now, after that utterly pointless entry (though it was talking about Robin Hobb, so it's not entirely pointless!) I have to go study physics more. So later!

Ha! Finally archived. Took me long enough.

A~anyways. My Hikago illustration book was shipped! And my character book too!! X3 Jamall.com rules. Just so you all know. My entire order was like, $58 (yes, that is a lot, but bear with me...) but this was for the illustration book, which is generally $40 at its cheapest, the character book, which is $5-6 at its cheapest, and shipping from Japan, which can be f*cking expensive if you let it. (koffkoffanimaxiskoff). And the shipper is UPS, so I'm not worried about the order getting lost or something. (though it might end up in Anaheim on a detour on its way here...or was that Fedex? Don't remember.) Oh, and there was tax, too, but it was minimal. And from what I hear, the Hikago artbook is gigantic, so it must be a pain in the rear to send. o_O Basically, I'm very happy with my order. ^_^ Now I just have to wait for the order to arrive...

And Phi is the coolest person ever, because she already has her Hikaru (from Hikago!) cosplay costume done, and AX isn't for more than a month. Yay for productivity! And yay for Phi, because she makes to coolest, most adorable Hikaru and I just want to glomp her!! X3 So basically I guess this means I have to finish my Sai costume because otherwise Phi would be cosplaying alone and that is NOT cool. Luckily I'm sharing the workload (and costume) with Phi, as well, because she's uber-cool and uber-organized and I seriously have to take some of the workload off her or I'm going to feel uber-guilty. o_O So yeah! Cosplay work time! And must remember to burn Hikago for Phi. Remind me, 'kay? And have fun in SoCal, Phi!! :D Other stuffs. Still working on burning your stuffs, Kix! And I'm so in love with the Noir soundtrack it's not even funny. *_* When .hack soundtrack comes out, must get, because it's just as good sounding as the Noir one. Same staff. Cool people. And Kenji! COLOR!! You know what I mean. (And I don't suppose you'd like to bring your copics to school tomorrow again, would you? :3 Have a picture to finish... Aki~iiraa!! X3 <----obsessed fangirl. Scary.

Errm, that's it, besides the fact that I have an important physics test tomorrow that I have to study for. o_O AP tests are over, and I still have to study. This sucks. At least Saturday me and Amanda and everyone are having a post-AP party. Mexican-food themed!! Except I have to bring the chicken. >_< Shafted. But Jaewon's back! And she brought a new fruit to traumatize me with; melons. Before, it was just bananas. Now, it's bananas and melons. I'm being corrupted by my friends. But my state of corruption still doesn't help me identify when I'm being flirted with. >_> I was at Whole Foods with Sarah yesterday, and we were looking for pastries and stuff because we were hungry, and the guy was really cool and gave us free samples and everything and later I was like, 'wow, wasn't that guy nice!' And Sarah was like, 'dear, I think he was flirting with us.' Me: 'O_O What?'

I'm so going to have problems when I go to college...

And random: today me, Sarah, and Amanda were playing hot potato. With a plastic bag of orange peels. And the way we decided who was 'out' was with such criteria as the next time someone swore. X3 Of course, it was amusing because the people around us didn't know what the heck we were doing, or what our criteria was for who would be 'out', so basically it was all fun and crazy. Usual day at lunch. Until Melissa's boyfriend got disgusting and started mock-making out with this random freshman (guy o_o) that likes hanging around our group. o_<;; Tongues...nooo....ick!! Poor Melissa. ;_; I was disturbed. Very. Crap, we have the most random people hanging around us. We don't even know them that well, they just show up. Maybe they think we're amusing or something. We are kinda funny. I guess. Still, that guy who came up and started humping Amanda's boyfriend is just too much. And that blonde ditz who thinks that just because we talk to her, sometimes, that she has senior friends? Or the make-out crew that inhabits the lobby... Arghh!! This is what we get for eating lunch in the auditorium. Drama people are crazy. >_<

Crap, I said I'd go study, didn't I? This was supposed to be a short entry! And this layout is so not appropriate...
