Long weekend. Very long weekend. Nice, though.

I see United is changing their goofy slogan finally. Since I haven't worked there for years, I have the right to say all sortsa crappy things, but I won't. The place went straight to hell after Ralph left.

All this stuff will most likely go archive tomorrow, but I leave it now for your frolicking pleasure...

The all-singing, all-dancing LystWorthy now begins its programming day. Let the nations rejoice!

Tying up words and phrases and clauses:

The Evils of Star Wars!
So, it's not just Star Trek anymore, huh? Funny site, with funny responses. Perspectives, even from one particular belief system, can certainly differ.

"Ms. Anderson, if you're reading this..."
Gillian Anderson is leaving the X-Files after this season, but we already figured as much. What we were not aware of, however, is the X-Files/Tori Amos connection...the mind boggles.

Avatar of the New Age, or justa buncha links? Yours to decide:

Those Meddling Kids + Their Dog
Ruh-roh...behold: Scooby Doo, still going strong at the ripe old dog age of 210! (Never knew Mama Cass was a guest star...) Underwear is available for your "Scooby's 30th" festivities. (Oh yeah, the original link is from Robot Wisdom; like they're gonna notice or anything.)

Microsoft vs. Linux (warning: FUD!)
Whatever. Alls I know is, LW is written from a Linux box with an uptime of almost a year (and that was just to add more RAM), no worries mon. Besides, M$ would never lie to you, right?

It's National Techies Day. Be festive and celebrate, hmm? Slashdot, Freshmeat, Ars Technica, and the Gravis Joystick Screwdriver Home Page will still be there when you get back...

10.1-4.99
Having breathed a moment full of fresh air, we now return to do you up right with the swell nifty keen URLs-plus-blahblah stylee of the one and only LystWorthy, the Blog of the New Millenium!

Gaze upon this linkful harvest, and weep no more:

Stalking the Elusive MP3
MP3s can often be difficult to find via WWW, but this helps...

Paris, Texas: The BAND?
Found on the Apathy blog: a rock 'n roll band from Madtown, WI using the name Paris, Texas. Hahaha. As a resident of said town, your LW curator can tell you that there's not much there these days that embodies "rock 'n' roll" or "cool" outside of, well, your LW curator. But, hey.

Hunka Hunka Serious Discourse
I love Elvis stuff, and I love this review of Guralnick's second Elvis tome which argues that the King, far from being some hick savant, knew damn well what he was doing musically. Very nice.

From the picturesque burg of LinkLand, where the URLs dance and frolic with whimsical delight, we bring forth the crescent fresh goodness you've come to expect, with the down home flavor that keeps you coming back for more! Made with pride each morning by Folks That Care, these links provide a nominal daily requirement of memetic nutrition while staying crispy in milk!

mmmm. grok pure effervescence:

"Millenium." whatever.
Robert Anton Wilson discusses the arbitrary nature of human calendar systems, such as the one which ticks over to 2000 inna coupla pre-apocalyptic months. fnord!

Perl AI Stuff
From Linkwatcher comes this page of Perl scripts related to artificial intelligence. Whee, new toys!

"...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead"
Never heard any of the band's music, but what an excellent name!

links.

Wrote a little song about 'em, here it go:

Weblog Reviews Thwarted!
Somebody pointed out this blog review list (now removed) where someone was going through the Eatonweb list and giving thoughts on each weblog...one by one. (Gotta give 'em points for moxie, in any case.) Of course the blog community spread this news everywhere, and the person is now saying the list was never intended for public consumption; however, if you saw it, it sure looked public, not like the annotated bookmark-type thingie the author sez was the intent...

The whole thing brings up Issues:

  • how do you rate a blog, anyway? content is dynamic and subject to suck or rock or rock/suck, depending on current memes/links. (Nitpicking people's HTML doesn't count either, and with Pitas or Blogger or whatever, it's a moot point besides.)
  • how big is this thing gonna get? i see new blogs daily, from special-interest things to the general hodgepodge stylee we practice here at LW. there are hundreds now. at this point, no list is complete.
  • where does it go from here? although i participate in the process, the idea of putting up a blog is still kinda strange to me. do we just go on cataloguing the Web like this forever? or do we eventually find that Great Link in the Sky, that Holy URL Grail, the one that finishes the game so we can enter our initials next to the High Score?

Star Trek is the Devil!
Perhaps you had your suspicions already, but here's the scoop on the sinister nature of this seemingly harmless sci-fi warhorse.

Useless Info?
That's what it's called, but there are some really interesting stories here. Informative and entertaining...

Pitas has been down, as have I. We begin again on Wednesday...

* * *
LystWorthy is an email based weblog that we repost here at Pitas, on a time schedule that varies between pseudo-daily and semi-diurnally...
* * *
We get stuff from all over--things we find, news, other blogs, etc. to amuse a small group of malcontents. If you feel like something here was ripped off from you, relax; it's just a blog...otherwise, feel free to just come down here and kill us.

I'm your host, the Doctor; I'm your Doctor, the host. If you have any questions, perhaps you will find answers from the Lyst, or you can always give me a holler; I have been known to reply on occasion.

And stuff.
