Today is Respect for the Aged Day in Japan. As usual, we here at LW hope yours is a festive one.
Woo-hoo! The NHL preseason has begun! We can safely watch ESPN again now.
These links followed us home, and we KEPT THEM:
Britney Mania Continues
"This is taken from the live preformance at the Nickeolodeon Kid's Choice
Awards. She is NOT wearing a bra during this
performance and her thingys are
hard and sticking out. Do not miss this opppurtunity."
heh. Props to Replicant for this one...
REAL Video Game Music
In case you were wondering what happened to Buckner and Garcia (the dudes responsible for the once-hit song
"Pac-Man Fever"), your sleepless nights could be over with a visit to
this website which they have wrought.
Sega Dreamcast, whoop-dee-doo
It looks neat, sure, but I'm not getting one. Sega CD,
the 32X,
the Sega Saturn...all quickly left unsupported, with only a handful of games produced. No thank you, I'll just keep
playing my Atari Jaguar; at least they're still putting out new games for it...
9.11-13.99
Back from putting on FallFest (seasonally a bit early, but hey); 14 bands this time! I'm exhausted. Why do we keep
putting these things on? Oh well, everyone seemed to have a good time.
A young lady gave me her phone number, which was cool. She is an 18 yr old Satanist, but yet she didn't know who Crowley was...hmmm. So
I didn't ask about Anton LaVey. (Yes, I know Crowley wasn't really a Satanist,
but you would expect one to have at least come across the name...) No matter; she was cute, and I'm a sucker. And
for further incongruity, it was my stomp-rockin version of
"Kum Ba Ya" that charmed her. heh.
Here's an extra link with lotsa good reading to tide you
over until I recover:
The Konformist
As an avid conspiracy theorist and reader of same (especially the more fun far-out ones), I was bummed when
Conspiracy Nation fell silent, but the Konformist is doing wonderful work in the meantime...
JonBenet and John Elway? The Beatles a Mind Kontrol Experiment that worked? How about the inherent evil of N'Sync and Backstreet (ed. note: duh)? It's all here.
9.10.99
Or, as history will undoubtedly record it...the day
after the MTV Awards.
Things we did not expect/coulda lived without/highlowlights:
- Britney Spears jungle remix? Sounded just like an Aphrodite/Urban Takeover jumpup release. Frightening. Kinda liked the Pam Anderson/Janet Jackson thang she had goin' on, though...woo!
- "Give it up for Slim Shady himself!!!" -- Lars Ulrich, Metallica. The end is near.
- The "Soy Bomb Award" goes to the dude who crashed Backstreet's award speech with the cryptic comment: "Wake up at 3:00"...we brake for culture jammers here at LystWorthy, y'know.
- Will Smith actually doing something cool (uniting Tupac & Biggie's moms to present the best rap vid award)
- I want some of whatever Beatle Paul ("and the winner is...some guy named Lawrence Hill!") was on.
If you missed it, don't despair; it'll be on a zillion times
this weekend...
Oh, and we have links too:
Crush Aficionados Thwarted!
The Man cracks down on Those Who Like To Watch Small Critters Being Crushed By Women Wearing High Heels. Travesty!
McElwaine Rant Archive
Oooh, ancient McElwaine usenet posts! Check out the WISDOM of this ENLIGHTENED THINKER. His INIMITABLE STYLE is sometimes EQUALED, but never ECLIPSED...
Ode To Junk Food
Indeed. I often theorize that junk food is good for
me 'cause I've been living on it for most of my life, and
to stop now would be to shock the system. Anyway,
here's a loving tribute.
9.9.99
Nothing appears to have blown up due to the
9.9.99 date.
yet.
Oooh, MTV Awards tonight!
Can your heart stand it, baby? No word on whether Jon "Bowzer" Bauman will be there. (What, no website devoted to
Bowzer? The Web is a FRAUD.) Oh well...if not, you can always get him
to perform for your next corporate event...
And now my selectah dem come with the irie links:
Summer Crap Music Recap
Let's review the hit singles of summer 1999. Gack!
Hundreds of years of culture and civilization building, for this...
Weblogs: Saviors of Journalism!
The
Trib dissects this whole weblog issue, and talks to the
Big Blog Stars of today's happening scene! They skipped us, though;
I'm sure it was deliberate, in order to preserve LW's independent,
underground spirit.
Make $ Fast! NOT MLM!
The MMF Hall of Humiliation explains the scams behind the spam. Kewl!

Last week is now
archived for your entertainment pleasure. I
swear it is.
I got my dirt from Graceland! It's a Lucite paperweight with, well, dirt in it.
It is a symbolic totem which I find also functions in representative fashion as a totemic symbol.
Oh, and there are links (cherry flavor is broken but
pina colada still works, if a little syrupy)...
Abolish School NOW!
And here's one for our homies at
GBATM..."Public Schools: Designed to destroy
individual thought". I'm sure they figured that out already, but
this article spells it out wonderfully.
Jerry Lewis Telethon: Final '99 Mention
We will URL no more on this subject forever. Probably.
A telethon postmortem is certainly in order, though...and
this is one. I'm really just thinking of a master plan here; after all, Jerry's gotta quit doing these things sometime, and I am here to keep the party rolling. I luuuve embarrassing spectacle and show business kitsch, which uniquely qualifies me for such a hosting position. Resume upon request.
Get Back at the Man
Nice weblog by sane folk in an otherwise insane situation (high school), from up around Kirb's stomping grounds I believe. (Looks like they made it back to the
Eatonweb blog portal again.) Worth checking out.
Besides, they mentioned us today (complete with bonus DocSpew, free of charge!)...
Eddie! I Want Half, Eddie!
Can't wait for hockey season. Ed Belfour has been my favorite goalie ever since my (and his) Chicago days, and
last year he delivered a Stanley Cup to a Dallas team that
wouldn't have one otherwise (still don't, as far as most
folks are concerned, but the goal counted and it's in the
books now so hey)...here's his site, very nice. I want one of those old Chicago Stadium chairs...
Behold: Homemade Cheese!
